00:01Come on in.
00:02Hey.
00:03Hey, Paul.
00:05All right, you guys ready to chow down?
00:07Yes.
00:09A chef is here.
00:10He's been busy.
00:11I have not been cooking, so that is a good thing.
00:14Let's get into the kitchen.
00:15Yay, amazing.
00:19So food has this ability to take us to places, Paul.
00:22Yeah.
00:22Where are you right now as we dig into this?
00:25Oh, this is my grandparents' house.
00:27Yeah.
00:27Yeah, which is really nice.
00:28They were a big part of bringing me up.
00:31They would take me to the rink a lot of the time.
00:33They were often babysitters.
00:36My grandma would always have food for us ready
00:38whenever we were visiting.
00:39And the table being an oval table makes me think
00:43of their home, too, because it was a big oval table.
00:46I'm learning about the skating community.
00:48It really does feel like a tight-knit community.
00:51Good coaching and good families,
00:52and we've made a lot of friends along the way
00:55that were skating families.
00:58Well, you really feel with skating
01:00that there is a whole family around you.
01:02Everybody's supporting each other.
01:05I'd be remiss if I didn't say congratulations to you, too.
01:08Kevin, you've obviously been embraced and invited into this family
01:12and to the point of holding hands with Deborah during events.
01:15What's this journey been like for you?
01:17I came into it knowing nothing about skating,
01:20and now I've learned to love the sport as much as Paul has, really.
01:25You know, people don't realize how much work goes into it.
01:32So one final dish.
01:36Tell us about this.
01:38Rice paper rolls is one of our...
01:39I call it one of our lazy dinners that we'll make.
01:44Because, you know, you just got to prep a lot of stuff,
01:46and it's not hard to do.
01:47Mom makes this fish sauce that I prepare at home,
01:52so that sort of reminds me of Mom.
01:54Are there times throughout this
01:56when you talk about going and training every single day
01:58that you're thinking about what the other people in your life
02:02have done to allow you to be able to do this?
02:04We're never fully disconnected from that reality.
02:07We're at our training centre every day,
02:09and we have teenagers,
02:10and their parents are in day in and day out.
02:13We see that sacrifice.
02:15It's hard not to be reminded all the time
02:18of all the people who have such a big part
02:22in getting us to where we are today,
02:24and it's really special.
