00:00In 35 years of judging, I've seen just about everything, every outfit.
00:06But I've never seen an outfit like that.
00:08Do you like it?
00:09For court.
00:10Okay, well.
00:11For court.
00:12It's interesting.
00:14But I thought I was at a Purim party.
00:17Do you know what Purim is?
00:18I have no idea.
00:19Well, I'm going to tell you what Purim is.
00:21That would be a Queen Esther costume for Purim.
00:24Never a costume.
00:24It's an odd look for court, Ms. Rowland.
00:26Anyway, this is what the case is about.
00:28Ms. Brown, it is your claim that the defendant, who was your brother's girlfriend?
00:32No.
00:33Ex-girlfriend.
00:34Ex-girlfriend.
00:34Don't speak to me unless I'm looking at you.
00:36Okay.
00:36Otherwise, you're gone out of here.
00:37All right.
00:38Don't do that with your head either.
00:39It makes me dizzy.
00:42Broke the windows on your car, and she did that because she had a fight with your brother?
00:45Yeah, argument.
00:46Where's the brother?
00:47He's incarcerated.
00:48Oh.
00:49What was the night of the incident?
00:50September 25, 2014.
00:52And you know the defendant?
00:53Yes.
00:53You knew her from before September 14th?
00:56No, not like that.
00:56Had you seen her before, is my question.
00:58And they say knew.
00:59You knew she wasn't a stranger to you.
01:01How many times had you seen her before September 14th?
01:05Two times.
01:06How much prior to September 14th?
01:08Had you seen her those two times?
01:10Within a month, within two months, within two years?
01:12I've seen her in June.
01:13Where?
01:13At the hospital when she had my niece.
01:15So she and your brother have a child together.
01:17Yes.
01:18How many?
01:19Just one.
01:20So you saw her in June when your niece was born, and?
01:22I believe that was the last time I've seen her.
01:24Are you going to tell me what you observed on September 25th?
01:28Well, she came over to get my brother to go and hang out or whatever they were doing.
01:32Your brother was living with you?
01:33No.
01:33He would just come over to my house to visit.
01:35Were you at home?
01:36Yeah.
01:36So you saw her?
01:37I saw her and come and get him.
01:38Tell me what happened.
01:39So she came and got him, and they left.
01:41Who was taking care of the baby?
01:42Me and my mother.
01:43Had she brought the baby over to you?
01:45Yes.
01:46She brought the baby over to my mother.
01:47Got the baby, yes.
01:48Your mother was babysitting.
01:49Okay, go ahead.
01:50So then they went out.
01:51They went out, and then they came back maybe three, four hours later, and then my brother
01:55came in the house, like, and he said, she's crazy.
01:58Like, she want to fight.
01:59You can't tell me what he said.
02:00So three or four hours later, he came home?
02:02Yeah.
02:03Not with her?
02:04Well, she was outside still.
02:05Did she take the baby?
02:06We took the baby out to her.
02:08And she took the baby and left?
02:09No.
02:10What happened?
02:10I guess her and my brother were arguing, and we could hear them yelling, and then my
02:14brother pepper sprayed her.
02:15So, and then he came in the house.
02:17He was like, well, she wanted to fight, so I pepper sprayed her instead of fighting her.
02:21Go ahead.
02:22And so then we went outside, and we were like, well, do you want some water?
02:25You need to flush your eyes.
02:26You want a towel?
02:26She was like, no, I'm going to kill him, and blah, blah, blah.
02:29And so we were like, calm down.
02:31You don't need to be driving with the baby in the car.
02:33She was like, no, I'm going to kill him.
02:34And so my mom proceeded to get her phone and call her family and for someone to come and
02:38get her, you know, so they could drive her, because she couldn't see.
02:41And then, like, she stayed there for maybe 15 minutes, and then she, like, jumped, I guess,
02:46lunged out the car and was like, I can see now.
02:48Tell him to come outside.
02:49He can come and fight me now.
02:51And then she was like, no, I can call whoever.
02:53And so then we were like.
02:55Okay, so that was an incident.
02:56Did she finally leave?
