00:00When I was four or five years old and my mum, she walked out and she left me and my
00:05dad and
00:06it was definitely a confusing time. I remember being a kid not knowing why she left. I definitely
00:11primarily grew up with a father, like a single parent type of father, raising me. The other
00:17memories that I have are with my step-granddad and being at my nan's house. There was an occasion
00:22when I was 11 years old where we were in the living room of my nan's house and I was
00:28sitting
00:28on my step-granddad's lap watching TV. Now, that used to happen a lot. My step-mum was
00:33on the sofa opposite watching the TV and then out the corner of her eye, my step-granddad's
00:38roll-up cigarette dropped out of his hand and it fell onto the carpet and she just assumed
00:43he would bend down to pick up the cigarette and time went by but he didn't bend over to
00:48pick up the cigarette because now it's burning a hole in the carpet and then she looks up
00:52and then she sees movements going on underneath the blanket in between my legs and she just
00:57sort of stood up, alarmed, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up. She then leaves
01:02the living room, goes into the kitchen, is trying to figure out how to handle the situation.
01:06She calls me out, she then takes me home, she tells my dad. I do remember the energy,
01:11I remember how I felt, I remember being sort of somewhat scared and then he said to me,
01:15right, you're not going around there again, you're never going to see him again, you're
01:18not going to go to school, tell your friends, you're going to keep this to yourself, that's
01:21it.
