05:46Will they take the
05:47Super stoked that there's a female astronaut going up and it is just really incredible to see, just to see
05:53the diversity just going up into space and even having someone from Canada and I think just in light of
05:58the way things are in the world right now, I think it's a reminder that so many of us wanted
06:02to pause and see what's happening.
06:30I think it's just really exciting that there's a Canadian on this mission to the moon and it's a really
06:36great inspirational moment for all Canadians as we celebrate Jeremy Hansen and Dr. Jenny Sadi Gibbons as well, who's doing
06:44the CAPCOM and connecting our
06:46Earth with the moon in communications and I think it's going to be a really, really wonderful experience for Canadians
06:53to get excited about this historic moment but also start to explore the science behind it as well.
07:05Let me begin by congratulating the team at NASA and our brave astronauts on the successful launch of Artemis II.
07:15It was quite something.
07:17It will be traveling further than any manned rocket has ever flown and will very substantially pass the moon, go
07:24around it and come back home from a distance that has never been done before.
07:30It's amazing.
07:32They are on the way and God bless them.
07:35These are brave people.
07:37We want to God bless those four unbelievable astronauts.
07:44So today, April 1st, 2026, 6.35 p.m., NASA's Space Launch System rocket lifted off the pad with 8
07:52.8 million pounds of thrust carrying the Orion spacecraft and the Artemis II crew out to Earth orbit and beginning
07:59America's grand return to the moon.
08:02Now, about 51 minutes into the flight, during a planned handover between satellites, the Orion spacecraft underwent a communications issue,
08:10leading to a temporary partial loss of comms.
08:13The uplink from CAPCOM to the crew was being heard by the crew, but we cannot hear their responses for
08:18a brief period of time.
08:20There were no issues with the vehicle itself.
08:22Comms with the crew had been restored.
08:24We're actively working the issue and we'll keep you informed.
08:28And with that, thank you all for coming out and covering humanity's return to the moon.
