00:00One of the most menacing parts about the Angels is their stillness. The only
00:03problem with this concept was finding performers who were willing and able to
00:06stay motionless for that long, but luckily the costume department had a
00:10plan to help that process along. The Angels were brought to life by
00:13special effects guru Neil Gorton. The bottom half of the costume was made
00:16from skirts of stiff rubber and underneath he included a bicycle seat
00:20stuck to a pole so performers could stand perfectly still during shooting.
00:23This was an ingenious design choice that worked incredibly well,
00:26in fact a little too well. Gorton recalled an incident where a runner
00:29asked an Angel performer what they wanted for lunch only to discover they'd been
00:33talking to a statue prop the entire time.
