00:29who I do think isn't able to race here
00:32with a car that is doing exactly what he wants.
00:35We know in terms of the setup, it's a compromise.
00:37They went the wrong way after practice
00:39and George has been troubleshooting it ever since.
00:42But in terms of energy management,
00:44it doesn't seem like he's at one with it either.
00:47And obviously lost the place to Charles,
00:49has made it back past Lewis.
00:51But this is a guy that was harrying
00:53and had the race lead earlier on, remember,
00:55momentarily clearing Oscar Piastri.
00:59And this is, if he had done that,
01:01this whole race would have played out differently.
01:03If he hadn't have ceded the position once again to Piastri,
01:06he wouldn't have had to pit when he did.
01:08He maybe could have gone a little bit longer in the race,
01:10benefited from pitting under a safety car.
01:12And it's one of those whole sequences
01:14that could have played out differently for Russell.
01:16But in having Piastri pit earlier,
01:19or get back through and then pit earlier,
01:22it didn't allow him the free air
01:23that this Mercedes really needs.
01:26Antonelli is flying away.
01:27He's one second a lap quicker than Piastri out front.
01:30But Russell cannot use the advantage
01:32because he's having to deploy his energy
01:34in imperfect places around the lap.
01:37He is getting closer.
01:39Russell being told he's got a massive deployment advantage
01:42over Charles Leclerc on the main straight.
01:45That's where Mercedes believe
01:46is the best place to make the move.
01:48That's where they've been very strong
01:50across the entire course of the weekend.
01:52But they are still cycling through options
01:55between race engineer and driver.
01:58Lewis Hamilton is also on the radio
02:00constantly asking what's going on with his deployment.
02:04And there's a lock-up for Hamilton.
02:06A multiple race winner around this circuit
02:09into the triangle chicane
02:11that's seen so many famous moments through the years.
02:14Yeah, you can hear the ramp down of the power unit
02:16as the energy stops deploying into the final corner.
02:21And then Lewis trying to account for that in his brain,
02:24trying to work out,
02:25OK, what entry speed have I got?
02:26Where can I brake to maximize it?
02:28It needs to give the position.
02:29We're on it.
02:32And somewhere there was Lando,
02:34but I didn't see him on board with Lewis,
02:36but maybe Lando was coming up the inside at that moment.
02:39Lewis was slowing a lot in the corner.
02:42And if Lando thinks that Lewis basically cut the corner
02:45to maintain the position,
02:47then technically he would have to give it up.
02:49But I think we'll need another angle of that.
02:51It's been noted by race control.
02:54If it gets bumped up to an investigation,
02:57Hamilton's in trouble.
02:58Norris seems certain,
02:59but they always seem certain on the radio
03:01when there's a position involved.
03:03Position involved for Nico Hülkenberg.
03:05He's just got ahead of Isaac Hadjar.
03:07Ocon has been unable to do anything about Liam Lawson.
03:10Lawson in ninth, looking for points again.
03:13Verstappen has been glued to Pierre Gasly's gearbox
03:15for multiple laps now.
03:17He's struggling with graining with his red ball.
03:21There's so much curve being used there for Charles Leclerc,
03:24who has taken everything he can get
03:27from the Ferrari this weekend.
03:28I'm enjoying seeing the drivers really fight these things
03:31through the apexes.
03:32They're having to hustle into the entries as well.
03:34I know there is a ramp down of performance
03:37into some of the big stops,
03:38but that doesn't dwindle the way
03:41that the drivers have to be on the limit of grip.
03:42And we're seeing that
03:43with the attitude of plenty of the cars.
03:45Oh, Hülkenberg's not going to sneak through there.
03:48He's thinking about it.
03:49He's thinking about it.
03:50We go to the S's
03:51and still Hajar remains ahead.
03:55That's Hajar coming back through on Hülkenberg, isn't it?
03:58They just swapped places on the last lap,
04:01both trying to get back towards a final point.
04:04And again, a switch around racing there on the three big straights.
04:08So Hülkenberg had momentarily got back past the Red Bull.
04:12Hajar must have come around the outside
04:13before I noticed anyway.
04:15Hülkenberg on the inside.
04:16Taking a lot of curb in the first segment.
04:18Risky stuff for Hülkenberg.
04:20The veteran, third oldest driver in the field.
04:24And Antonelli has got the gap out to 13 seconds.
04:27He won't need to withdraw it any further than that.
04:29Covering off the chance of a free pit stop late on
04:32on lap 47 and 53.
04:36Russell's close.
04:37He managed to get a decent exit of that final corner as well.
04:40A little bit less steering needed.
04:42Traction down.
04:43This is where he's been told that he is so much quicker,
04:45but Charles Leclerc has responded with his energy deployment.
04:49And he's marking off Russell into the first turn of the racetrack.
04:54The thing is, the drivers have no idea what each of them are doing.
04:57So Russell, when he exits the final chicane,
04:59has no idea how much energy Leclerc has at his disposal to defend.
05:04So it might be that halfway down the next straight,
05:06Leclerc starts to struggle,
05:08which is what happened with Hamilton as George had a big advantage.
05:11But there, Leclerc had a little bit of cash in the bank
05:14and just basically spent it down the straight
05:16to hold position once again.
05:18You just don't know what the investments are
05:21as you're heading around the lap.
05:26So Russell will think again, will gather again.
05:30World Championship last year separated by two points.
05:33No one would have expected Verstappen to come roaring back.
05:37The development race is going to be intense.
05:41Verstappen was racing Gasly
05:43all the way to the end in Bahrain last year.
05:47Brilliant to see Oli Behrman back with the team.
05:49Went for an x-ray, no fractures for Oli Behrman.
05:51Big moment and a 50G impact with the wall.
05:54It brought out the safety car.
05:56But it changed the race and the championship leader.
05:59At least it looks like for the moment.
06:01Hamilton's still with Lando Norris in the mirrors.
06:04That's the battle for third.
06:05But the battle for fifth is about to change.
06:07Told you.
06:08Through goes Lando Norris.
06:10And the McLaren man is able to get by.
06:15And he's up to fifth place as Hamilton's form.
06:18But looks so good on the restart.
06:21Looks pretty good down to turn one as well.
06:23He waits and he takes the place back.
06:25So pass and repass.
06:27Once again, Norris spending his energy into the final corner.
06:31Hamilton saving it and back through he comes.
06:33So frustrating for Lando.
06:36The stewards have looked at Lewis crossing the final chicane
06:40and not bothered with that one either.
06:42So I have to say he couldn't see Norris from the on-board at the time.
06:46Which says he probably wasn't far enough alongside.
06:51So again, with the closing speed, he actually has to lift off the throttle.
06:53That could have been an easier pass for him.
06:55It was still pretty easy.
06:56But he could have been further ahead.
06:59But he's closing as you approach 130R.
07:01And you're just going to rear-end the driver ahead if you keep your foot in.
07:04It's easy flat, but not when there's a Ferrari sitting on the apex.
07:10They're just getting out of the way.
07:11Valtteri Bottas there of Charles Leclerc, of George Russell.
07:15And Lando Norris has been told that there will be no investigation into Lewis Hamilton.
07:20Maintaining an advantage over the chicane.
07:21If he wants fifth place, he's going to have to pass him on the racetrack.
07:24So without taking anything away from Antonelli here, this has been a superb weekend.
07:30He's been the standout driver.
07:31His pace has been up the road from anyone, including his teammate.
07:34I'd have loved to see how this played out if you had to overtake those cars on the circuit.
07:38With the freshest tyres and the fastest car at the front of the field,
07:41this was always going to be a runaway race if the car held together.
07:45And that's what we've got.
07:47Confirmed.
07:48Just look after the car.
07:49Let's see Russell with a little bit of a chance.
07:51Leclerc checking the mirrors.
07:52No big closing speed gain for Russell.
07:55Leclerc, he is a master at playing these recharge, these battery games.
08:01We saw it in Melbourne.
08:02He is very, very good at frustrating George Russell.
08:06And this is, this is, it's been frustrating since that safety car call, hasn't he, George?
08:12It didn't go his way.
08:13It done a lot of overtaking early on.
08:15Just had one more car to clear.
08:17And then that work was undone.
08:19But Leclerc is playing a fantastic game with him.
08:23But yeah, what would Antonelli have done if he also had to make overtakes for the race win?
08:27What would he have done if he wasn't in charge of the safety car restart and he was somewhere in
08:32the mid-pack?
08:32I can tell you, Jolyon, if they can't fix those starts, we're going to find out.
08:36Sooner or sooner or later we will, won't we?
08:38In the middle of the season.
08:39But it would have made for a fascinating dynamic with his championship rival George Russell ahead,
08:45with Oscar Piastri just looking to get back on the top step of the podium.
08:49It was really well poised.
08:52But the latest, we have had a safety car intervention in 15 years.
08:57Changing things around.
08:58Antonelli had yet to stop.
09:00And the advantage is clear.
09:0213 seconds.
09:04And he's been told to hold station.
09:07I think he's having the time of his life out front.
09:09He's about to take the lead of the Formula One World Championship
09:11in what will be only his 27th Grand Prix.
09:16Russell sitting where he's been sitting for a very long time now behind Charles Leclerc.
09:20Is he fractionally closer this time as they head down towards Turn 1?
09:25On the boost button.
09:26Deploying that extra energy.
09:28But Leclerc is once again doing a good job.
09:30He's not even having to go defensive and invite more pressure down towards Turn 1.
09:34He's able to use the juice when he needs it.
09:37And he's still up there in third place.
09:40And all this, remember, is great news for Oscar Piastri.
09:42He's had a tremendous drive today.
09:44Unlucky to lose the lead.
09:46The same way as Antonelli benefited.
09:48Piastri was hurt by that.
09:50But he's held on to second place on all the tyres than those around him.
09:54Just read out Kimi Antonelli's last lap, Charlie.
09:581 minute 32.4, Alex.
10:00That's the fastest lap of the Grand Prix.
10:02So that message to calm things down, not listened to.
10:05He is having fun out there and enjoying himself with a 13.4 second lead.
10:12A recovery drive from sixth on the opening lap.
10:16And what is it about these talented young drivers
10:19and a need to just go faster all the way to the end?
10:22How many times have we heard it with Max Verstappen, GP,
10:25telling him to just calm it down?
10:28But when you've got the dominant car,
10:30when you've got the championship lead nearly in your pocket,
10:33you've got a second Grand Prix win in consecutive races coming your way.
10:38Why not have the timeout there?
10:40Here we go.
10:40Oh, here's the chance.
10:42It's been coming and there it is.
10:43But look at what corner it is.
10:45Is that the move complete for George Russell?
10:48Or will Charles Leclerc be able to get by?
10:50Lando Norris is close with Lewis Hamilton behind as well.
10:54Over the line we go.
10:55And it looks like George Russell has done enough.
10:58If he can defend it into turn one,
11:00Charles Leclerc sweeping back though.
11:03And he retakes his place on the podium.
11:05That Ferrari has cornering speed
11:07and Leclerc has confidence as does Hamilton.
11:10Ditto, same move for Lewis,
11:12managing to hold the McLaren at bay further back.
11:15But Leclerc, full commitment.
11:45And we're seeing this a few times there.
11:47Ah, the inside line.
11:50And Russell must have thought it was done.
11:52Charles Leclerc wants that second podium of the season.
11:55So, you know, the magic here is that the Ferrari car is good in the corners.
11:59The Mercedes is good on the straights.
12:01Every time we see the Mercedes making a pass,
12:04it's kind of in a straight line fashion.
12:06Blast pass, almost pulled back to the racing line a lot of the time.
12:10When you see the Ferrari making the pass,
12:12they have to work so hard for it
12:13with the chassis, the downforce they've got.
12:17It's not a bad power unit, but it's not a match for the Mercedes.
12:20So, we've seen it in Melbourne.
12:23Every time Russell came past, it was on the straight.
12:25Norris to the inside at the chicane.
12:27Lando Norris takes fifth place.
12:29Can he hang on to it this time with two laps to go?
12:33There's Hamilton in the background.
12:35Can Hamilton get it back?
12:37Will there be a Ferrari appear in our picture to the inside?
12:41Or does Norris hang on to it?
12:43It's fifth position for Lando Norris.
12:45Long awaited.
12:45And this time he had enough left in the tank
12:47to deploy a little bit more
12:49and keep Hamilton behind in towards turn one.
12:53A nice move on the brakes there as well for Lando.
12:55Wasn't a gift there for him.
12:58Had to work, be patient for it in fifth.
13:01But yeah, what does George do now?
13:03This is a podium at play.
13:05It's points at play as well.
13:07There's three more points if he can clear Charles Leclerc,
13:09which could be fairly crucial at some point in his title tilt.
13:14Jack Black's ready to wave the chequered flag for Kimi Antonelli.
13:17We're on the penultimate lap of the Grand Prix.
13:19I could see you pulling off that sort of coat.
13:24I could wear it.
13:25I'm not sure I'd pull it off.
13:27We are into the final stages of a Grand Prix with pass and repass.
13:32And Charles Leclerc driving the wheels off it.
13:35But for all the world that George Russell had taken it away,
13:38Russell will know every point is crucial.
13:41He will know that McLaren are going to develop brilliantly.
13:45He will know that Ferrari are still very, very good at getting off the line.
13:49And it's tactical games into the final corner.
13:52Yeah, he's not quite close enough to commit to the overtake.
13:56You know what?
13:57Is he going to throw that on the final lap?
13:59The problem is for Russell, if he does that on anything but the final lap,
14:03he will get repassed down this straight.
14:05I reckon we've got a George Russell last corner lunge on our hands.
14:09If he's at the same place, he'll release the brakes and try it down the inside.
14:13Where he doesn't have to then worry about getting to the first corner.
14:16He's only got to get to the finish line.
14:18That's to come when Kimi Antonelli crosses the line.
14:21It's going to be about 15 seconds, 16 seconds afterwards.
14:25Kimi Antonelli on the final lap of the race, in the lead once again.
14:29Getting used to that feeling.
14:31He is set for back-to-back Grand Prix wins.
14:34Valentino Rossi used to do this all the time, didn't he?
14:36It almost mucked around for so long in the noughties MotoGP races,
14:42playing with his opposition, knowing that when it came to the final lap,
14:45I'll just have you there when I need to.
14:48Has George got that in his locker to put one more move and get himself on the podium?
14:54Also further back, Max Verstappen all over the back of Pierre Gasly.
14:58So we have third place on the line.
15:00We have seventh place on the line.
15:02But out front, here comes the new hope for Italy, who will win again in Formula One.
15:10You are looking at the youngest ever leader of the Formula One World Championship.
15:15Kimi Antonelli wins the Japanese Grand Prix and leads the championship at 19 years of age.
15:24Oscar Piastri finally started a Grand Prix.
15:28It's been a great one for him.
15:29Second place, well earned for the Australian driver.
15:32And Charles Leclerc hangs on by four tenths of a second.
15:36Now to seventh place.
15:38Can Verstappen finally get by the Alpine?
15:41Has he got anything left?
15:42He'll be nudging the car out of the corner.
15:45But Gasly's defence holds firm.
15:47And Pierre Gasly beats Verstappen to the line by three tenths of a second.
15:53Norris and Hamilton with the cars in front.
15:55It will be Lawson and Ocon debating the final points.
15:59But this man, miles out front.
16:04Get in there, Kimi.
16:06Good effort, man.
16:07Good effort.
16:08Yes, man.
16:09Whoa, let's go, man.
16:11Whoa.
16:13I was lucky with the safety car, but pace was unbelievable at the end.
16:18Yeah, pace was really good on that hard tyre, mate.
16:20But yeah, we definitely dodged a bullet today.
16:23Thank you, everyone.
16:24Thanks to all the boys and girls in Brackley and Bricksworth.
16:28What a car.
16:29Thank you so much.
16:32You can only play the cards you're dealt.
16:36And certainly, Kimi with the conclusion there that's pretty clear to see.
16:40Got himself to the front.
16:42There was a bit of luck in there, but the pace was outstanding.
16:46George Russell, not able to mount that final attack
16:49because Charles Leclerc did the fastest middle sector of the Grand Prix
16:51on the final lap.
16:54Well done, Oscar.
16:54Checkered flag.
16:55Great job.
16:56P2.
16:57Not think I'd be sat here frustrated that the safety car cost you a win,
17:01but that is a really phenomenal weekend.
17:03Amazing job.
17:05Wow.
17:06So when we start, these things were pretty good.
17:09Well done, everybody.
17:10That was, yeah, great weekends.
17:14We've still got a bit of time to find, but yeah, well done, everybody.
17:18We deserve that.
17:19So thank you.
17:21And let's find some more pace.
17:24And we'll be doing this a hell of a lot more often.
17:28Thanks.
17:30Great race for Piastri.
17:32Driver of the day.
17:35I could go with that.
17:36I think he was sensational.
17:37Took the lead.
17:38Unlucky to rescind that with the safety car
17:42and kept those Ferraris at arm's length.
17:44Managed the safety car restart very well.
17:46What a performance on his first Grand Prix start of the season.
17:53This is a look at Lando Norris getting past Lewis Hamilton.
17:58So many close battles on track
18:00that it was difficult to cover them all off.
18:03This was Hamilton coming back.
18:05You did that one.
18:07Well, it's because there was so much going on, wasn't it?
18:09It was at the same time as the two in front were side by side.
18:12It was a lovely pass.
18:13And then we saw Norris was able to get by once again.
18:19Wow, Charles.
18:20Wow.
18:21Let's go.
18:23I wish it was for a win, but it was good.
18:28Tough race with the lucky safety car.
18:30Yeah, that was a great drive.
18:33For me, the three most deserving drivers are on the podium today.
18:36Charles Leclerc, as well, pitted the earliest of those three.
18:41Norris was the first, of course, pulling the trigger.
18:43Leclerc covered him off.
18:44So, whilst Piastri had older tyres, Leclerc's were even older.
18:47And he managed to clear his teammate.
18:49He managed to clear George Russell and really worked for it.
18:52And then the genius to keep ahead of Russell, I think, was super impressive.
18:56So, he would be another contender for driver of the day, Charles Leclerc.
18:59And Ferrari back onto the podium.
19:01A very, very good effort, keeping those points ticking.
19:04And remember, the picking order will change.
19:06This is so encouraging for both McLaren and Ferrari to think
19:10they can beat a Mercedes.
19:12For the first time this year, they have beaten a Mercedes.
19:16It's not plain sailing.
19:18They romped through in those early laps.
19:19But once things settled down, it was much harder.
19:23Also, Suzuka, traditionally, such a tough place to get by.
19:27Last time, last year, the top three glued together at the end with no way by.
19:32Well, there's a lot going on in that Grand Prix.
19:35But the happiest man by a mile is Kimi Antonelli.
19:40Two wins in Formula 1.
19:42And he's had time to think about the celebration.
19:45Getting used to being at the front.
19:47Amazing pace at the end.
19:49Underline that.
19:50Underline that one.
19:55That's definitely Damon Hill preparing for the interviews.
19:59It was Usain Bolt to the 1996 world champion, who knows this feeling.
20:05He was a two-time winner around here.
20:08And Kimi Antonelli is a two-time Grand Prix winner in Formula 1.
20:13The man elevated quickly through the junior ranks to fight at the front.
20:22But in Formula 1, there is the driver of the day, Oscar Piastri,
20:26who has claimed his 27th career podium.
20:32And Lewis Hamilton, good mid-race,
20:37but not able to fight for the podium places towards the end.
20:43Charles Leclerc says, well done to Kimi Antonelli.
20:47That battle between McLaren and Ferrari, it is so good, isn't it?
20:51They're really evenly matched when they can take part in the races.
20:56And if they can both get closer to Mercedes,
20:59we've got a serious season on our hands.
21:01Remember the development rate that we saw in the last set of regulations?
21:06Again, I can see it coming back.
21:08There's a month off.
21:09And when we come back to Miami,
21:11it will be a different picture, I think.
21:20Kimi Antonelli taking a moment to gather himself together.
21:28Adol smiles once again in his second season of Formula 1.
21:36He is now a two-time winner.
21:43And the first teenager to lead the world championship.
21:50And he's the first Italian to win consecutive Grand Prix
21:53since Alberto Ascari in 1953.
21:59Ridiculous.
22:00How long Italy have waited?
22:03They had the great Michele Alvareto as a championship contender in the 80s.
22:08But Ferrari as their team, sometimes out of necessity.
22:14But Antonelli, absolutely the championship contender
22:18and a fine start to the season.
22:24So all celebrations for Mercedes
22:26and the top three are speaking
22:28to the 1996 world champion,
22:31Damon Hill, in Park Furman.
22:34Kimi Antonelli, congratulations.
22:37You are officially the youngest ever person
22:40to lead a Formula 1 world championship.
22:42Do you have anything to say?
22:45It feels pretty good.
22:48Of course, it's still early to think about the championship,
22:51but we're on the good way.
22:54I mean, the race had a terrible start.
22:56Just need to check what happened.
22:58But then I was lucky with the safety car
23:01to be in the lead.
23:02But then the pace was just incredible.
23:05And, you know, it was really nice.
23:08Second stint.
23:09I felt very good with the car
23:10and very pleased with that.
23:11Yeah, because the man next to you, Oscar,
23:13there, he swamped you at the start.
23:15You made a bad start.
23:16You said to Toto, apparently,
23:17you're going to practice your clutches.
23:18Yeah, I mean, luckily I got three weeks,
23:20so now I can practice some clutch drops
23:23just to get a better feel with it
23:25because definitely it's been a weak point
23:28so far this year.
23:30And, yeah, I need to improve that
23:32because you can easily win or lose races with that.
23:35But you were working way back up
23:36through the field anyway, weren't you?
23:38And then you had the safety car came out
23:39which really handed you the lead.
23:41But after that, you look absolutely masterful,
23:43totally in control.
23:44Yeah, I think, obviously,
23:46we were very lucky with the safety car
23:48but on the medium,
23:49we were really strong
23:50once I got some free air
23:52and then on the hard,
23:53the pace was just incredible.
23:55So, I don't know what it would have happened,
23:58how the outcome would have been
24:00without the safety car
24:01but, yeah, definitely it made my life a lot easier.
24:06We'll come back to you in a second.
24:08Oscar, you finally got a race in.
24:13It turns out we're all right
24:14once we get to the start.
24:16Yeah, so, and at one time
24:18you were saying that you thought
24:19you were comfortable
24:19and you could possibly hang on to the position
24:21but then you had the safety car.
24:24Yeah, it would have been really interesting
24:25to see what would have happened without that.
24:27I think, yeah,
24:29I could keep George behind
24:30and just before the stops
24:32we're actually pulling away a little bit again.
24:33so, yeah,
24:35a shame that we never got to see
24:38what would have happened
24:38but I think for us at this point
24:40to be disappointed about finishing second
24:42is a pretty good place to be.
24:44So, yeah, massive thanks to the team.
24:46I think we did a really good job
24:47of executing with what we had.
24:51I think, you know,
24:52we clearly still need to find a bit of performance
24:53but, yeah,
24:55we took every opportunity we had today.
24:57Well, it was closer anyway, wasn't it?
24:58Than not even getting a race
25:00but well done for that.
25:01And Charles, also fighting third place.
25:04You know, you had to do everything you could
25:05to hang on to it.
25:07You've got a bit of pressure there
25:08from George at the end.
25:10Yeah, it was a bit of a sweaty one,
25:12this one, obviously.
25:14With the safety car,
25:15we got a little bit unlucky
25:16so from that moment onwards
25:17I knew I was a little bit on the back foot
25:20especially compared to Kimi and Lewis
25:24but then I was like,
25:25okay, let's keep pushing.
25:27Let's try to keep those tyres
25:28and bring them to the end
25:29and actually it wasn't that
25:30as much of a disadvantage as I thought.
25:32The tyres were actually pretty good.
25:34The few laps that I had done
25:35wasn't so bad.
25:36It's just that we lost a few positions.
25:38And then, yeah,
25:39it was quite a fun race.
25:41Just not quite enough to get Oscar
25:43but, yeah, it was a cool race.
25:45Well, well done.
25:46And Kimi,
25:47we've got a little bit of a gap.
25:49You're going to practice your clutches
25:51but this is it.
25:52You've won in Suzuka,
25:53one of the great tracks on the...
25:54Have you got a few words to say
25:55for the Japanese fans?
25:56I mean, I'm really happy
25:58to have won in such a special track
26:01in front of these amazing fans.
26:04I think driving and racing here
26:06is a unique experience
26:08and, yeah,
26:10really looking forward
26:11to coming back next year.
26:12Arigato.
26:13Well, Kimi, congratulations
26:15and we'll be back in Miami
26:17in about, I don't know,
26:19four or five weeks' time,
26:20I think it is.
26:25Damon Hill with the questions.
26:26Kimi Antonelli,
26:27Oscar Piastri,
26:28and Charles Leclerc
26:29with the answers.
26:31Kimi Antonelli
26:34winning consecutive races
26:36for Italy
26:37for the first time
26:39since June the 21st, 1953
26:42when Alberto Ascari
26:43won the Belgian Grand Prix.
26:46It has been a while
26:47for continued success
26:49for an Italian driver
26:50in Formula One.
26:52Let's go.
26:53Yes, sir.
26:56High fives all round,
26:58handshakes all round.
27:02And Kimi Antonelli,
27:03brilliant that he's remembering
27:04to do that,
27:05drinking in every single moment,
27:06not taking it for granted
27:08and revelling
27:09in being a Grand Prix winner.
27:123rd of May,
27:13the next Grand Prix in Miami,
27:14which I think is about as long
27:16as the winter break
27:17that we've had this year
27:18between finishing in Abu Dhabi
27:19and the cars hitting the track
27:21in Barcelona
27:22for the shakedown.
27:23So,
27:24a huge opportunity
27:25for Antonelli
27:26to enjoy this one,
27:27enjoy the championship lead
27:29and for everyone else
27:30to think about
27:30how they're going to catch him.
27:32Yeah, teams that have got off
27:33to a tough start.
27:36That's to Martin Williams
27:38with time to undo the damage.
27:41Audi, for example,
27:43have got time to look at
27:44why they can't get off the line
27:45particularly effective
27:46because their race pace was good,
27:47but they lost so many positions
27:49at the start today.
27:51Same for Mercedes.
27:52If they can sort that,
27:54we'll have a lot less
27:55to talk about in Grand Prix,
27:57but they will have
27:58an easier Sunday afternoon.
28:00that instruction
28:01was listened to
28:02a fair bit, sir.
28:04The crowd
28:05with so much personality
28:07here are waiting
28:08for the podium ceremony.
28:09Cool down room time.
28:10Hold on.
28:11Yeah, yeah, yeah.
28:12Thank you.
28:12Yeah, questo.
28:13Yeah, grandissimo.
28:15Thank you.
28:17Thank you.
28:20Thank you.
28:20Thank you.
28:24Thank you.
28:28Thank you.
28:31I think also you gain a lot
28:32from overtake mode, no?
28:35I'm not sure here,
28:36to be honest,
28:37because when Louis was behind,
28:39or even when George was behind,
28:41they didn't gain that much.
28:43That's a start.
28:44Yeah, no, actually,
28:44we've got a pretty similar start.
28:46If anything, we've got...
28:51Similar-ish.
28:58But yeah, your deployment
29:01was very strange.
29:02Yeah.
29:03Very strange.
29:04Like, for me,
29:05it was the biggest difference
29:06since the beginning
29:06of the year
29:07with the deployment.
29:09Like, in two turn one,
29:11I couldn't get...
29:11I was, like,
29:12on boost,
29:13everything,
29:13I couldn't get...
29:14But then I was the...
29:15Oh, my God!
29:18Wait.
29:20I finally see
29:21what you mean
29:21about the mushroom.
29:23It's pretty...
29:23Yeah.
29:24It's pretty accurate.
29:26Look, look at that.
29:27What happened there?
29:28It looked like
29:28he was on a charger mode.
29:31Yeah.
29:32Oh, that was a close one.
29:34No, but here,
29:35he came back.
29:36Oh, my God!
29:37We touched.
29:38I thought I had a puncher.
29:43Yeah, we're, like,
29:43you were deploying more
29:45into 13,
29:45and then we were
29:46deploying more into 16,
29:48compared to you.
29:49Uh, yeah.
29:52Yeah, but he...
29:53Like,
29:54not every lap.
29:55No, no.
29:56Some laps,
29:56you guys were deploying
29:57a lot into turn one.
29:59Like, George was
30:00flying into turn one.
30:01Well, we were
30:02changing, yeah,
30:02beat strat modes.
30:03Yeah.
30:04Just to get...
30:05Because when you were
30:06in a train,
30:07it was a bit cool.
30:11You were flying
30:12at the air
30:13when you had Freya,
30:13no?
30:14Yeah.
30:14What was the lap time?
30:15Yeah, even on...
30:17Well, a pretty in-depth
30:19cool-down room discussion
30:21for the top three.
30:22Our podium finishes
30:24at the third round
30:25of the season.
30:25Charles Leclerc,
30:26Oscar Piastri,
30:27and our race winner
30:28and new championship leader,
30:29Kimi Antonelli,
30:30who's taken his second
30:31Grand Prix win
30:32at the age of 19.
30:35Oscar Piastri,
30:36with a 27th career podium,
30:39scored his first
30:39at this circuit.
30:43On the medium,
30:44I was happy
30:45if I got into the 34s.
30:47I think I did one or two
30:48laps in the 34s.
30:49I was like,
30:50I'm doing all right.
30:54Yeah, you guys in the race.
30:55Yeah.
30:57It's a post-credit scene
30:58for the cool-down room.
30:59I've not seen that before.
31:01Visit from Stefano Domenicali,
31:02CEO of Formula One.
31:04Some bonus content.
31:06Never know what you're going to get
31:07with the cool-down room.
31:09All sorts of occurrence
31:11in there.
31:12Lewis Hamilton,
31:13he's like,
31:13no, this is really nice.
31:14You've done it up
31:15because it hadn't been that way.
31:17He missed out on it
31:17the previous year.
31:19Ferrari back on the podium
31:20with Charles Leclerc.
31:21They've been on the podium
31:22with every Grand Prix
31:23so far this year,
31:23so a much better start
31:24to the campaign
31:25than they had in 2025.
31:28And Oscar Piastri's buzzing,
31:29isn't he?
31:30He's absolutely delighted
31:30to be back in the thick
31:31of it at the front.
31:32Well, that's the thing.
31:33He lost the lead
31:34because of the safety car timing,
31:36but I don't think
31:37he ever really believed
31:38he could win the race.
31:39I think it was a shot
31:39at trying to do something special
31:40and actually for him
31:42to finish second,
31:43what a result
31:44in his first start of the year.
31:49OK, here comes
31:51Charles Leclerc
31:52onto the podium
31:53for the 52nd time
31:54in his Formula One career
31:56and second time this season.

32:02Oscar Piastri.
32:03A Grand Prix start
32:05and a Grand Prix podium
32:07for Oscar Piastri.
32:09And it's Kimi time
32:10once again.
32:11The winner,
32:12his second consecutive race win,
32:16from Italy,
32:17Kimi Antonelli.
32:19The unmistakable
32:21Kimi Antonelli
32:22onto the podium.
32:24Brilliantly announced
32:25as ever
32:26and it's time
