00:12After the two-hour meeting, Anwar said in a statement that both countries had agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to
00:20de-escalate the Middle East conflict,
00:22protect civilian lives and open space for negotiations towards a peaceful and lasting resolution.
00:28He said the meeting had opened constructive space to find common ground in addressing the West Asia conflict,
00:35which is putting pressure on global energy security and economic stability.
00:40He said both leaders also emphasized the importance of ensuring the continuity of global supply chains and strategic trade routes,
00:48including the Strait of Hormuz, remain unaffected.
00:51He said Malaysia remains firm in its stance of rejecting violence,
00:55upholding international law and urging all parties to return to the path of peace.
01:01The one-day official visit was made by Anwar at Prabowo's invitation,
01:06which was extended during a phone conversation between the two leaders on March 23.
01:12Tensions in the region have escalated since the United States,
01:15and Israel launched joint strikes against Iran on February 28,
01:20after the U.S. said their initial talks to get Iran abandon its nuclear enrichment
01:25and ballistic missile programs fell apart.
01:28Tehran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel
01:32and several neighboring countries hosting U.S. military assets,
01:36further affecting global market stability and the aviation sector.
01:40They also restricted international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,
01:44which handles about 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas traffic.
