00:00Well, one thing ends, another thing is just beginning, and we did get a teaser trailer for
00:04The War Between the Land and the Sea. Now, this was only about 30 seconds long, and there wasn't
00:10really much to it in terms of taking away plot elements or anything like that, so this isn't
00:14going to be a full breakdown of the trailer. Obviously, we kind of get the general idea of
00:20what the plot overall is for The War Between the Land and the Sea. The Homo Aqua, or the Sea
00:25Devils,
00:26have, you know, live under the oceans, they were here before we were, we've learnt that
00:31through kind of the Silurians and things like that, and they are unimpressed with how humanity
00:36has treated the Earth, we've destroyed the Earth, and they want to reclaim it and punish
00:41us for destroying the planet, basically for polluting the oceans, so what and so forth,
00:47and what have you. And we kind of get that from this teaser, but other than that, we don't
00:51get much from it, other than the kind of clear relationship that will unfold between Salt
00:57and Barkley. This is a trailer, you know how sometimes trailers give away the entire plot
01:02of what you're about to watch and you're like, well I don't need to watch it now because
01:05that's giving the entire thing away, and other times you watch a trailer and you go, I still
01:09have no idea what's happening, but I'm intrigued. This weirdly did a bit of both, because as
01:13I say, we get what the general plot is, and that's very obvious from what we see in
01:17the trailers. But beyond that, we don't really get much from it in terms of the deeper level
01:22of where the story's going, the interpersonal relationships, more to do with that. We get
01:29the overall idea, but not much more. So yeah, I think visually, I think it does look very
01:33impressive, especially when you look at the streets being filled with the rubbish that I
01:37presume has been removed from the oceans by the sea devils. I think that looks visually
01:42very good. So I'm intrigued and excited to see what this show looks like visually. And
01:48the idea of this tunnel that's come from the Thames, I presume, that goes all the way into
01:52the building so that the Homo Aqua can transport from the oceans into the room where all the discussions
01:59are happening. So I think that's really cool as well. And again, it mirrors this, the idea
02:04of Children of Earth and the 456 coming into the tank, that they can breathe the polluted air.
02:09Lots of comparisons to Children of Earth, which have been discussed by Russell T Davies as well.
02:15So they're very obviously in there. In fact, he even spoke in an interview about how they purposely
02:20reuse certain sets, like corridors and rooms, to kind of try and make it known that these do exist
02:28in the same universe. And it is a very similar situation. And these are the actions that would
02:34take place in this event. And we've seen it happen before in Torchwood, and we're now seeing it
02:38happening again in the war between the land and the sea. We also have now all the episode titles.
02:43So episode one, Homo Aqua. Episode two, Plastic Apocalypse. Both of those will be airing on Sunday
02:48the 7th of December. Episode three, The Deep. Episode four, The Witch of the Waterfall. They're
02:53both airing on Sunday the 14th of December. And then episode five, The End of the War, which
02:58airs on the 21st of December. So looking forward to that. I am intrigued. From what I've heard of the
03:05people who have seen early screenings of it, everyone was very surprised by how much they
03:09enjoyed it and are saying it is actually very, very good. And that's kind of where my thought
03:13process has been going. That a lot of people, I think, have written it off because A, it's
03:17the Sea Devils and B, the main show itself has been so up and down lately that people have lost
03:23a little bit of faith. But I do feel like this could be something good, probably because it is
03:28separate from the main show itself. And if it's anything like Children of Earth, which is,
03:31I think, peak Torchwood, I'm on board. So something else that Russell T. Davis mentioned
03:36at the premiere when being interviewed is that there's a post-credits scene. So he said,
03:42quote, it's a limited series because there is a very, very definite ending. And I would say to
03:46people, stay tuned for the very end post-credits. That doesn't mean the Doctor appears. It stays
03:52within its own universe, but the credits start to roll and you get one of the best scenes ever
03:56recorded in the last seconds. It's a stunning performance from one of the stars of the cast that
04:01I'm very proud of. Hmm. Interesting. Very interesting. I'm just, I really want to give
04:09you a like, I think it's this character and they're going to do this. I have no idea. Could
04:13be something from Barkley if it's to do with Salt. I think there's going to be some, potentially
04:17a romance developing between them. I don't actually know. It just feels like something
04:21that would happen. I actually don't know. The one thing I will say, and I'm glad that
04:25Russell T. Davis has pointed this out here, is please don't let it be the Doctor. I don't
04:30know who it's going to be. I don't know what it's going to be and I want to be surprised
04:33by it, but I'm glad that we have confirmation here that it's not the Doctor. Similarly to
04:37the idea of keeping David Tennant on the back burner all throughout Shooty Gatwa's run,
04:42it just gives an air of a lack of faith in what you've created if you have to keep relying
04:46on someone else to boost it up or that wow moment. And we've spoken so much about these
04:51content moments and bringing the Doctor in at the last minute. I just, no. I like that these
04:57things are separate. It's like, like I say, Torchwood for example, the first two series
05:02maybe there was more mention of the Doctor every now and then and it did tie in to Jack
05:06then returning to series three of Doctor Who. But Children of Earth is so separate and the
05:12only mention the Doctor, the only mention of the Doctor is to basically say he must look
05:16at us and turn away in shame at this planet, at the state of this planet. And I kind of
05:21feel
05:21like from what we know about the plot of the war between the land and the sea, it's the
05:26kind of thing that the Doctor wouldn't interfere with because it's almost like it's an Earth
05:29problem. It's humanity and the sea devils who are also here as well. It's like, it's
05:35not an alien invasion as such. It's two residents of the same planet at odds with each other
05:40over the state of the planet and how they've treated the planet. But it's two residents of
05:44that same planet as opposed to Daleks who come from elsewhere to invade the planet and then
05:49the Doctor steps in to stop them. So this is almost something where he would go, this is
05:53your problem to solve. I have no say in this matter, it's not my planet, almost.
05:58The only question it does raise, and I guess this brings up this whole issue with the bi-generation
06:01is that, the same with the whole of season one and two, what the hell is the fourteenth
06:07Doctor when all this stuff is, what's he doing when all this stuff is happening? Where the
06:11hell is he? And this is the issue of bi-generation is you now have a Doctor who's on Earth
06:15witnessing
06:16all these terrible things happening and you're telling me he's not trying to interfere and help.
06:21Meh. For the love of God, do not let David Tennant appear at the end of the war between the
06:26land and
06:26the sea. So also during this interview with Russell T Davies, he also revealed that he hadn't started
06:32writing the Christmas special for 2026 yet. He said, quote, not at the moment because I'm busy on
06:38the war between the land and the sea. I'm also shooting a show in Manchester, so next year my plate
06:42clears
06:43and we'll get to work on that. But I know exactly what happens in the special, don't worry about that.
06:48So I guess all those leaks that everyone's been seeing can be put to rest because if he's not even
06:52started writing the episode, you can be sure they haven't started filming the episode.
06:57I hate to say I told you so, but we did do a whole video debunking those very, very fake
07:01leaks.
07:02Yeah, interesting. I'm not concerned at this point if he hasn't started writing it yet because we do have a
07:07whole year and it's not that they've got a whole year to produce an entire series, they've got a whole
07:10year for
07:11one episode. So my hope would be the writing will be done early next year, then they can get on
07:16with
07:17with production and post-production after that. So I'm not too concerned. The only thing that kind of makes me
07:23go,
07:24huh, is I'd heard through the grapevine that he had started writing it. So if he has and he's saying
07:29he hasn't, why lie? I don't think there's anything to it though. I think it makes a lot of sense.
07:34If
07:34you're busy with one thing, get that out the way. We're coming to the end of the year. Let's get
07:38the
07:38war between the land and the sea done. Get that out the way. I'd rather his focus was entirely on
07:42one thing than him trying to stretch himself between this other show in Manchester, between the war between
07:47the land and the sea and the Christmas special and for the Christmas special to fall short because it
07:51didn't have his full undivided attention. So if it takes a little bit longer and you've got to start
07:56it next year but your plate is clean, go for it. And the final thing that I want to discuss
08:01with you
08:02is some of you may have seen a rumour floating around that HBO Max has acquired the rights for
08:08Doctor Who. Now I want to just stress that this is not an official announcement by any means
08:14whatsoever and to be honest I feel like this could be more a personal opinion, someone's personal
08:21speculation than anything else but where this all came from essentially is that HBO Max will be
08:26launching in Germany next year and there's an article doing the rounds that has a list of things that
08:32may or that they presume or are likely to move over to HBO Max in Germany and on that list
08:41of things
08:41was Doctor Who. Now from what I can gather I think what's basically happened is that this person has
08:47looked at the things that were on HBO Max in the US and basically gone these are the things that
08:52are
08:52on here in America so these are the things that are going to also be available in Germany without
08:57actually knowing anything. Now there's a tiny tiny chance that they know something we don't
09:01but from what I can gather they've just made an assumption based on what was available on HBO Max
09:06and up until recently HBO Max did host the modern series of Doctor Who in the US that's where you
09:13could watch it. Let's just say this is happening we have spoken about this in previous videos let's
09:19just say this is happening it would make sense for them to not renew it the modern series up until
09:27Jodie Whittaker it would make sense for them not to renew and wait and strike up a new deal which
09:35would
09:36include the new stuff moving forwards we have spoken about that. Also HBO Max is not something
09:42we have in the UK which would be interesting if it were to be the streaming service that joined forces
09:48with Bad Wolf the BBC moving forward with Doctor Who because there were a lot of questions and a
09:54confusion around the fact that well how come it's on Disney plus but not in the UK but we have
09:59Disney
09:59plus in the UK so why is it not on there in the UK and it gets very confusing whereas
10:03if it's a service
10:03that's not available in the UK it makes total sense that it's not there for the UK viewers it's on
10:08the
10:08BBC for the UK viewers and HBO Max elsewhere only issue being HBO Max is also not available everywhere
10:14as I say it's only coming to Germany next year so yes it would make sense if they were the
10:20home of
10:20Doctor Who prior for them to potentially be the home for it in the future for the future series for
10:27what
10:27they make in the future obviously we've discussed the difference between a just a distribution deal
10:33as opposed to a contribution deal that's not actually the right wording I think but you know
10:38there's the deal where they get a lot of input in what's made and all these changes have to be
10:42made
10:42like the Disney deal or it's a deal where it's literally made by the BBC but this streaming service
10:47gets the distribution rights for it outside of the UK so yeah just to kind of shine a light on
10:53that if
10:54you've seen those things flighting floating around or rumors of the hate of HBO being the new home of
11:00Doctor Who there is no solid truth to that but it is interesting obviously maybe they know something
11:08we don't interestingly it was the German Disney plus account that leaked that image of the original
11:14ending of the reality war of that party scene so maybe Germany just likes to give us the leaks
11:19which would be helpful thanks if that's true but yes as I say at this point in time I don't
11:26even
11:27think they know who the next partner is going to be if there's going to be one I think their
11:31focus
11:31at the moment is on the Christmas special and you know they'll be having conversations but I don't
11:38think at this point we can believe any leaks we see or rumors we see about who the next partnership
11:44is
11:44because I don't think even they know at this point all I can say with certainty is it's not Disney
11:49plus
11:50and of course let's not forget the war between the land and the sea is technically still part of the
11:54Disney plus deal so that will be released on Disney plus uh next year at some point we don't actually
12:00know when sorry about that but uh I don't really know I still don't really understand what they're doing
12:06with the whole releasing it at separate times makes no sense but I am I am excited for the war
12:12the war between the land and the sea as I say I I think if it's if it follows this
12:17a similar vein to
12:17children of earth it's going to be really exciting I quite like that it's only five episodes um it
12:23seems to be a very self-contained story it's not going to tease a spin-off spin-off it's not
12:28going to
12:28tease another series it's very much this is the story these five episodes um as long as they don't
12:34kill off kate we'll all be fine or colonel sexy aka colonel ibrahim uh as long as those two are
12:42safe
12:43everything will be hunky-dory in the meantime I've been Ellie for who culture and in the words of
12:47riversong herself goodbye sweeties
12:49you
