00:02And the Japanese Grand Prix is go! Good reaction time, Oscar Piastri!
00:07Max Verstappen knew he was going to get a good time, he squeezed at him,
00:10round the outside goes Lando Norris, big crash, big contact in the middle, side by side, there you go!
00:14Max Verstappen hangs on to the lead, Oscar Piastri is down to third, up to second place goes Lando Norris,
00:19who was brave,
00:20there was a wheel bump in the middle of the race track there and it's one of the Alpines heading
00:24backwards,
00:24there's damage for an Alfa Romeo, but Verstappen Jolyon had to get his elbows out
00:29and he maintained the lead! Yeah he did really well to do so, defending inside and outside,
00:33the two Alfa Tauris side by side of Sonoda going up the inside of Liam Lawson who got him at
00:37the start,
00:38I don't know how Verstappen kept the lead there with Norris charging on the outside and Piastri there on the
00:42inside.
00:43Oh it's very very tight on the inside with the two Alfa Tauris squeezing each other all the while,
00:48are they going to make contact, Liam Lawson gets ahead, car number 40 powers ahead of his teammate,
00:54so it's losing positions off the line, Yuki Sonoda down two places, 2.11.
00:58Yeah Lawson's got himself up into the top ten and the safety car is out,
01:04Piastri on the inside almost goes onto the grass himself, there's the touch,
01:07Perez and Hamilton have a little touch, then there's another one further back,
01:11wow that was big contact for Albin.
01:14This is on board with Kevin Magnussen, has his path blocked and he's going to get a good view of
01:19the contact,
01:19that's amazing that that Williams is still pointing in a straight line.
01:23That is Valtteri Bottas off the road.
01:25What the f***?
01:28Here's what happens to Bottas then around the outside, oh he gets a whack from Sargent.
01:34Dive bomb move from George Russell on his teammate, Hamilton had to give him the space and George
01:39Russell will have a smile a mile wide there because he's made the pass at the chicane but Hamilton will
01:45not take that lying down. The two Mercedes not at the front of the field like they were last week,
01:50over some debris goes George Russell there, Hamilton trying to retake seventh position,
01:54Russell thought about nibbling back and Hamilton retakes the place.
01:58And there is Valtteri Bottas' day and he's gone out in the early part of the race today.
02:06Another late lunge, oh contact, unbelievable round goes the house, contact again for Perez.
02:14Have a nose to the inside, he's coming from a long way back, he's nowhere near, oh it's,
02:19it's really poor, it's really poor from Perez, that was a pretty poor looking move.
02:26And Sergio Perez has been told to retire the car. This is a hugely fast part of the race track
02:34as
02:34we plunge downhill and you try to make the corner as wide as possible, trying to sweep around the
02:39outside and no room given, both Mercedes off the road. They might not be at the very front of the
02:44field this week but they're continuing to give us amazing entertainment.
02:51Who do we want to fight here, each other or the others?
02:55This needs to be another classic Red Bull stop. So many of the best pit stops this year have gone
03:01the way of this team and he goes out, 3.3 is okay, that is the driver that he's worrying
03:07about on the
03:08exit of the corner and they have played that to perfection, once again really well timed and
03:13executed for Red Bull, track position for Verstappen over Piastri as Hamilton comes in
03:18to get rid of those medium tyres.
03:22That is a wide moment for George Russell and through goes Verstappen, so Russell not fighting it even if
03:29he wanted to. It's another quick move, we're going through the right hander, we're getting the spoon
03:35and we move ahead. So Charles Leclerc ticking off the places nicely. And now we're looking at Carlos Sainz all
03:43over the back of his childhood hero. Fernando Alonso was the driver who started the Spanish love
03:48affair with Formula One and he isn't going to be able to keep him behind for too much longer. There
03:53goes the Ferrari driver, the outside line will eventually turn into the inside line and it will
03:57eventually turn into seventh place for Carlos Sainz.
04:00He'll have a run this time down towards the chicane, no DRS at this stage, he's going to be right
04:04with him
04:05through 130R. And Hamilton going for the move on Alonso with the 130R, these two great side by side
04:11and it's another great moment of brinkmanship, Alonso knowing there's nothing he could do to fight back.
04:23So Lando Norris finally takes second position after asking for the team order for the swap
04:28very early on, had to wait a couple of laps but he's finally up to second place.
04:35As Alonso gets ever closer, he turns that into a traction race, that is going to turn into ninth
04:40position. Tsunoda at his home race doesn't want to give the place away and once again we're seeing
04:44plenty of racing at this part of the circuit. Today down the hill at the 220R and then into the
04:50spoon curve and position gained for Fernando Alonso now in ninth place.
04:56Pressure on the pit crews as they make these stops we were expecting two before the day.
05:02At the start of the Grand Prix, one is pretty adventurous.
05:07I can't win another car, yeah. Yes, confirm.
05:11Here comes the move for second position. It will be eventually and this is going to be a tidy pass
05:18to
05:18the inside. It's only for third at the moment but it will be P2 later on. This is a DRS
05:24zone now for
05:24Piastri. There's the inside defensive shape and around the outside to take his place on the podium and he will
05:31bolt. He will give it everything he's got now. The Australian driver up to third.
05:38Leclerc closer this time. Russell has to defend it. Here we go. Trying to go the long way round.
05:42That's what it looks like if you're trying to overtake it to turn one. What great pictures! Crowd love that
05:48move.
05:50We'll invert positions. Be careful of signs with DRS though.
05:54Why don't we involve the last stop? And he just hit a DRS like last week. Unless he's fighting for
06:01a big result.
06:02So it's an instruction George. Swap positions. And he's going to feather out the throttle. Does
06:08Hamilton take the place? Yes he does to the inside and then he tries to jump back in. Russell listening
06:14to
06:14the team's instruction. And here's the chance standing on the power as we go down the main straight.
06:20Russell needs that DRS. He's got the DRS but he's also got Carlos Sainz tucked right underneath him.
06:25Russell's going to lose the position. Into turn one goes Carlos Sainz to take the place away and take sixth
06:31place.
06:33Max Verstappen comes out of the final corner for the final time. Max Verstappen wins the Japanese Grand Prix.
06:39Red Bull are champions of the world for the sixth time. They take the Constructors title for the second year
06:47in a row.
06:48The sixth time in team history. Max that was absolutely fantastic. That was 19.4 ahead of the rest of
06:57the field.
06:57And that wins us our sixth Constructors World Clip Championship. So congratulations and thank you very much.
07:04You were totally awesome and dominant this weekend. Yeah, unbelievable guys. You deserve that. What an unbelievable season we are
07:11having.
07:11You can all be very proud here at the track back at the factory. Everyone is unbelievable.
07:18A 13th Grand Prix win of the year. A 48th all time for Max Verstappen who is into the arms
07:24of his world champion team once again.
07:27His second win at Suzuka and both times he's crossed the line to win this race. Either he or the
07:33team have won the title. It's the team this year.
07:35The next time the five red lights go out for the sprint race in Qatar. Verstappen has his first chance
07:41to take the title.
07:43It lights up when you kiss the back of the trophy. Max Verstappen does as instructed and it works perfectly.
