Short documentary film "Loud Silence" - Peace Education Program at the First Children's Embassy in the World MEGJASHI
In the documentary film, teachers, students, and program implementers share their perspectives, highlighting its transformative role—both at the individual level and within the broader community. Special emphasis is placed on the regional dimension of peace education and its significance in the context of contemporary social challenges.

The Peace Education Program has been implemented in the country for 15 years and represents a unique example of building a culture of peace and nonviolence. To date, 76 schools, over 300 teachers, and more than 8,000 students have been involved. More than 100 trainings have been conducted, through which participants have gained practical skills in nonviolent communication, conflict management, trust-building, and cooperation.

“The Peace Education Program is not just a project, but a values-driven initiative that creates long-term social change. It is essential, especially in times of division—religious, social, linguistic, and economic—as it lays the foundation for a more just and inclusive society,” it was emphasized at the event.

00:13The peace is a very broad meaning.
00:17The peace is not just the end of the war.
00:19The peace is the tolerance, the love is the support and the most important work in life.
00:27The peace is the same, and the same thing is the same.
00:34It's not about a big bang, but it's about the small steps of everyday life.
00:39Love, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
00:46I love you, I love you.
00:49The peace is the same for me.
00:50The peace is the same for me, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I
01:00love you, I love you.
01:11The peace is the same for me, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
01:31The peace is the same for me.
01:34The peace is the same for me.
01:36The peace is the same for me.
01:36I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
01:37In any context, in any segment.
01:39The peace is not a quiet, but a quiet, daily action for the social change.
02:03Peace probably has many meanings, but I think the most important one is to connect it to a certain vision.
02:29The implementation of the program for peace education began in the post-conflict period,
02:36in 2011, when it began to become evident changes in society, in daily life,
02:49began to feel the consequences of the conflict.
02:53There was a segregation in the education, and there was a lot of information
02:56and we saw that there was something to do as an organization for protection
03:03and to make the decision on the children and the organization,
03:05which gave me the education of peace education,
03:08to start something about it.
03:10In 2009, by the way,
03:15from the beginning of the Center for violence,
03:21I began to think about the application that we needed to give.
03:26It was clear that the subject should be peace education.
03:34What is the need for peace education?
03:36With the same program for peace education, we began in 2011,
03:41and I have to say that it was necessary.
03:46It was necessary because our society was too late.
03:49In the end of the day, there was no longer created
03:51a cohesive, a unification, a unification,
03:54a unification, a unification, a unification,
03:56a unification, a unification,
04:03and a unification, a unification,
04:05a unification, and a unification.
04:07It was a very difficult time.
04:08We started with three classes in Skopje.
04:13We had only 20 students in the beginning,
04:17who had to mention the importance of the support.
04:20It was a pilot program in three schools.
04:26when we were at the moment when we were at 29 schools and 25 schools in Vilore.
04:38All the knowledge of the new methodology that we need to use,
04:46is used to be used by the students.
04:48They started it and implemented it in the students.
04:54The teachers are actually implementing their activities.
04:58They go through trainings with the Peace Education Programme
05:01and they're getting embedded in the Peace Education Network.
05:05And then the power starts.
05:08The teachers are actually implementing their own activities in the classroom.
05:11And this is where the magic happens for me.
05:14The teachers are multiplying the effect of the Peace Education Programme
05:18and it's spreading nationwide.
05:29What is the purpose of the Peace Education Programme?
05:31In the Peace Education Programme, Professor Besim proposed in 2019,
05:37I went to the basic training.
05:41I didn't know the first time I was able to do it,
05:44But as I was able to take a kon sheet of the actions,
05:48I changed my work and how I needed to get guests together.
05:53Most of the time I was able to do,
05:57I ended up being worried about growing,
06:00when we were set for a passionate setting.
06:01and it costs more than ever.
06:04I started training in the first group of colleagues,
06:08and then I started training in the first group,
06:12and as a coordinator, I was able to provide
06:16different people, different people,
06:19and to be balanced with all of them,
06:22and to take care of them for the generator.
06:27I was listening to my parents.
06:30I didn't know what happened to me and how it was planned to work there, but it was a
06:42hard time, and it was one of, to say, the best things.
06:50I was surprised my colleagues, I listened to them, they came to the media, seminars, trainings,
07:02and I was able to turn on them, it was like a breakthrough,
07:09but now I was very happy that I was a part of it.
07:13Now, we believed that we were a big family, where we were happy to feel.
07:22First time, we started in January 2016,
07:27it was about 10 years ago, as a school, we were active in promoting
07:33peace activities from different types.
07:37We had a huge number of activities in which we were included
07:41of various creative activities, whether it's literary, musical,
07:48cultural activities, in which we constantly
07:51represent different human benefits, which are important,
07:56which are important for maintaining peace as one of the highest
08:03and most significant benefits in the life of a man.
08:07What is the role of the culture?
08:09In the program for the education program, I was one of the first
08:14professors in the far-league of 2012, when the education program was
08:24the idea of a fundamental education of the education center.
08:30It was for the main education center for the educational institution,
08:32It has its own value and it has to create a better value system in the schools.
08:43I am asking them and asking them to be able to do this land.
08:48I do not want them to be able to do this.
08:52And this is the right thing.
09:02We have to develop a lot of activities in our school.
09:06We have different types of activities, different debates,
09:10different presentations, different activities,
09:13different activities, different activities,
09:16different activities, theater, and workshops.
09:19In fact, it was successful.
09:21The students were able to play this game
09:24and we were able to watch the day.
09:26We worked with them as much as they were talking about,
09:29how much they want to work,
09:31how much they are interested in the same things
09:33that are being discussed from the same human education.
09:36The whole activity, in some way,
09:37is a form of discussion,
09:39of conversation, and after that,
09:41it is often a big bubble,
09:42and often, during the game,
09:44the activity that, from day to day,
09:48even the same ones are being held.
09:50When they come to the program,
09:53it happens,
09:54in the last year,
09:55when they come to the program,
09:57it takes three hours.
09:59You can't finish the program,
10:03so they have the need to debate
10:06and tell them what is wrong,
10:08how to make a better school,
10:11how to make a better school,
10:12how to make a better job,
10:13and how to prevent them
10:15the problems that happen.
10:19The relevant ministries,
10:21in fact,
10:21the relevant institutions
10:23for the public education,
10:24they knew the plan of the public education,
10:29and they were punished for this.
10:32The result is that
10:34we have signed a memorandum
10:37for the cooperation
10:37with the Ministry of Education and the Shkence.
10:40Now,
10:41we have signed a memorandum
10:43for the cooperation of this ministry.
10:46I find the impact
10:48that the peace education program
10:50here at McJasi is showing,
10:51is the institutionalization
10:53of peace education.
10:55They work,
10:56as well as from the bottom up,
10:58but they're also working
10:59with the institutions.
11:02We, first of all,
11:03as a Ministry,
11:05we asked them
11:06to participate
11:07in these courses,
11:08and we received
11:09the needs of these courses,
11:10by simply
11:11the reason
11:12that, before,
11:14we only hear
11:15that the teachers
11:15have courses,
11:17and the teachers
11:17have courses,
11:18and we
11:18don't know
11:19why they work,
11:20for any type of courses.
11:22Now, we said
11:22let's see,
11:23and we have to participate.
11:24And,
11:25we had a few courses,
11:28and we knew
11:29the value in the world.
11:31The work
11:31came forward,
11:33we decided
11:34to form a coordinated body,
11:38which will be
11:39composed
11:39of the members of the
11:40the Ministry of Education
11:41and the Ministry of Education,
11:43which will work
11:44on the institutionalization.
11:47The interest of the
11:49education,
11:49most often,
11:50is found
11:52when there are serious
11:52problems,
11:53and that's why
11:54the need for institutionalization
11:56and that
11:58form of
11:59clear,
12:00linear
12:00determination
12:01that we will work
12:01in that field,
12:02is very important.
12:04During the time,
12:06the enthusiasm
12:07is not formal,
12:08as I said,
12:09with careful
12:10expectations,
12:11the preparation,
12:12the proper work,
12:13it is clear
12:14that
12:15that
12:15it is not only
12:17that it is necessary,
12:18but it is necessary
12:19if it is necessary
12:20or if it is necessary
12:21or if it is necessary
12:22or if it is necessary.
12:24Even though
12:25we don't have
12:25support,
12:26it means that
12:27it is already
12:28missing.
12:29It is forgotten.
12:30Even though
12:30it is repeated,
12:32it is remembered.
12:33As a result of that,
12:35I think that
12:36the education
12:37is one of
12:38the most important
12:39and
12:40the most quality
12:43projects
12:44that have been
12:45changed,
12:45it is not a project,
12:47it is not a project,
12:48it is a process,
12:48it is already
12:48changed,
12:50the number of students,
12:52the teachers,
12:53the teachers,
12:54the networks,
12:55it is changed,
12:55due to the interest of
12:57We are not willing to
12:57them,
12:58but only
12:59they can
13:01end
13:02in this big
13:04process.
13:05I am
13:06optimistic
13:06that
13:08there are
13:08generations
13:09of all
13:10those
13:10who create
13:12policies
13:14in the education system
13:15in our country
13:15and have
13:17the need
13:17to be a part
13:19of the
13:20whole
13:20education
13:21and education
13:22and peace
13:23in the education system
13:25in our country.
13:29when you look at the results today
13:31where peace education
13:33has been established
13:35throughout Macedonia,
13:36if you just look back
13:38a few years from today,
13:39this would have been probably
13:41an impossible dream to have,
13:44especially in a place like
13:46Macedonia,
13:47with its history,
13:48with its diversity,
13:51the creation of peace education
13:54throughout schools in Macedonia
13:56is a huge success
13:58and achievement,
13:59and what it actually means is
14:01that people start to believe
14:03that there is a different future
14:05ahead,
14:06that you are not only connected
14:08to the past
14:09and problems of the past,
14:10that you can look into the future
14:12and when you think about it,
14:15what we are looking at,
14:16we have the past
14:17and trying to deal with it,
14:19trying maybe to reinterpret the past
14:21and to see what actually happened
14:24and through the trainings,
14:25Medjashi is offering,
14:28we are trying to shape the present
14:30and the peace education
14:31having been established
14:32in the schools in Macedonia
14:35is trying to shape the future
14:36because through peace education,
14:38you are dealing with the children
14:40who is the next generation
14:42and the future of this country.
14:49I am not sure
14:50but the future of the day
14:57is on the other side of the class...
15:07I am not sure
15:08and I am not sure
15:09but I am not sure
15:11who is in the future
15:12and I you know
15:13a conference for the 4th anniversary of the 1st school district.
15:21During the 1st school district, after 33 years,
15:23we managed to implement a program that was necessary for our society.
15:32A society where there are many real needs to work
15:38and with the students, and with the students.
15:52For more than 4 years ago, we realized that we are a great family.
16:04We are a great family, not because of it,
16:07but because of the students often say that we are a great family.
16:14We realized that we need to create a space
16:17where we can meet all of them together,
16:22a non-formal space,
16:23to see, to talk about,
16:25to make new jobs,
16:28to talk about different topics.
16:31And that's how we start with a peaceful environment.
16:34The first peaceful environment, the second, the third,
16:37and now the fourth,
16:38and we decided to call it a conference.
16:42The first time, the second, the third,
16:44we have to have a strong relationship,
16:45and we're not going to expect all of them.
16:55We like all of them.
17:03Always continue.
17:04If you just imagine, starting by an idea, probably somewhere in the living room, coming to this point today in
17:112025, and having an interview about peace education being part of a curriculum in Macedonia.
17:19This is something which shows us that even dreams can come true, and so this dream should be connected to
17:29a bigger dream, and I personally believe that it can come true, and it will come true, and with all
17:36the efforts we put in it together.
