00:03Connor. Yes. We hear you love languages and accents. Other than Russian, what's your favorite?
00:10Ooh, I'm kind of always switching between languages. Right now, I really want to learn
00:16Spanish. I'm from West Texas, so I've always heard Spanish. And living in LA, there's Spanish
00:21everywhere. So it doesn't feel very, like, exotic to me because I've heard it my whole life. But
00:28I think it's sexy. Spanish is muy sexy. Yes, I think Colombian Spanish, I think, is the
00:36sexiest language there is. I like the traditional Spain-Spanish. Spain-Spanish.
00:40Vamos a la playa de Barcelona. Barcelona. Con Javier Baidén. Yeah. And Vanela Bicruz.
00:47Ana de Armas. Ana de Armas. She's Cuban, right? She's Cuban. Okay. Pretty girl. Okay.
00:53This year marks 20 years since Brokeback Mountain. Are there any MM romance movies,
00:58shows, or books that have really stuck with you, either growing up or recently?
01:02Well, I love Brokeback Mountain. It was one of the first things that you told me.
01:06Yeah. Yeah. I love Keith Ledger plays Ennis. I still think it's his best work. I think that
01:11was one of the first pivotal ones when you have two leading men take on, you know, gay cowboys.
01:18It's pretty bold. But then, you know, you have Call Me By Your Name, Moonlight, I think with
01:23Barry Jenkins saying, bringing the art house to the hood is what he said. That was already just
01:29a beautiful juxtaposition. And then having, you know, he said he wanted to redefine masculinity
01:34with that movie, which I thought was so cool. Yeah. Call Me By Your Name, I think, was like
01:38pretty revolutionary. Yeah. Yeah. I was in high school at that time. And I remember that being the
01:42first thing that felt like it was really a part of the cultural zeitgeist. And also handled like,
01:51it also handled queer stories in a really cool way where it was so under the surface and it made
01:56it so human, you know, which I think also was kind of like a moonlight scenario where we're taking
02:03these people in such a specific time and place and like letting them explore love.
02:08Right. What does smut mean to you?
02:14I'm going to try to make an acronym. Sexy. This is going to be in relation to, um,
02:20to Ember and Ice.
02:23Ember and Ice. Sexy. Magic. Um, Universe.

02:59fan and what is it like to see fans instantly rally behind you especially the ones that say
03:03you have the face the talent and the butt i will be completely honest i when i saw like some
03:10fan
03:10art of you as nightwing i was like blown away whoa like i i i mean you never know if
03:17that's
03:17going to come to fruition or not but yeah i see like someone did you in the comic book style
03:22i
03:22was like i see it right away wow yeah i would i would love to play him i love dc
03:28i love um i loved
03:30all like comic books that were true to the source material um and i think you know there are a
03:40lot
03:40of good filmmakers who like bring their own style to these you know beloved um um comics that i think
03:47it would be really great to work with them you know i'm not fully set on nightwing you know i'm
03:52open to other things um did you always want to be in like did is superheroes no always something
03:59that's been like i absolutely not it's just it's when really good filmmaker it's it's filmmaker driven
04:06so when like a guy like james gunn um or matt reeves you know comes to comics it i think
04:12that's what
04:13draws me um and and i heard james gunn is doing the the teen titans i know there's yeah but
04:19yeah
04:21james gunn he's in love with you true or false hudson is more like ilia in real life and connor
04:27is
04:27more like shane i think me and you are both like rose and i'm like svetlana i just said me
04:34and you
04:34are both like rose but i'm just i'm just parting ways that's so svetlana for you to say um i
04:41don't know
04:42i mean maybe i do feel like ilia i don't know i think that um i i'm i'm too sensitive
04:49or outwardly
04:51sensitive or don't have a lot of shame around emotion to be ilia i could be a little cocky
04:55like ilia yeah but beyond that it's like i think shane and ilia sort of share us you know soulfulness
05:03that's kind of buried under all these you know walls and kind of um uh masks but i think
05:10i think underneath that what we both relate with both of them is you know the the heart and and
05:16their soul after wrapping heated rivalry you two got matching tattoos that say sex sales and if true
05:22how did that happen um i did i have a reason for coming up to vancouver i just wanted to
05:28come see
05:28yeah come hang out am i not good enough come on yeah i just i don't know why for a
05:33second i was
05:33like i have something to do up there i have nothing to do in vancouver i was there so yeah
05:39i just went
05:39up to see um i just came up to see you we knew we wanted to get matching tattoos i
05:44hadn't gotten a
05:45tattoo in forever um and we were just shuffling through ideas and yeah i think you came up with sex
05:52but like we were both pitching ideas and then like one person would like them the other person wouldn't
05:57and then when you said sex sales i was like oh we were sold that's the first idea you've had
06:01that's
06:01good i think it's honestly my most well done tattoo as well so that feels good the front of my
06:06shin
06:07pull in here zoom in okay true or false you ate a pound of beef of ground beef a day
06:14while filming
06:15heated rivalry true um connor told me what his routine was and after i saw him in person
06:22um i asked him how he got to that size i thought he was taking illicit substances he wasn't
06:28he does it super clean sorry i mentioned illicit substances um but i have nothing to hide bring it
06:34on but he was so
06:37just like so i was like what are you eating freak i was like i'm eating
06:45and he just couldn't speak and he just kept doing that and i was like i think that means ground
06:49beef um you're like that level of capability is what i need and then connor was actually the person
06:55who put me onto fiber because if you need to eat the protein you want to get you know ilia
07:01cheeks
07:02um and chests you need so much fiber just so your stomach doesn't shut down and you go into cardiac
07:08arrest and you get carried out from your your little workout on a stretcher with some you know
07:14pumped up pecs and a shut down fucking you look you look good digestive system it's really unfortunate
07:19if it ends that way yeah yeah i actually um i'm gonna one up this true or false i actually
07:24think that
07:25we ate more than a pound of beef yeah because a pound of beef only has i think 84 grams
07:30of protein
07:30and you need a solid 200 if you're going through size and shape so sometimes i can eat two pounds
07:37of
07:37ground beef a day plus like 10 eggs yeah and so many salads i was having so much salad because
07:42by
07:43the end i got like gained 10 pounds so like when i started shooting i was like and by the
07:47end i was
07:48like 10 pounds heavier and it was because of yeah you i mean you're very inspiring i'm glad that we
07:53had each other because it would have been really hard to be motivated if you know we were going back
07:58to our 12 hour days and then the gym and then like going back to a residence like alone it's
08:02really
08:02it's nice that i got to be like hi son let's go to gym and we would go from a
08:09fucking 11 hour day
08:10skating lesson and connor would go let's do legs and i and i looked him he's a madman that's how
08:15he
08:16has a butt he'll finish a skating lesson that takes four hours and then go legs now and i was
08:21like what
08:22are you saying i okay i knew i had a responsibility to the people he's america's ass and i i
08:30take that
08:31very seriously romance readers are famously passionate about book adaptations did you feel
08:37any pressure bringing a beloved story to life and how did you approach making the characters your own
08:42it's good i think to go into a project accepting that you know people might be disappointed especially
08:49with something like a book where everyone already has preconceived notions they've visioned they've
08:53envisioned these characters they've drawn these characters they've gotten tattoos of these characters
08:58like the love is already there so much that ultimately someone is going to be disappointed
09:03all you can do is is read the material as much as you possibly can yeah and um and respect
09:12it show
09:13the respect show the dedication and just hope that people you know connect with it and love it and
09:18see that enthusiasm i think we both had that level of whether you want to call it nihilism or not
09:23like people might just hate this people might hate your casting or they might hate my casting
09:28i'm not going to expect anything more and uh i'm just going to do the best i can but you
09:34have really
09:35no metric of if people are going to be warm to your your take i really think at the end
09:40of the day all
09:40you can do is be really intentional give it a hundred and fifty percent yeah just go for it you
09:47know yeah and luckily for us this worked out really freaking well
09:55hudson we have heard rumors about a very serious multi-step korean skincare routine can you break it
10:00down for us it's not that lengthy yeah i always made fun of you for it too because i like
10:05honestly
10:06i'm just kind of jealous because you have really good skin um but i was like yeah your skin routine
10:11and then it's actually not that long it's not that long it's okay i'm gonna tell you in the morning
10:17i use water to cleanse my face warm water and then i put on a glow toner but it's pretty
10:24dry it's not
10:25like i don't like when people have like dewy skin like if i see someone it looks like they just
10:28wore a face
10:29mask i'm like why are you out right now like go go wipe that off and then come talk to
10:33me because i
10:34won't right now um and then so my toner and then i'll put on um a serum and then sunscreen
10:41and then
10:42sometimes instead of a serum i put on a moisturizer and then my pm routine is an oil cleanser you
10:48know
10:48to get out these blackheads to get the the gunk out um and then i'll either use like a cerave
10:55normal ass cleanser or i'll use like a poor shrinking cleanser that's their new that's their
11:00new slogan survey normal ass cleanser i think that is i yeah i also and then like a poor shrink
11:09or poor
11:09shrinking cleanser if that's my goal and then the same thing toner serum and then either a retinol or
11:15salicylic acid and then i go to fucking sleep so i think everyone in the studio agrees that was a
11:22lot
11:22well i will also say i mean it makes sense you have flawless skin so and then when i take
11:29it off
11:29it just falls apart yeah he unhooks the he unhooks the clip back here in the back keeps it all
11:36up
11:36connor yes story yes do you have a favorite spicy scene from heated rivalry and a favorite from ember
11:42and ice what makes those stand out for you my favorite spicy scene from ember and ice is actually
11:47a scene where dane um is with two former lovers cassandra and elijah yep
11:58i need you to i need you to be here with me okay um dane has an interaction with uh
12:05two of his
12:06former lovers um after having been with finn for some time and uh yeah not to spoil but he he
12:15ends up
12:15realizing that what what really works for him isn't working for him anymore and it's kind of this
12:21moment of identity loss and you know what what pleases me isn't pleasing me the same i think that's
12:27really cool because it's also it's because it's cool because it's like sexy and spicy but it also is
12:32really revealing of the character and the connection and where he's at you know um and i think it's funny
12:38i think i remember dane saying something about um he's like he's like and then the next thing i did
12:43was
12:44i just had to come up with uh an excuse and then he's like he's like my friends i have
12:48bad news
12:50i have a lot from ember and ice but one is the lake scene where we kind of go in
12:56together and you
12:57kind of coax out of me without spoiling too much i think that one's just you know a lot of
13:02times like
13:02the intimacy before intimacy i think it has more of a charge in a way that one really got me
13:09um
13:10frothing at the mouth and heated rivalry favorite intimate scene there's one that was really fun to
13:17film do you remember filming the stair step scene when we're like kissing against the glass and our
13:21lips never come apart me and you were like do people do this do people like i know it's always
13:27a fun
13:27balance right of like when you're filming um separate from like the audio space when you're filming
13:33it's like how much of it is fun tv and then how much of it is like is like true
13:41sex because at the
13:42end of the day you know you do have in real life people do have those those like movie moments
13:46where
13:46you're like you know you're like yeah yeah yeah and then everyone on set was like oh yeah no we
13:51i've done that and then connor and i were like oh oh we usually fold our clothes place them down
13:57and
13:57go upstairs naked and go sex now sex now i'm robot plug me in true or false hudson's roommates
14:07once kept a mooning tally of how many times he flashed them do you know how many times i know
14:14that
14:14you i've yeah i remember this yep it's true it was one roommate um and i i mooned him 31
14:22times what
14:23was his reaction when you moved him was he like hudson her poor name was chelsea i i i've talked
14:31with
14:31her and chelsea has been like you can say my name and i was like so i've since talked about
14:35this since
14:36double consent uh double consent um and uh poor chelsea would just go i think her main reaction
14:41was like oh and it made me so happy where where is chelsea now and i i developed different techniques
14:54over the years um she's chilling she's got a cat that's like hanging off her walls um but i would
15:00go
15:00and i would do like a drive-by at all these different techniques and then she would bring like other
15:04you
15:05know um romantic interests home and then they're like what's this tally up on the board and they're
15:10like oh that's how many times hudson my roommate has mooned me and they were like would you just
15:15like kind of butt crack it or would you full so i had one where i would get pants low
15:21like i would
15:22de-pants and she would be unassuming like maybe on her phone on the couch and i would run by
15:27and jump
15:28in the air so i was like a like like a like a literal moon a literal moon but in
15:33fast motion
15:34sometimes i would just do the like oh drop something before we leave bend and i'm right
15:39there gotcha oh god yes no they they got very athletic but we need to clarify if you were gonna
15:47moon someone yeah a close friend chelsea is still my close friend make it make it known that this is
15:52okay yep she got a who do not moon people you don't know in places it's not okay hudson as
16:01an asian
16:01actor leading such a hugely popular queer romance what kind of stories or roles are you excited for
16:06more people to see you in going forward
16:08um yeah i i wanna i wanna represent my my wasians out there you know um i have been declared
16:18do you
16:19know about this i'm declared the i think princess or prince of wajia me i mean i i sign off
16:28on it okay
16:28i think you he's the final stamp off guy for this so uh yeah i'm the i'm the ambassador of
16:35wajia as a
16:36fully as a completely caucasian yes but uh as as uh this um little wajian i am i hope
16:45to just do roles that aren't always charged with you know i'm happy to do roles that are you know
16:52race has something to to play in there but also i just want to be an actor and a lot
16:57of times i just
16:58want to play parts where it's like i'm i'm just there and we don't need to go in my backstory
17:03or
17:03whatever it's just you know i'm playing with any other uh non-person of color would play as well
17:11you know you're a person you want to be treated i'm a person love it baby on both heated rivalry
17:17and ember and ice you worked with an intimacy coordinator um why do you think that role
17:22matters on projects like this was there anything about the process that you think would surprise
17:26people wow i mean i think it's so um yeah that's a yeah that question is i mean it's so
17:33important i
17:34mean you you literally can't do things without that role um the thing that i think would shock people
17:42about the role of intimacy coordinating is it's not just about and this is what i learned from chayla
17:49originally and then also jamie doing this it's not just about the actual safety the boundaries
17:55monitoring what's going on what that looks like making sure everyone's okay there's also actually
18:01a conjunction of an artistic edge where you are like jamie with this you know was also the voice
18:09that was reminding us this is how long it's been since this happened you know you need to i need
18:14to
18:14hear that shiver or that i need to hear those um i need to hear that feeling through your wings
18:21i need
18:21to see that come about i need to feel that pleasure in this way so it's not always technical
18:26even though that's what i feel like is brought up a lot there is also an artistic sensibility to that
18:31job and that really promotes that conversation absolutely bring in the first ginger ale
18:38this is so fun we have canada dry we have schweps we have can you can someone give me a
18:45rundown of
18:45the brand nope you're gonna try and we're gonna go i don't i've only named two from memory well how
18:50about this i'll hold it so we don't we don't give away anything yep that's my hudson that's my hudson
19:03that's not canada dry this is some shitty american ginger ale this is like schweps or like
19:11um yeah that's my guess it you said it's not canada dry why is it not canada dry yeah canada
19:17dry has got more ginger in it and more bubble in it it's just subtle ginger yeah go ahead and
19:23should
19:23be blindfolded where is this imported from this this is this is no no way it says from frisco texas
19:39nope
19:41i don't i don't this is it changed it changed bring in ginger ale number two that is so embarrassing
19:50thank you so much this one was that one was canada dry what is this one i'm good i'm num
19:58num
19:59i'm num num you're my baby drink more okay this is cough syrup this is this is yellow snow what
20:12is this
20:12a pissy pineapple a pissy pineapple but that's the brand hudson i have to guess the brand
20:20that bye yeah this is schweps okay this one is schweps
20:29i am so happy that i'm not the one tasting these because if i was getting them wrong i'd feel
20:35like an
20:35idiot no i'm kidding stupid no you're not i mean they they really set you up give me another one
20:45do you have more bring me bring in how many more bring in the last to me oh this one's
20:54a hard one thank
20:56you oh no that's um that's fever tree ginger um um beer hudson open what what what there's a there's
21:21a secondary flavor do you want to smell test too you want to do like no it's just ginger no
21:30but do
21:30like an aromatics test go full som vibes do you smell that oh it's hard to it's hard to smell
21:41it's
21:41fucking ginger pear fucking it's ginger yeah i'm gonna be honest he would never be able to unders
21:47you can't taste that flavor at all let's see what blood orange good job you can't taste that at all
21:54you put food coloring in you didn't put no blood orange in there i will say i kind of like
21:59this
21:59one though that one sounds nice i like all of them but i guess the brand did i not you
22:04killed it
22:05when did you first realize you clicked and what are some of your favorite memories from working
22:10together i would say our first face time outside of a chemistry read because at that point i was
22:16always shane he was always ilia but then when we first met over face time before we went to toronto
22:23um we had so many like so much overlap of movies we liked actors we liked um art we liked
22:31and similar
22:31approaches to how we you know like to perform um that i immediately knew i think we clicked there and
22:38and i think that's saying a lot because i think some of our our interests can be pretty
22:42niche the fact that there is overlap is amazing yeah and favorite memories i would say all our laughs
22:50on set being in muskoka um was really beautiful there was a lot of like lounging around um you know
22:59it was just great my favorite memories of working with you are also the laughs what's what's like an
23:04inside joke that we just died over the whole time um we had a storm the set that was also
23:11with oh yeah
23:12i would always be like storm bus if we couldn't afford extras our idea was we would just like
23:18do like a cattle call we used to joke that like we um because we would have like airport scenes
23:24and
23:24stuff where there would be like you know for an airport you need like you need a bunch of people
23:28and we'd have like five people and i just imagined um i imagined jacob being like being like costumes
23:35get up there and everyone's like taking off their mics and he's like storm the set opening the garage
23:41and just like opening it up to the public how does it feel to accidentally launch a workout movement
23:49i can't i honestly still cannot believe that that was someone's takeaway from this you know i like
23:56i think i look a little too shabby i'm i'm in the process of gaining weight you know yeah i
24:01was
24:01when you look you look freaking fantastic well bring it back to most of us muchas gracias
24:05de nada corazón de melón ah mi hermoso no esposo mi amor todo mi corazón
24:13um yeah i people people like our bodies let's just be honest about it people you know i care about
24:21my
24:21health i care about my fitness as do you um honestly watching the show is making
24:26us work out even more yeah so what drew you to doing a fey romanicy story and what was it
24:32about
24:32the script that hooked you for me it was exploring sensuality with with your voice you know that's
24:39the only tool you have and it kind of scared me a little bit and you know that there was
24:45a really fun
24:46way to explore yourself it was fun it was actually fun and you know it's very demanding and it's well
24:51written i think in the booth the term winged hemingway came up you know fantastical hemingway
25:01because there was like war there's like this romance that's forbidden and it seems doomed uh in
25:09a lot of ways um and that was way heavier than i thought you know this would look like and
25:16it was
25:16really rewarding the story just moves really well too um it was just written really well
25:22uh as someone who you know is not a big reader i think something like this would be really appealing
25:29to me um just the way it it cycles through the feelings it cycles through the years and point of
25:35view yeah yeah i just think it's really like almost physically well done why do you think mm romance
25:41resonates so strongly with women right now mm yeah we've we've both talked about this and kind
25:48of been intrigued by it um there's so many reasons there's so many reasons and then even just women
25:53you know there are straight women there are trans women there are um gay women like queer women it's it's
26:00um well that feels like a giant term to be like i know exactly what um you know there's like
26:08the element
26:08of you can live vicariously and you can feel safe um like with women this is just one opinion that
26:14i
26:14had never even considered or thought of um that i saw that i think you're alluding to which is if
26:20you
26:20are female um and you are you were taken out of the equation there's and you're you're there's a
26:30spectatorship to that there's like a there's a certain amount of separation that allows for safety
26:36you know like especially women um historically being put into a box in a certain way especially
26:42when it comes to sex and pleasure it feels like a nice separation to see sexuality and romance be
26:48lived out without um right female dynamic being yeah i i heard i heard someone online say a woman say
26:55that like when you see like a hetero um couple you know you default to like relating with or forced
27:03to
27:03relate with the woman character um and then that comes with a lot of restriction and too and like
27:08imagination a lot of writers you know are writing very conventionally um which means a lot of
27:14outdated tropes um old archetypes and i think you know with getting to watch two men it's like they
27:20can kind of relate with this person in one moment they're empathetic to this person they're not forced
27:24into a box of here this is your person to relate with at the end of the day though we're
27:29both men
27:30i have no idea what it's like to be a woman um yeah and so y'all let us know
27:35yeah y'all tell us
27:37i think me because i would just be i'd be drinking i'd be somewhere i'd be like under a table
27:45yeah asleep naked but i will say you you're really freaking athletic and you're really strong
27:52and you know how to fight so if it came down to like a wrestling match between you and leather
27:57face
27:58freddy krueger i think you're taking the cake my boy i'm winning okay snack time
28:08me 100 percent yeah you have a little you have a tiny bit more reverence than i do um if
28:15something
28:15is overly serious i cannot help but laugh because i just become really like oh i become really aware of
28:21how do you do the kind of it's not that you left and now now i'm gonna leave
28:29bye connor will do the like the like it's like so serious he kind of gets a little take and
28:34then
28:34and i can't do his laugh do i do that do i do anything do i do a polly pocket

31:04fine i'm invested in heated rivalry not because of their giant bouncy bullets
31:09but because it's a true yearner i'm a sucker for a good romance the yearning is is the thing i
31:16think
31:16that's that's probably the sexiest part for people honestly you want to know how we got these bodies
31:20you're in enough your ass gets fat despite all the memes i have enjoyed people seeing that physical
31:28intimacy isn't just spice on top of the romance but a vehicle to explore relationship dynamics
31:32and character and also physical and emotional intimacy are different but connected things jacob
31:38talks about this and that was one of the first things i think he brought to us um to try
31:45and explain
31:45his vision which was you know when you read the scripts when you read the pages it can sound very
31:50sex heavy but to know that the sex really is just the foundation of their relationship and how they
31:57connect um yeah i think that is i think that i think that's kind of you know for the first
32:02years
32:03of their life that's how they communicate that's where their relationship builds and you know that's
32:07not usually how sex is used in yeah yeah me dear i need hudson williams to know that so many
32:14people
32:15imagine draw right and read about him getting pregnant including me is that crazy oh he knows and even
32:23comments on yeah mara key to rivalry updates pointed this out to me i know when i learned that about
