00:00There will always be imperfections in any movie, sometimes plot holes, loose ends or
00:05general issues with the story that don't quite make sense, and this is where the audience's
00:10disbelief needs to be appropriately suspended. This can be difficult however when a character
00:15just disappears without a trace, it happens more often than you think, but what about
00:20over the last 5 years? So let's dive in, as I'm Adam from WhatCulture and here are
00:258 recent movie characters that just disappeared.
00:288. The Underminer, Incredibles 2 There have been a handful of franchises within
00:33the realms of Pixar that have seen something of a revival after many many years. Toy Story
00:393 came out 11 years after Toy Story 2, there were 12 and 13 years between Monsters Inc and
00:45Monsters U, and Finding Nemo and Finding Dory respectively, and joining this list is The
00:50Incredibles. 14 years after the original movie cut short the titular family's fight with
00:55The Underminer, Incredibles 2 picked up exactly where the narrative left off. Tony Ridinger
01:00was in the custody of Rick Dicker, and told of the fight that had ensued. In 2003 The
01:06Underminer only appeared at the end of The Incredibles after having nothing to do with the overall
01:10story. He was there as something of a tease for the family fighting together as a proper
01:15superhero team, and in a similar way he was only involved in the sequel at the very start,
01:21again having nothing to do with the overall main story. The villain got away from The Incredibles
01:26at the start of the sequel, making off with immeasurable amounts of money, but because of
01:30the collateral damage and the supers in general, no one seemed to care. He was forgotten about,
01:36and no one was particularly interested in tracking him down or bringing him to justice.
01:407. Efficient Man – Glass Onion As a sequel to Rian Johnson's incredibly
01:46popular Knives Out from 2019, with the exception of Benoit Blanc, Glass Onion boasted a completely
01:52different cast. Marta Cabrera and the Thrombreys were replaced with Miles Braun and his disruptor
01:58friends, though the deliciousness of the mystery remained throughout. Though Miles Braun himself was
02:03supposedly one of the world's smartest billionaires, he was in fact an idiot with enough money to pay
02:08intelligent people to earn his reputation for him. He then simply sat back and enjoyed his own
02:13private island and the Mona Lisa on hire without ever really breaking a sweat. One such thing his
02:19money paid for was seemingly a hassle-free covid vaccination. The characters were all able to
02:24remove their masks and go about their daily lives as normal after a quick spray from Ethan Hawke's
02:29character, known simply in the credits as Efficient Man. Because it was an actor as big as Ethan Hawke,
02:35it was surprising that Efficient Man had no further role to play in the movie. He literally showed up,
02:40vaccinated everyone with no context as to exactly who he was, and then was never heard of or seen
02:46again. 6. The Detachable Kid – The Suicide Squad
02:50The cast of The Suicide Squad was so ridiculous in size that it seemed impossible to fit everyone
02:55into one movie. It all made sense by the end of the first few scenes, however, when half of the
03:00titular team were gunned down on Corto Maltese. The likes of Captain Boomerang, Blackguard,
03:06Cervant and more bit the dust serving as a distraction to allow Bloodsport's true Task Force
03:12X onto the island. It seemed as though Weasel died during the chaotic opening, but the post-credits
03:17scene saw him simply get up and walk away. But what about The Detachable Kid, aka TDK? Nathan Fillion's
03:24character may have had a crap power and a crap way of using it, but he actually didn't die on
03:29that beach
03:30like most of the team did. While slapping and pouring at the Corto Maltese soldiers,
03:35TDK's arms were shot to hell, leaving him writhing in pain on the floor. However, the opening credits
03:41sequence that followed confirmed that TDK wasn't actually dead, but was instead in critical condition.
03:47So, what happened to him? Was he ever extracted off the beach or was he left there to die by
03:52the
03:52heartless and ruthless Amanda Waller? Weasel survived and will reprise his role in Creature Commandos,
03:58so did James Gunn keep TDK alive with the intention of bringing him back?
04:045. Kingo Eternals This entry is slightly different from the rest,
04:09in that the character at least announced that he was disappearing. While everyone else just went
04:13without so much as a goodbye, Kingo actually let everyone know what he was doing, and even returned
04:18to the screen before the end of Eternals. All that being said however, he undoubtedly still disappeared,
04:25and at a key point in the movie. Icarus had been revealed as the villain, and he and Sprite were
04:30about to go toe to toe with the rest of the Eternals. Whether Tiamut's emergence happened or not
04:35directly affected the future of the entire human race, and yet Kingo decided to take a step back.
04:41The rest of the Eternals were his brothers and sisters, and though it's admirable in a way to
04:46remain neutral in such a situation, did anyone actually believe that as a major character he would
04:51manage to stay out of it entirely. Kingo was nowhere to be seen for the entire final battle.
04:57Realistically, he may as well have gotten involved, as he still ended up at the mercy of Arisham next
05:02to Cersei and Phastos anyway. 4. Mike, Sing Too
05:07Sing is a genuinely enjoyable kids film even in spite of its singing competition premise,
05:13with a stunning cast to boot. Alongside the phenomenal voices of Reese Witherspoon, Taron Egerton,
05:18Scarlett Johansson and more, was Seth MacFarlane. The Family Guy creator's character, Mike, was a
05:24tiny mouse with one hell of a voice, but an attitude that got him in trouble on more than one
05:29occasion.
05:30When the little guy didn't appear or even get a mention in 2021's Sing Too, there was a theory
05:35equal parts dark and compelling. Mike likely would never have returned to be in Buster's new show anyway,
05:42as he was solely there for the money, but could it be that he was completely absent from the second
05:46movie
05:47because he had been killed by the bears who were chasing him. The big grizzly hanging off the back
05:52of Mike's car is the last we see of him after all. Harder to explain is the absence of both
05:56Pete and
05:57Eddie, who were present at the reopening of the New Moon Theatre at the end of Sing,
06:01and the three bunnies at the start of Sing Too that were clearly part of the production,
06:05but had absolutely nothing to do with the excursion to Red Shore City or the new show at the Majestic.
06:113. The Fourth Skrull, Captain Marvel
06:14In 2019, Captain Marvel introduced to the MCU not only Carol Danvers herself, Maria and Monica Rambeau,
06:22and the mind-boggling Flerken, it also brought to life for the first time the Skrulls. Even better,
06:28the movie actually did a fantastic job of portraying the race as the villains of the piece,
06:32before pulling the rug from under audiences with a genuinely shocking revelation. Back when everyone
06:38thought they were evil invading aliens, there were four Skrulls that landed on Earth. They each
06:43shifted into the shape of someone on that beach, but not all four are to be accounted for by the
06:48time the credits rolled. There was of course Talos, his science guy Norex who was killed by Yon-Rogg,
06:54and the Skrull posing as Agent Coulson who died in Nick Fury's car. Now, for anyone keeping count,
07:00you won't be shocked to learn that we are still one slippery Skrull short. It could be that Norex was
07:05the
07:06alien that morphed into the old woman that Carol fought on the bus, in which case, what happened to
07:11the fourth Skrull? If Norex wasn't the alien that morphed into the old woman that Carol fought on
07:15the bus, what happened to the old woman Skrull? Either way you look at it, there is a Skrull still
07:21MIA.
07:22Number 2. Nagini, Fantastic Beasts, The Secrets of Dumbledore. Outside of the likes of the Dumbledores,
07:29Newt Scamander's name on the Morda's map, and the cannon-breaking McGonagall name drop that made
07:34no sense. There aren't too many characters that appear in both the Fantastic Beasts and
07:38Harry Potter franchises. One such character is Nagini, and because of this, audiences already
07:44know what her ultimate fate would be. Several decades down the line, the Maledictus would
07:49have permanently transformed into a snake, be one of Voldemort's most trusted allies and a Horcrux no
07:55less, and would be sliced in half by Neville Longbottom. Even with this knowledge, there were some twists
08:00and turns during Fantastic Beasts, The Crimes of Grindelwald. Firstly, the fact that Nagini
08:05appeared as a human woman was mind blowing, but by the end of the movie she actually aligned herself
08:10with Newt and the other heroes. With a compelling story between here and where she would ultimately
08:16end up, she was completely left out of Fantastic Beasts, The Secrets of Dumbledore. No explanation for
08:22her absence, she just simply disappeared from the narrative altogether. She may return further down the
08:27line if the movie franchise ever survives that long, but even if she does, there will have to be a
08:33big explanation as to where she was in the 3quel. 1. Rocky Balboa, Creed 3
08:39Creed 3 was something completely different in the franchise in a number of ways. It was the directing
08:45debut of Michael B. Jordan, who brought with him an anime-inspired fighting style, but it was also the
08:50first in the franchise not to feature Rocky Balboa. Throughout all of the Rocky movies and the first two
08:56entries in the Creed franchise, Rocky was a mainstay, and yet for Creed 3, he didn't appear.
09:02It was a decision made by Stallone himself due to creative differences, but what about in terms of
09:07the narrative? There are a couple of potential reasons for the Italian Stallions absence.
09:12Firstly, by the time of the 3quels events, Adonis is retired and living out in LA, as far away from
09:18Philly as you could possibly get in the USA. There really wouldn't be any need for Rocky to be out
09:23there.
09:24There is also a darker possibility pertaining to Rocky's poor health in the first Creed movie.
09:29Whatever the reason however, it seems a strange decision to give audiences absolutely no closure
09:35on the subject whatsoever. Donnie couldn't have just given him a call, or just mentioned in passing
09:40to Bianca how he was doing. And there we have it folks, our list of movie characters that just
09:44disappeared. But please do let us know down in the comments section which movie or tv characters you
09:49have no idea what happened to them. And while you're there, make sure you give us a like,
