00:00Why has President Trump delayed strikes on Iran's power plants?
00:04And what does it mean for the Strait of Hormuz?
00:07Because yesterday we heard there was 48 hours to open the Strait of Hormuz
00:12and Donald Trump has changed his mind quite dramatically in a short time frame.
00:17Well, yeah, there's a background to that.
00:20Because the moment Trump made this statement about this 48 hours
00:27and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and threatening Iran strikes on its power
00:34as well as the desalination plants, there was a riposte from Iran also
00:41because Iran also made it very, very clear to the Americans
00:46that the moment you do that, we would be at liberty to strike all the power centers,
00:55energy centers, and the desalination plants, which are there in the Gulf countries
01:01where the U.S. bases are there.
01:02So I think that has had a salutary effect on Trump
01:06because it has, you know, something like a mutual destruction syndrome.
01:12Because if I destroy yours and you destroy mine,
01:18so that leads us to no solution or no kind of a way forward.
01:26So I think Trump has mellowed down on that now
01:29and he has retracted his statement accordingly.
