00:25Naging parte si Justin ng Philippine Men's Rugby Team of the Volcanoes
00:41I essentially tried my hand at all different sports.
00:45I really enjoyed being active and was encouraged by my parents as well.
00:49So I didn't actually start playing rugby league until I was 14.
00:54And the main reason was I was becoming too aggressive in basketball.
00:59I was always getting fouled out.
01:01I was always being charged with charging fouls, flagrant fouls.
01:05So the coach said, you know, maybe you should try a contact sport.
01:08And that's how I fell into rugby league.
01:38When my initial photo came up and it said rugby player, the initial response was just laughter
01:45because in the Philippines obviously you think rugby and you think rugby boys.
01:50But there's a lot of rugby boys using Physical Asia as the platform to show the strength,
01:56determination and just, you know, that grit of rugby players.
02:00I think really shone through and the Filipino public sort of turned their view as to what rugby is.
02:06And now you mentioned the word rugby and I'd like to say that instead of thinking about the sniffing kind,
02:11it's more so about the athletes that play the game, the sport, the contact, the camaraderie.
02:17I think the word isn't as heavy on the stigma anymore.
02:29It's always an honor and a blessing to wear the jersey.
02:32You know, when you put the jersey on and the sun and the stars,
02:35you're representing 115 million people in the Philippines and more of the OFWs abroad.
02:40So it always, you know, the jersey is heavy at times because you know who you're fighting for.
02:45In July we have the Union's Cup and there'll be three matches.
02:48We don't know who yet.
02:50So, you know, if I'm blessed and I work hard, then hopefully I'll have another opportunity to wear the jersey.
