00:00So
02:00We're meeting Indians in India, man.
02:02It's like trying to come over here with a cricket ball cap.
02:07I'd like to thank Classic Golf and Country Club.
02:12Obviously, when I heard the tournament was going to go forth, I looked up the golf course.
02:53Nikhil, the way India has won and dominated the 2020 format of Indian cricket, I mean the world cricket,
03:00do you think that this is probably India's best ever 2020 cricket side
03:04and it's time that India start dominating world cricket as a whole.
03:09Because just one form of cricket, we have been the challengers in ODIs, not the champions always.
03:15What do you have to say?
03:17Yeah, well to be honest, it's tough to say this is the best team ever
03:21because you've had some really world beating stars in the past, in the present and in the future as well.
03:28I think you will get better players as well and that's what the BCCI or some of our ex-captains
03:34of India would want.
03:35That every five years, every ten years, you have new upcoming stars who will keep winning us the World Cup
03:44regularly.
03:44And you don't become World Cup winners overnight.
03:48It's a process and kudos to the BCCI, how they set up the entire domestic structure, the National Cricket Academy.
03:55And you know, becoming a World Cup winning side, a World Cup winning country.
04:00Big difference is also domestic cricket.
04:03Now today, just prior to your Syed Mushtaq Ali state trophy, literally every state in the country has got their
04:11own league.
04:12So, they're playing their own little league format. They're getting ready.
04:17They've got the number of matches you need to go out there and showcase your skill set.
04:21That fear is gone. To go out there and play the IPL, you do well in front of 30-40
04:26,000 people.
04:27And then you go out there and win games for India.
04:29But the 2020 thing is done. The achievement is there.
04:33Now, should we focus more on 50-overs cricket? Because next year is the ODI World Cup.
04:38And should we start preparing about, I mean, the players?
04:42We have the core players for 2020 cricket. Probably we can field a second team as well.
04:46But when it comes to ODI cricket, there are certain, you know, loopholes in the middle order or many other
04:53things.
04:53Do you think that needs to be sorted out from now?
04:56Yeah, without a doubt. You know, if you are looking to play your World Cup 11, I'm sure Gautam Nabeer
05:02and the BCCI as well as Ajita Gargar.
05:05They've got literally their core strength in mind.
05:09And then, like you said, if you are looking to fill up a couple of spots in the middle order
05:14or the opening slot.
05:16What are the combinations, permutation, combinations that you're looking to play?
05:18I think all that experimentation will start happening from now or the next series.
05:23And that experimentation or permutation will not be more than maybe maximum, I'm saying, two or three players.
05:30Until nonetheless, God forbid, there's an injury that gets forced.
05:33But I don't see too many changes or permutation combinations.
05:37I think the blueprint is set. The core strength for Team India in the 50-over World Cup is also
05:43pretty much set.
05:43Pretty much set. What are the changes if you think that with the present, the last time we were the
05:49runners-up and the ODI format has been sometimes very good and sometimes so ordinary.
05:54So, do you think that there are certain fundamental changes that needs to be brought up?
05:57For example, the middle order is probably not performing that well compared to, you know, the top order.
06:03Yeah, well, you know, in comparison to the 20-over format, the 50-over, you're looking at some of the
06:10batsmen who take their time, who understand, you know, building in their innings.
06:16Because from 120-ball format, then you're going in 200-300-ball format as well.
06:21So, you have a lot of time. And I'm sure Ajit has got some of the guys in mind if
06:25he's looking to fill up spots at No. 4, No. 5.
06:28And then, of course, you've got match-winners, the all-rounders in place as well.
06:31You talked about 4 and 5. I was just coming back. Shreya Shah here, a top-class player. I mean,
06:37one of the best that India has seen in the last decade.
06:40Do you think that a lot of attention should be given for his performance and he should, you know, up
06:46the ante?
06:46Because he's one player who can be India's match-winner for this format of the game.
06:51Yeah, without a doubt. You look at Shreya, every single time he gets a start, he's able to go out
06:56there, convert that start, win games single-handedly as well.
06:59So, you need players like him. And come the spin department, I won't be surprised, you get Kuldeep to play
07:04in the 11 as well.
07:05Because in the middle phase, you need more wicket-takers. It's not just about containment.
07:09In a 50-over format, you have to have the skill set to be able to beat the defences of
07:15certain batsmen as well.
07:16And I think Kuldeep would be a fit there as well in the 50-over World Cup.
07:20What about Rishabh Pant? Because he's one, everybody said that he's one who takes a little bit of time.
07:26But once that, he's an outright match-winner. Yeah, I'll tell you what. He's done so well.
07:31Put it this way, I don't want to be wearing the chairman of selection committee's hat.
07:34I don't want to be having that sort of headache that Ajit Agarkar has because you look at Sanju Samson,
07:40the way he's played in the last three innings in the T20, won us the World Cup. You look at
07:45Ishan Kishan.
07:47Yeah, well…
07:47So, you think that in your own days, also, Samson has an edge over Rishabh now?
07:51No, it's not a matter of edge. I guess you're spoils for choice. Put it this way.
07:57You've got a match-winner who's been prolific, winning you games as well. So, yeah. It's a good place to
08:03be. Trust you me.
08:16Talking about IPL, I mean, which are the teams are you looking forward to? I mean, which are the interesting
08:20teams this time around that you will be, you know, putting your money on?
08:24Every single team. Trust you me. You know, when you talk about predictability, which side is good, which side is
08:29not good, that goes out of the window.
08:30This is the IPL. Very quickly, it changes. Come the last two weeks, when you're looking to get those four
08:38teams in contention for the playoffs and from the four, anybody could be winning.
08:42So, the IPL is a different beast altogether. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
09:32Thank you. Thank you.
09:36President P.G.J.I.K.
09:38And P.G.J.I.K.
09:39What does the tournament mean?

12:04so that is a warm up match
12:05there is a lot of opportunity for Hotel Planet Tour
