00:00500 years before Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue. America was already discovered,
00:05but they weren't explorers, they were monsters. A ghost ship crashes onto the shores of North
00:10America. Inside the wooden wreckage there is no crew, just a 10-year-old boy. He is blonde,
00:15he is starving, and he is the spawn of the dragon men, the Vikings. Right away the movie tells you
00:19what kind of story this is. This isn't a history lesson, this is a horror movie.
00:24The Vikings aren't portrayed as noble warriors. They are faceless, hulking, metallic demons.
00:29They are an invasive species arriving only to consume and destroy. The boy is found by the
00:34local Wampanoag tribe, they don't kill him, they take him in. They name him Ghost, because the boy
00:39he was, the Viking he was born to be, is dead. Fast forward 15 years, Ghost is a man, but
00:44he is a man
00:45torn in half. He wears the leather and war paint of his adopted people. But he has the broad shoulders
00:51and pale skin of the conquerors. He wants to belong, he desperately wants to be a brave,
00:55but the tribe's elder the Pathfinder tells him he is not ready, because Ghost still has anger in his
01:00heart. He doesn't know who he is until the ocean decides to remind him. One day Ghost is hunting
01:05in the woods. He finds a trail of massive unnatural footprints in the mud. He smells burning wood. He
01:10runs back to his village. It is too late. The dragon men have returned. It is an absolute massacre.
01:16The Vikings are massive, seven feet tall, completely encased in black iron, wearing horned helmets that hide
01:22their faces. They look like death walking on two legs. They butcher the village. They kill Ghost's
01:27adopted father. They kill his adopted mother. Ghost watches from the treeline. He is paralyzed.
01:32The trauma of his childhood is staring him right in the face. But then one of the Vikings spots a
01:36survivor. He raises his sword. Ghost doesn't run. He charges. He tackles a Viking. He rips a sword from
01:43a dead man's hand. He drives the steel through the giant's armor. Ghost doesn't save the village,
01:48but he takes a life. And the dragon men realize something terrifying. There is a wolf in the
01:52woods and he knows how to use their own fangs against them. The Vikings burn the village to ash
01:57and move out to find the neighboring tribes. Ghost follows them. He is no longer just a survivor.
02:02He is a predator. This act is a master class in asymmetrical warfare. It's the ultimate thematic
02:07clash of the movie, nature versus industry. The Vikings represent the cold, heavy, destructive force
02:13of iron. They march in straight lines. They destroy everything they touch. Ghost represents the earth.
02:18He is lightly armored. He uses the mud. He uses the trees. He has water flowing around a rock.
02:23Ghost arms himself with Viking steel. He covers himself in mud and ash to blend into the shadows.
02:28The hunt begins. It is slow. It is agonizing for the Vikings. Ghost sets traps. He impales a scout
02:35on sharpened wooden stakes. He drops from the canopy slicing throats and vanishing back into the fog
02:40before the bodies even hit the ground. The Viking leader Gunnar is furious. His men are legendary
02:46berserkers. They have conquered half the world. And they are being picked apart by one naked man in
02:50the trees. But Gunnar is cunning. He realizes he can't catch a ghost. So he sets a trap of his
02:55own.
02:56Gunnar captures the neighboring tribe. He captures the old pathfinder. And he captures Starfear,
03:01the woman Ghost loves. Ghost tries to rescue them in the dead of night. He fights like a demon but
03:06the
03:06numbers are too great. He is beaten bloody and dragged before Gunnar. Gunnar looks at Ghost. He sees
03:11the blonde hair. He sees the blue eyes. He laughs. He realizes this wild animal is one of his own.
03:17Gunnar makes an ultimatum. Lead us to the other tribes or we kill the woman. Ghost looks at Starfear.
03:22He looks at the old pathfinder. The pathfinder nods. He tells Ghost to fulfill his destiny. Then the old
03:28man is executed. Ghost agrees. He will be their pathfinder. He will lead them. He leads them into the
03:33mountains. This is the turning point. Ghost doesn't lead them to a village. He leads them up into the
03:37frozen, treacherous peaks of the mountains. The Vikings are arrogant. They think their iron makes
03:41them invincible. Ghost realizes the Vikings' greatest strength is also their fatal flaw.
03:46Their armor. Their weight. Their absolute refusal to adapt to the land. They believe they can conquer
03:52nature. Ghost knows that nature always wins. They are marching single file across a narrow, icy ridge.
03:58A massive drop on one side. A sheer wall of snow on the other. Ghost waits for the perfect moment.
04:03He is tied to the front of the line attached to Gunnar by a heavy rope. Ghost looks up at
04:08the
04:08mountain. He screams. A guttural echoing war cry. The Vikings yell at him to shut up. But it's too late.
04:14The vibration hits the snowpack above them. Massive apocalyptic avalanche breaks loose.
04:20Thousands of tons of snow and ice roar down the mountain. The Vikings try to run but their heavy
04:24armor anchors them to the ice. They are swept off the cliff like insects. Ghost divies for a rock,
04:29clinging to it for dear life. The rope snaps taut. Gunnar is dangling over the abyss holding onto the
04:34rope attached to Ghost. The snow settles. Half the Viking army is dead at the bottom of the gorge.
04:40But Gunnar pulls himself up over the ledge. It comes down to this. The father of iron versus the son
04:45of the forest. It is not a clean, choreographed fight. It is a brutal, exhausting death match on a
04:50slippery, two-foot-wide ledge of ice. Gunnar swings a massive battle axe. He breaks Ghost's sword.
04:55He drives Ghost back inch by inch toward the edge. Gunnar screams at him. You are one of us. You
05:01are a
05:01dragon. Ghost looks at him, blood pouring from his face. He drops his broken sword. He doesn't fight
05:06like a Viking anymore. Ghost slips under the axe swing. He grabs Gunnar's heavy iron necklace. And he
05:13uses Gunnar's own massive weight against him. With one violent twist, Ghost throws himself backward,
05:18planting his feet on Gunnar's chest and launching the giant over the cliff. Gunnar falls into the fog,
05:23screaming, swallowed by the very land he tried to conquer. The storm clears. The dragon men are dead.
05:29Ghost returns to Starfire and the surviving members of the tribe. They look at him differently now.
05:34He is no longer an outsider. He is no longer the Viking boy. The film ends exactly where it began,
05:40on the rocky shore looking out over the endless gray ocean. Ghost stands on the cliff edge. He is wearing
05:45the mantle of the old elder. He is the new pathfinder. He stares out at the water, knowing that five
05:50hundred years from now more ships will come, more iron, more blood. But for now the shore is safe.
05:56The monster within has become the guardian of the gate.
