00:06A stranger, from the outside.
00:10Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:12Today, we'll be counting down our picks for the Yes Please and No Thanks of Silver Screen Aliens.
00:18Robots, such as Wall-E, for example, will be saved for another day.
00:22Also, a spoiler alert is now in effect.
00:24Oh, baby, give you an old chance.
00:30Come to me, let me back in your heart.
00:35Number 15. Terrifying. Xenomorphs. Alien Franchise.
00:50The most terrifying alien on our list shouldn't serve as a surprise to anyone familiar with the franchise called, well,
00:57Alien.
00:57The Xenomorphs are apex predators of the stars, existing as hunter-killer aliens that behave with cruel and malicious intent.
01:21Cuddling up to one of these things is basically a no-no, with not even an alien queen being royal
01:26enough to convince us to the contrary.
01:29Xenomorphs are too permanently wet to hug anyway.
01:32Not to mention how these things are, you know, generally out to wipe everything off the face of the planet.
01:36Get away from her, you b****.
01:51Number 14. Terrifying. The Thing. The Thing.
02:04Director John Carpenter's brilliant 1982 reimagining of The Thing from another world introduced us to a whole new world of
02:11terror.
02:12The Thing delivered an icy, frozen death to the denizens of U.S. Outpost 31, assimilating and consuming these isolated
02:19scientists one by one.
02:24.
02:40Until only two are left. Or is that one?
02:43So yeah, this interstellar menace definitely wants to get close to us, but not in the way we probably imagine
02:48or prefer.
02:49Instead, it's probably best to remain paranoid, lock your doors, and don't trust anybody that's been remotely near this eternally
02:56hungry space killer.
02:58Why don't we just wait here for a little while?
03:06See what happens.
03:14Number 13. Terrifying. Yautja. Predator Franchise.
03:24We're going to admit optimism here in the hopes that we'd be accepted by the Yautja if we happen to
03:29grow up alongside their societal clan structure.
03:32It's outsiders that really have to remain wary of these predators, because the Yautja treasure the hunt most of all.
03:51These wild-looking alien killing machines possess uniquely distinct features that branch out from an immediately recognizable main character build.
03:59They're tall and vaguely humanoid, with faces only a mother could love.
04:04Yautja have also become known for their dreadlocked hair and a habitual predilection for carrying an arsenal of weapons.
04:10In other words, they're probably not the easiest aliens in the universe to befriend.
04:14Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Come on! Do it now! Kill me!
04:25Number 12. Terrifying. Killer Clowns. Killer Clowns from Outer Space.
04:55Monique Clowns from Outer Space.
05:01of fear, these cinematic triggers of coulrophobia, or fear of clowns, were created by the Kyoto
05:07Brothers, who also directed their 1988 movie out in Killer Clowns from Outer Space.
05:22These special effects wizards crafted so many weird and honestly wonderful clown designs for
05:28their film, ranging from the short and kind of cute to the giant kaiju-sized clown that appears
05:33during its climax. We guess it all depends how frightening you find clowns on a personal level,
05:38but we could honestly go either way on this one.
05:44I don't want to play here anymore. Can we go home now?
05:49Just get out of here. Come on. Everyone out of the truck! Come on!
05:52We can! It's rented!
05:54Number 11. Terrifying. Martian Tripods.
05:57War of the Worlds franchise.
06:07The imposing nature of these interstellar fighting machines will probably never live
06:11up to the mythologized hype behind Orson Welles' 1938 radio play rendition of H.G. Wells' classic
06:17story. Still, the Martian tripods that eventually land upon the Earth's surface are nothing if not
06:23impressive and imposing. These three-legged contraptions house invading alien marauders within,
06:28and utilize both weaponry and their aggressive design to assist in their takeover.
06:54The Martian tripods just look fearsome as they blot out the night sky, creating more than enough tension
07:00and fear for us to stay as far away from them as possible.
07:04Rachel!
07:04Rachel!
07:22Number 10. Terrifying.
07:35The gray-skinned aliens that appear in this Denis Villeneuve film admittedly aren't the scariest or
07:40the most unsettling example of this classic creature design. They're also not depicted in
07:44in a typically aggressive manner, at least not when compared to most films from the alien invasion genre.
07:50Still, their appearance on Earth is super dramatic.
08:14While the scientific community struggle to communicate with them results in some fairly tense moments.
08:19Considering everything, Arrival's generally optimistic point of view and non-exploitative execution
08:25means that these modern aliens are a bit less terrifying than the average modern gray.
08:30Thus, we can see ourselves eventually warming to what could be called a friendship.
08:50Number 9. Terrifying. Andromedan royalty. Begonia.
08:55How can you tell she's an alien?
08:56Well, the signs are obvious.
09:01They did a hell of a job on it, but the tells are there.
09:04Narrow feet. Then cuticles. Slight overbite.
09:14Semi-botruding ear loads.
09:17The bait-and-switch ending that occurs near the climax of Yorgos Lanthimos' remake of 2003's
09:22Save the Green Planet from South Korea feels like something right out of the Twilight Zone.
09:27This is by no means an insult, but rather testament to Emma Stone's committed portrayal of pharma exec
09:32Michelle Fuller as a secret Andromedan queen.
09:35But humans can't help the way they are.
09:38It's in your genes.
09:41The genes implanted by your ancestors to strengthen themselves. It gets reproduced in your bodies,
09:47and it grows stronger. We Andromedans are here to eliminate that suicidal gene. To save humanity.
09:55Her decision to wipe humanity from the face of the Earth is achieved with a whisper, not a scream.
10:00Fuller merely pops a bubble, and voila! Instant death for men, women, and children across the planet.
10:06Granted, animals and plants seem to survive in Lanthimos' remake. But if you ask us,
10:11the utter nihilism of this ending is enough to chill our blood.
10:34Number 8. Adorable. Little CJ aka Oliver. District 9.
10:39So we gotta ask a general question as we enter the adorable section of our ranking. Namely,
10:44who doesn't love a cute little alien? The creature design of Little CJ aka Oliver isn't admittedly
10:51the sort of mischievous fuzzball one typically sees in science fiction movies. Yet this alien's
10:56diminutive stature, childlike innocence, and impressive intelligence is more than enough
11:01to warrant Little CJ a place on our list. District 9's decision to meld sci-fi adventure with narrative
11:15themes of racism, classism, and xenophobia not only works to elevate its status with fans as a whole,
11:20but it makes characters like Little CJ feel even more important to the story.
11:41Number 7. Adorable. Rocky. Project Hail Mary.
11:45I'm Grace. I'm gonna call you Rocky. Thumbs up.
11:49Nope, that's thumbs down. You can do the thumbs up.
11:55It's close enough.
11:56It's refreshing every now and then to be on the receiving end of an optimistic depiction of
12:01human-alien relations. The 2026 adaptation of Andy Weir's 2021 novel presents its character of
12:07Rocky as a collaborator with mankind. Rocky's partnership with Ryan Gosling's Ryland Grace
12:13is a pivotal one for the movie, since both characters must rely upon each other to survive. Their cooperation
12:19is also pivotal for the survival of not only Earth, but for multiple solar systems, since Rocky and
12:25Grace are fighting against time to stop an alien parasite. No or never.
12:33Number 6. Adorable. Elio Aliens. Especially Glorden. Elio.
12:46This Disney Pixar film may have underperformed at the box office, but that hasn't stopped some fans
12:52and critics from praising the character design of its aliens. Glorden was a particularly endearing
12:57character to watch, as this alien's friendship with young Elio Solis blossoms throughout the film.
13:13There are a lot of other interesting-looking specimens present within the interstellar
13:17universe of Elio, but we'd be hard-pressed to find many that could eclipse the adorable factor
13:21of Glorden in our eyes. He's like the best sort of space, lobster, worm, lizard we never knew we wanted.
13:38Number 5. Adorable. Frank. Men in Black Franchise.
13:42I said, listen, if you don't want me to kick your skinny zone diet ass, turn around and exit the
13:49plant.
13:49Frank, where are you? Main hall. Egg display.
13:53Okay, lost control. We're taking fire. Kay pushed the red button. Computer at MIB can lock
13:58on and destroy Bogey. I'll walk you through it.
14:00Okay, so this one might be the most obvious choice on our list, but how can you blame us?
14:04This Romulian named Frank takes on the disguise of an adorable-looking pug as he hides out on the
14:10Earth of 1997's Men in Black. A pug on the run might have been cute enough, but the sight of
14:15Frank
14:15wearing a little half-suit reminiscent of Agents J and Kay is enough to make our little hearts melt.
14:20Hey Jay, I'll tell you something about dames. They say they want to be scratched behind the ears,
14:24but what they really want is-
14:26Hey, Frank.
14:28What? Still sit and shiver?
14:30There are a lot of cute aliens out there, as well as even more cute dogs, but Frank the pug
14:35is the
14:36goodest boy, and we won't hear a single word to the contrary.
14:39If I'd known for just one second, you'd be back to bother me. Go on now, go. Walk out the
14:46door.
14:46Frank.
14:47Number 4. Adorable.
14:49Groot. Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
15:05We're willing to welcome Groot in our hearts any way we can get him.
15:09The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie debuted a fully grown Groot,
15:13who offers up a heroic sacrifice to save his friends. Yet it's also here where we're first
15:18introduced to Baby Groot, who starts the cycle anew.
15:21I am Groot.
15:22Uh-huh.
15:23I am Groot.
15:24No! That's exactly what you just said! How is that even possible?
15:27This fresh member of the crew is even cuter and more endearing than adult Groot.
15:32Although the teenage version of Groot we eventually see admittedly goes through some,
15:36we'll call them, growing pains. This ultimately does not matter though,
15:40since Groot, in all of his forms, has gone on to become one of the MCU's most beloved characters.
15:46We are Groot.
15:55Number 3. Adorable. Experiment 626, aka Stitch. Lilo and Stitch franchise.
16:04Hi.
16:06Hi.
16:06Oh, howl.
16:09Wow.
16:11A lot of thought has clearly gone into the creature design of Experiment 626,
16:16better known as Stitch from the Lilo and Stitch franchise. Concept art for this adorable little
16:20alien can actually be traced back to the early 80s, but it's the contemporary big-eared, big-eyed,
16:26and toothsome iteration of the character that's become best known by fans.
16:36Music
16:48Stitch actually tends to keep its alien accoutrements retracted often while on Earth,
16:53although we do see the extra arms and antennae appear once in a while.
16:57Stitch's chaotic and unpredictable nature may be a handful,
17:00but that's also why we love him so much.
17:03We gotta jump.
17:06Save. Together.
17:07Save. Together.
17:26Number 2, Adorable.
17:28E.T. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
17:42It was the major motion picture event of the summer back in June of 1982 because this was
17:48the year E.T. the Extraterrestrial first hit theaters. The film managed to make just about
17:53everyone fall in love with this short, strange-looking little alien, while also spawning
17:57tons of imitators, including Mac and Me from 1988. E.T. is a startling sight at first thanks
18:03to its big, expressive eyes, leathery skin, and little potbelly. It's the alien's friendly
18:09demeanor that made him so beloved, however, particularly with how Steven Spielberg's film
18:13treats E.T.'s relationship with Elliot.
18:30There are images and scenes here that have gone down in cinema history as watershed moments
18:35of warm-hearted nostalgia, and we honestly wouldn't want it any other way.

19:12Number 1. Adorable. Ewoks. Star Wars Episode VI, Return of the Jedi.
19:33What 80s kids didn't want their very own Ewok growing up?
19:36These Andorian teddy bears fought back the Galactic Empire with sticks and stones, proving their
19:42resilience in the face of danger. Their loyal nature belies their initial trepidation towards
19:47trusting outsiders, with the Ewok family structure showcasing the strength of their forged relationships.
20:13Much has been made about how George Lucas's Star Wars franchise leaned into the kid and toy-friendly marketing on
20:19films such as 1983's Return of the Jedi.
20:21Yet if you were there and at the right age for them, Ewoks were absolutely the cutest things in space.
20:27Look! Over there! Stop him!
