00:00Hey, has anyone seen Samwell Basayo?
00:03I know you watched the NCAA tournament last night.
00:05I don't blame you.
00:07Not everyone goes and goes out and about like I do.
00:10I get it.
00:11I get it.
00:11But last night, he was on one.
00:14I'm on one.
00:16He was on one last night.
00:17He went three for three last night with two home runs
00:20and a base hit that he ripped.
00:22Right now, he's batting .375 for the spring training.
00:29His slugging.
00:32Ben, without looking, what's his slugging?
00:34Without looking, give me what would be an impressive slugging for you.
00:39Say 515.
00:41781.
00:42Oh, wow.
00:43His on-base percentage.
00:45Figure out his OPS.
00:47His on-base percentage is 444.
00:51His slugging is 781.
00:55They had 1,200 slugging?
00:57I mean, OPS?
00:59He is on one right now.
01:01He is hitting the ball a long way.
01:04This guy may come into the season this year.
01:08One of the front runners for rookie of the year.
01:10I want to see it happen.
01:11I think Sanwell Busayo is an absolute dude.
01:14I do.
01:15I think his confidence level.
01:17He walks around.
01:19Going back to Braddish.
01:21I remember telling all my buddies about Braddish before he really, really burst on the scene.
01:26I said, look, this guy named Braddish walks around the clubhouse like he's like John Wayne.
01:31He had that John Wayne walk to him.
01:33Kids, ask your parents who John Wayne is.
01:35Well, some of you got really young parents.
01:37Well, ask your grandparents who John Wayne is.
01:40Samwell Busayo walks around like I'm him.
01:44I'm him.
01:49Like he's that dude.
01:51Not in a cocky, arrogant.
01:52No, yes, in a cocky way.
01:53Not in an arrogant way.
01:54He walks around the clubhouse like I'm that dude.
01:58And I think that tells me that even when he goes through those two for 20 stretches, that he's going
02:05to be all right.
02:07Because he believes he's him.
02:11And I think he can put up some major numbers this year and contend for that rookie of the year
02:15spot.
02:164-10-5-8-3-1-0-5-7.
02:18Mike from Baltimore wants to go back to talk about Grayson.
02:20What's up, Mike?
02:21Hey, how you doing, man?
02:22Hey, man, when I found out last night, I put a note on my phone that I was going to
02:28talk to you about it.
02:29You know, and man, you know, I'm so glad for that trade.
02:32At the time, I was glad for it.
02:34And I'm still glad for it, even if Taylor Ward walks after this year.
02:39Grayson is just, you can't count on it, man.
02:42I kind of knew it was going to happen.
02:44And I was jumping for joy with that trade.
02:45Like I said, even if it's just a one-year rental, man.
02:48I hope he bounces back and becomes the pitcher that I thought he could be.
02:52But I'm with you.
02:53I mean, you stay hurt.
02:54I mean, you know, you're a guy that has a reputation of being hurt all the time.
02:59And at the end of spring training, we get reports that you could start the season on the aisle.
03:03Now, the good thing is he was playing catch yesterday at spring training, so he's not completely shut down.
03:11But, you know, dead arm is dead arm, man.
03:14I think his fastball dropped down to 90, if I'm not mistaken.
03:17A guy that normally tips 95, 96, and sometimes can get above that a little bit.
03:22So, the drop down to 90 is not a good sign at all.
03:25No, no.
03:25I think he's just going to put in and have a problem with it.
03:29Hey, man, you have a good one.
03:30You too, man.
03:31All right.
03:31410-583-1057.
03:33Again, I don't want this to come across, guys, like I'm hoping.
03:38I'm not preying on his downfall.
03:42I'm just reporting facts.
03:44He just doesn't show me to be a guy that can stay durable.
03:48And, again, many of you say, well, what about Jordan Westbrook?
03:50Well, that's a different conversation.
03:52But you're not wrong.
03:54You're not wrong.
03:56I think the Orioles have a good contingency plan with Blaze Alexander.
04:00Not playing third, but Blaze Alexander being here and being able to move some things around.
04:05And hopefully he got Jackson Holiday back sooner rather than later.
04:08Mid to late April, hopefully.
04:09Honestly, so your contingency plan is you got other, but I don't got other pitchers like Boz.
04:18And you say, enough with Grayson.
04:20We're done with that project because that project just isn't working.
04:25But getting back to Basayo, I just, again, let me throw out some numbers for the Basayo.
04:3223-24 home runs.
04:34You think he's able to do that?
04:3523-24 home runs.
04:37Bat about 255-260.
04:41OPS around 7-750.
04:44If he can do that, he'll be a strong contender at the end of the year for Rookie of the
04:49Year.
04:49And I think he's very well capable of doing that.
04:51As long as he stays healthy.
04:52If he can stay on the field.
04:54And you talked about the confidence and just guys he's seen.
04:57And when you see him against more elite pitchers.
04:59Yep.
04:59He never looked overmatched.
05:00I mean, you remember the one at-bat against Aroldis Chapman who made the Aaron Judges of the world look
05:05crazy.
05:06Basayo's up there fighting and ends up, I remember, it ended up being a ground out or whatever.
05:09But just the fight and the at-bat, the approach, it's different than some of the guys that we've seen
05:13here.
05:13He just has that, you know, the people that you walk around sometimes, they're so confident.
05:19So confident they have that smile on their face like they're telling their own private joke all the time.
05:23That's Samwell Basayo.
05:25Like, okay, let me in on this joke that you're telling to yourself.
05:27Because you just got one of those smiles on your face.
05:29That's him.
05:31And I look forward to seeing the 2026 season, see what he can do.
05:35Ed Norris, what's going on, man?
05:38I'm just celebrating the first day of spring here.
05:41Yes, it is.
05:42The first day of spring.
05:43Ed, you weren't on the show yesterday.
05:45Some guy said, a caller said, when I talk about baseball, I sound like a kid in a candy shop.
05:51I sound happy talking football, proud when I'm talking high school basketball, but sound like a kid in a candy
05:56shop.
05:56Now, to explain to him, if football were in the spring, I'd sound the same way.
06:01It's more about you know more than anybody.
06:05It's the season more than anything for me.
06:07A hundred percent.
06:08And I think it's for a lot of people.
06:10Because I feel the same way.
06:11I mean, one of the reasons I love baseball and I love, you know, our opening day broadcast is because
06:18it signals, you know, this coming of spring.
06:20If the weather changes, leaves back on the trees, you know, everything's not dead.
06:25It's just sundress.
06:29Sundress season is around the corner.
06:31Sundresses and toes out.
06:33A hundred percent.
06:34Come on, man.
06:35See, I can have that conversation with you.
06:37Sundresses and toes out.
06:38Yep.
06:39It's what life is all about.
06:41You should be that way 12 months a year.
06:44Covering stuff up, man.
06:45Come on.
06:46It's here.
06:47It's here.
06:48It's here.
06:48It's good news.
06:50Samuel Basayo, two home runs, three hits last night for the Birds.
06:53How excited are you for this young man?
06:56Very excited.
06:57I told you I said yesterday.
06:58I think, you know, if he can have like a 25 home run season, depending on how many plate appearances
07:04he has, 25 home runs on base percentage around 330, 340.
07:10I think, you know, he'll be a rookie of your candidate.
07:13No doubt.
07:14No doubt.
07:15I think those are the numbers that he can have as well.
07:17One of the top five sports playoffs, Ed and I weigh in on that at 730.
07:22Don't you go anywhere.
07:23But on the other side, we kind of forecasted this.
07:26Ed and I told you about this a little over a month ago.
07:28This whole flag football tournament that they're doing.
07:32You know, there was some things said that we remember.
07:36We kept saying, is this WWE in the making?
07:38And now on the other night, Kevin Hart was involved in something like he wasn't the instigator, but he was
07:46still involved.
07:47Is this whole flag football event becoming a hyped-up circus?
07:51Baltimore's Big Bad Morning Show on the fan.
07:54The fans, Bruce Cunningham.
07:56My greatest moment in Baltimore sports history came in January of 2001.
