00:00In other news, the Commission on Elections, or Comunic en Banque, has closed the fact-finding investigation
00:05into Senator Rodante Marcoleta's Statement of Contributions and Expenditures, or SOCE.
00:11This after failing to find sufficient evidence, he violated election laws.
00:16The Commission upheld the recommendation of its Political Finance and Affairs Department, or PFAD,
00:22to discontinue the probe due to a lack of further evidence, despite an issue involving Section 109 of the Omnibus
00:31Election Code.
00:32Comunic Chairman George Garcia noted the need to amend the Omnibus Election Code, pointing out its debut into law in
00:39the year 1985.
00:41While Marcoleta's campaign expenses reached P112 million, the Comunic clarified that the SOCE investigation is not completely closed
00:51and may be reopened should new evidence surface.
00:54Separately, the Comunic en Banque approved PFAD's recommendation to file complaints
00:59against Michael Tan Defensor, Joseph Espiritu, and Aristotle Viray for their failure to submit reports of the nations.
