top counterterrorism chief Joe Kent abruptly resigned in protest over the ongoing Iran war. Kent claimed Iran posed no immediate threat and suggested the conflict was driven by external pressure, sparking major controversy within U.S. leadership. Donald Trump quickly hit back, calling Kent “weak on security” and saying it was a “good thing” he stepped down.

The resignation has exposed deep divisions in Washington as the war with Iran intensifies. With rising criticism, political backlash, and questions over the justification for military action, the situation is rapidly escalating—raising fears of a prolonged and controversial conflict.

00:00Well, I read his tape, and I always thought he was a nice guy, but I always thought he was
00:03weak on security, very weak on security.
00:08I didn't know him well, but I thought he seemed like a pretty nice guy.
00:12Somebody is working with us that says they didn't think Iran was a threat.
00:17We don't want those people because, and there are some people, I guess I would say that, but they're not
00:22smart people or they're not savvy people.
00:24Your director of national counterterrorism, Joe Kent, he just resigned today.
00:29He said he can't support your conflict with Iran.
00:32What's your reaction to that?
00:34Well, I read his tape, and I always thought he was a nice guy, but I always thought he was
00:38weak on security, very weak on security.
00:42I didn't know him well, but I thought he seemed like a pretty nice guy.
00:47But when I read his statement, I realized that it's a good thing that he's out because he said that
00:53Iran was not a threat.
00:55Iran was a threat.
00:57Every country realized what a threat Iran was.
01:00The question is whether or not they wanted to do something about it.
01:03And many people, many of the greatest military scholars are saying for years that presidents should have taken out Iran
01:10because they wanted a nuclear weapon.
01:11They were, if we didn't do the attack or if I'll go a step further, if I didn't terminate the
01:17Iran nuclear deal given to us, one of the worst deals ever made by Barack Hussein Obama.
01:23Remember when they sent Boeing 757s over there loaded with cash?
01:28Hundreds of millions of dollars.
01:30You would have been very happy.
01:32This was a wonderful.
01:33They said hundreds of millions.
01:35People forget that.
01:36Does anybody remember, right?
01:38You remember hundreds of millions of dollars in a Boeing 757.
01:44I think that two of them loaded.
01:45They took the seats out and they put cash.
01:48And it was so much that there wasn't a bank in Virginia, Maryland or D.C. that had any money
01:54left.
01:55They stripped them of all their money, put it into place, sent it to Iran almost as ransom.
02:02That's not going to happen with Trump.
02:03And nobody ever did anything about it.
02:06Nobody ever said anything about it.
02:08Can you imagine if I did that?
02:09So they've been a threat for a long time.
02:12But they've really been a threat.
02:14If I didn't terminate Obama's horrible deal that he made, the Iran nuclear deal, you would have had a nuclear
02:21war four years ago.
02:24You would have had nuclear holocaust.
02:28And you would have had it again if we didn't bomb the site.
02:31So when somebody is working with us that says they didn't think Iran was a threat, we don't want those
02:39people.
02:40And there are some people, I guess I would say that.
02:42But they're not smart people or they're not savvy people.
