02:11the pressure gets real the chefs are making the most of their last morning and time with the

02:50here with the intention to win but to actually be a finalist is a bit crazy stuff the family are

02:54for me and that I know the people so proud yeah man I was raised by a mom and grandparents

03:04at home and myself for that matter more than anyone else I always felt like I always had to work

03:20I am someone that is where they're being looked up to I think the competitive drive comes from not
03:26having enough of everything that you've wanted or needed growing up you know I am really determined
03:30to showcase not only who I am but more importantly to show that no matter where you come from anything
03:36is possible you know I always saw chef in his way out could get out of all the nonsense from

03:41I said I genuinely feel like I can win this thing that I've got this far for a reason yeah

04:11hair cat because George will be cooking on Jayon's team today talent's been recognized even though

04:36that I am a good chef a lot of the time just because I get into my own head we're

04:55anything like this with a person like Kat she's so unbelievable we've got a lot of plans gonna see
05:00each other a lot really can't wait well today's the day it's your day or Jayon's day I'm glad I'm
05:06competing against him because I think he's just a fabulous fabulous chef and I think so highly of
05:12him Jayon as a competitor was probably the strongest competitor I could have we're very similar in the
05:17way that we work we're very clean efficient fast it's a shame that he's gonna lose but I just you

05:23there's always next year I'm gonna go with you already are you going to give me a hug yes
05:35what are your thoughts on the final I think it's good yeah yeah yeah good team good team I think

05:46concentrate I think Alex and I it will probably be a bit weird not being around each other but we
05:51both are in London I live with my sister so I think he'll be meeting her but I think we'll

05:56off on parents just for a bit I don't want to scare him away too quickly should we go for

06:08Barcelona's charm has definitely rubbed off on this lot but they've got to stay focused there's still a
06:14star chef to be crowned it is now the finale yeah I'm so looking forward to it I'm so blessed

08:07Alex and Maya seemed very pumped for today I think that they're gonna work great in the kitchen together
08:12I was so excited yeah last day I feel like it's last push Maya is one of my closest girls

08:23so much is kind of cool I'm feeling very grateful that I've managed to create these bonds with people
08:28and gain so much confidence in the kitchen it's crazy to think that we're not gonna be back in that

08:46absolutely fantastic I've got to say it's been a journey watching them growing their passion
08:52commitment really trying so very very positive kids and low points service was shut down that's

10:54this service talk to us through your starters so my starter today will be to start them with cherry
11:04hoisin duck topped with carrots and muley slosher wow my starter is a pan seared king scallop with beetroot gel
11:14apple puree roast celeriac fondant toasted hazelnuts and a parsley oil oh wow my main takes it back to
11:25how I've grew up it's gonna be called the simmer down curry essentially it is a curry chicken with aromatic
11:31rice
11:31and mini fried dumplings my main is kind of inspired by what I love with cooking Asian fusion so I'm
11:42doing a satay chicken supreme sweet chili garlic noodles stir-fried veg and toasted peanuts pickled chilies
11:51pickled chilots both very interesting already now jean tell us about your dessert this one takes it back to
11:58my own childhood I'm not afraid to or ashamed of how I grew up and I feel like I had
12:04to take inspiration
12:04from that it's going to be a conflict tart with plantain jam paired with a cream liqueur infused custard
12:10called the Jays FSM tart FSM stands for free school meals wow I tell you what I can't wait thank

12:20super interesting incredible my menu is definitely something that presents me in the best light possible
12:26shows me in my childhood my culture and also all the experience I've gained along the way in the
12:32chefing career what I'm going to be doing is a banana split with caramelized brown sugar and cinnamon
12:38cream fresh whip pecan brittle brown butter biscuit crumb maple caramel shards and a banana caramel wow
12:47that's a lot too yeah there's a lot very interesting menu I want to be able to put my own
12:52twisters on
12:52foods and be able to kind of show my kind of flavor profile and my palate a little bit with
12:58the food I'm
12:58making you have two hours prep and two hours service I want to see how you will be leading your
13:08team the
13:09execution of your dishes and of course how is going to go down with the diners are you ready yes

13:18ready yeah you can start now I think Jayon's menu is full of flavor he's so spicy he's so extravagant

13:32menu is a true reflection of himself and I really respect him for that thank you cat's menu sounds
13:39really technical but I feel like Alex and I have got this can't be that hard right my star chef

13:49about skill and strength of character you guys ready for this yeah ready yeah I'm excited for you guys
13:55to see this and of course team work I am looking for the full package I'm gonna start on getting

14:04working so the rice is gonna be putting straight away and then I'm gonna go on with the curry yep
14:08I mean you can work together on the starters and obviously in the whole mean time ma you'll be
14:14trusted in the back I've not really got experience with making the chicken curry looking forward to
14:19giving it a go and with jail's advice I'm sure I can execute it you got this we're gonna be

14:47it's the final day the final service and no second chances but Kat and Jayon who are battling it out

14:55be crowned Jean Christophe's star chef on Kat's team Alex and Maya are helping to create a Scottish
15:02Asian inspired menu it's gonna be like dots like that add a little bit of water but not too much
15:07while Marta and George are helping to produce Jayon's menu of home comforts

15:19stealing people's stuff do you have any opinions on who you think is gonna win I think it's a pretty
15:26even fight I agree actually yeah can it just be a tie I would just everyone wins I don't think
15:32Jean Christophe is giving tie no Jayon and Kat both desperately want this title of star chef and I
15:38don't blame them what they've put themselves through to get here is insane I mean between
15:43the kitchen nearly burning down and also at each other's throats over tapas I don't think we'd get
15:48here how are you feeling when I come with Maya and Alex good I know that they've got really good
15:56communication obviously because there are love Alex you know we're talking about little pans yeah do

16:08manifested that pun I know where'd it come from Kat's menu sounds really technical I'm not really
16:14big on like Asian fusion cooking I usually do very simple dishes with prep in full swing trouble is
16:21already brewing as team cats are struggling to get their heads around her complex menu should I try
16:37be very different to me Kat do I need to strain it or just straight in obviously I need you

16:44now this isn't blitzing should we water it down a little bit the sausage was the major concern for
16:48me because at least I know if the sauces are super flavorful and like boom boom boom don't need to
16:53worry
16:53about flavor because you've already enhanced that flavor amazing I'm actually very happy to be cooking
16:58Kat's menu but I haven't cooked with lots of the flavors that she's going with hey Kat do you want

17:03some direction here yeah it is pressure I really just want to do offer her can we bulk it a

17:09more I'll see if we can get more cooking a month and we had a bit more of everything I'm

17:14specific with how I want things done and like how it looks with textures and colors add some more
17:20peanut butter I'm gonna find you some more coconut milk I've got Phil faith in my team that we're
17:23gonna push this forward if we just keep a level head and over on team Jayon they're not having an
17:32easy ride either do you think this is too crumbly it might need some more water to hydrate it well
17:38I've just done that I trust my skills in pastry but that's a whole dish that's on my name and

17:44to make sure that it's perfect that part of rice is boiling no my bad chef forgot about that let's
17:51move a bit more assertive with that yeah I am quite nervous actually because many fine margins that
17:56separate this bro they're way too far we need them just a light golden brown put them in a bin

26:45about that chef I don't have it anymore now being binned so I am really sorry about that it was

26:51hard today to try keep my mouth closed to Kat because I really wanted to encourage her I really
26:55wanted to hug her give her a high five and compliment her dishes but I just couldn't Kat missed one
27:01little ingredient on her plate Kat wasn't able to get one of her garnishes out so on that note we're
27:07gaining flavor and we gave inefficiencies we need to make sure we don't miss any yes sorry I'm really
27:12sorry about that chef I feel like I was really organized I had everything done efficiently but
27:18I'm feeling really frustrated and just really deflated just keep going thank you chef with the
27:28pressure on Kat's not the only one forgetting the finishing touches I've just cut it all up now anyway

29:14Jayon's hurry was much easier to serve than my stir fry so the timings were a little bit of an

29:26colorful by the way thank you chef we had a little bit of an edge speed wise and efficiency wise

29:31Jayon push out the plates faster than the other team you know not all heroes wear capes some of

30:07it's really good in fact the dominance of the chili was his point actually wow I love the smell by

30:26character and you can see clearly she's a girl with character I think it's good I like it there is

30:40English person person of Caribbean heritage how's it going so far with the mains mixed feelings mixed
30:49feelings yeah what is not to power with the curry it's got the flavor it's just not as exciting as
30:56this one where every bite you've got like something something different it's a bit sweet it's a bit spicy
31:01are we enjoying everything overall yes for me this has been the most I think complete flavor profile so
31:07far that's nice obviously don't eat the scotch bonnet especially you to carry two chickens two pies

31:45that has elements of that but is also I'm actually gonna get emotional that's so lovely though we just
31:55hope that you guys enjoy it both of them I put their heart and soul into this menu it's not

31:58meaningful it is very meaningful

32:40this lovely toffee so how do you think these two compare they are one stronger all compatible

37:59i think i was quite impressed with the presentation i think also your your flavors were amazing
38:06i think the menu was very well combined and also i think i should point out that cat stood at

38:12like a pro chef but it was some issues and the salariac was the most dominant one for me
38:24we'll move on to jayon now how do you think his service went
38:29i think jayon is very confident there's no doubt jayon was more about to um to express
38:36it wasn't trying to impress so it was a lot more rustic more more personal cooking very interesting
38:44combination i really i was quite mesmerized with this food background but we had some issues okay the
38:52planté i think the planté was for me the dominant part of the dish and i was the one i
38:59was looking for
39:00the most by the way and um and i missed that effect but then again like cat you know magnificent
