00:00I want to talk about the night you won that Grammy because recently I saw the video and I thought
00:05to myself, wow, look at that style Rick Springfield has with that pink tie.
00:10And you had that red like plaid jacket on.
00:12I mean, you were totally 80s at that moment.
00:14How much do you remember that night?
00:16It's an entirety.
00:17Is it a blur or what a night for you to grab the Grammy and Jesse's girl is on fire.
00:23Can you take us back to that night?
00:24Yeah, I was really more concerned about doing the performance.
00:28Live TV can be pretty scary if you screw up.
00:30It goes out there.
00:31So I wasn't that concerned about whether I won or not.
00:34And it was fun seeing great people backstage.
00:37I remember seeing Little Richard and James Brown and people that I grew up with.
00:42I loved that.
00:43And actually Little Richard, one of my great memories is I was sitting in Studio A of Sound City, you
00:49know, the studio that Dave Grohl did the documentary.
00:51I was in with a bunch of people and I was sitting on the floor next to the piano and
00:56Little Richard was sitting on the piano.
00:57So playing this song, My Name is Richard, I'm saying, man, you should record this song.
01:01You should record this song.
01:03And it still seems surreal to me that Little Richard was playing the piano next to me trying to convince
01:07me to record a song.
