In dystopian middle America, Elliot struggles to determine his own future. He, his girlfriend Alex, and her friend Liv are all graduating from high school, yet they still don't have concrete plans for their futures. Alex wants to apply to university and bring both Liv and Elliot along with her, although they don't have the scores. Conversely, Elliot's brother John wants them to enlist together. Ultimately, Elliot and his friends work to find their individual places in this world, even if their paths may diverge.
