01:57As all of you are aware, these five states and UTs represent distinct geographical and cultural landscapes of India.
02:13These elections represent not only a democratic exercise but also the cultural richness of India and truly reflect the unity
02:25and diversity of our nation.
02:30Pure electoral roles are the bedrock of any democracy.
02:35With this objective, the special intensive revision is being conducted as per Article 326 of the Constitution to ensure that
02:49no eligible elector is left out
02:51while no eligible person is left out while no eligible person is included in the electoral rolls.
02:58I congratulate all the Booth-level officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, District Election Officers,
03:10and all election officials who were involved in this work for ensuring its smooth conduct and completion.
03:20It has been a massive democratic exercise.
03:25Around 17.4 crore electors are going to participate in these elections, an exercise of continental scale and proportionality.
03:37To give you a feel of numbers, 17.4 crore electors roughly also comprise the continent of Australia,
03:54France, South Africa, Germany, France, South Africa, Germany, and Canada.
03:59We will also see our guests from more than 20 countries from their electoral commissions who will be visiting these

04:11for witnessing the festive celebrations, the transparent and efficient celebrations of elections in India.

05:34Elections in India are the festival of democracy.
05:39Chunaav ka parv, hum sab ka garv.
05:43This festival of democracy belongs to every citizen, every elector of India.
05:50Before announcing the schedule of elections,
05:54I would like to present before you a brief PPT which will entail the details of these coming elections.
06:06The festival of elections, our pride, is going to be held
06:13in the state of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
06:20The total electors are 17.4 crores, and the assembly constituencies are 824.
06:29The number of polling stations is roughly 2.19 lakhs,
06:34and the electoral machinery would consist of roughly 25 lakh personnel.
06:42To give you an overview, the end of term of Assam Assembly is on 20th of May, Kerala, 23rd of
06:53May,
06:53Puducherry, 15th of June, Tamil Nadu, 10th of May, and West Bengal, 7th of May.
07:03To give you a little overview of the electors, Assam, as per the final list,
07:10would be roughly 2.2.5 crores, Kerala, 2.7 crores,
07:14Puducherry, 9.44 lakhs, Tamil Nadu, 5.67 crores,
07:18and West Bengal, the final list on 20th February comprises of 6.44 crores,
07:24and the learned judges, after their adjudication, whatever supplementary list comes, they shall be added.
07:34To give you a feel of the category of our electors,
07:38we have more than 100 years of age centenarians in Assam, Kerala, even Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
07:48The 85-plus years of age electors are also good in number,
07:55are Divyang Bhai and Bhai Bahen, the first-time electors,
08:00the electors from 20 to 29 years of age, and service electors.
08:04These are statistics which will be circulated to you.
08:09A total number of 2.18 lakh polling stations shall be set up.
08:17Majority of them will be in rural areas.
08:22Average per elector is between 750 to 850,
08:28less than 900 in any case.
08:31The model polling stations will be set up in all the states and UTs,
08:37and there will be specially women-managed polling stations.
08:43Webcasting shall be 100% in all the polling stations,
08:47and there will be Divyang brothers and sisters-managed polling stations as well.
08:55The electoral exercise in India is one of the largest and most unique exercise in the world.
09:05For example, in Assam, the polling teams undertake arduous journey of 50 to 60 kilometers
09:14from Majuli via ferry and road across Brahmaputra River
09:20and finally reach the remote Dhanagana polling station,
09:25where 248 electors are there and they reach there by tractor in the end.
09:32Similarly, in Kerala, Edamalkudi has around 693 electors,
09:39a tribal area of Ittiki district where the polling officials reach
09:44by completing 30 kilometers of journey through budget off-road terrain
09:51by specified vehicles and followed by 8-kilometer trek by foot.
09:58Similarly, in Assam,
10:02similar to West Bengal,
10:03in Alipurda district,
10:06polling teams take through the
10:08Maksha-Traigar reserve hills
10:11to reach the polling booths
10:12of 759 electors
10:15and similarly,
10:18in Tamil Nadu,

10:23polling officers travel three hours
10:25across difficult terrain
10:26to reach five electors.
10:29Pudhichiri also,
10:32in its Chidambraum Pillai schools,

10:39was designated model polling stations
10:41which has two polling stations
10:43of 722 and 651 electors.
10:48A total of 25 lakh election officials
10:52shall be deployed
10:53across five states and union territory,

11:22The voter awareness campaign

11:30revision enumeration forms.
11:32Apart from that,
11:34the election commission itself,
11:36the chief electoral officers
11:37and our sweep icons
11:39have penetrated deep
11:41with the substantial range
11:44and depth
11:45to reach each and every voter.
11:49For EVM awareness,
11:52various camps have been organized
11:54at the district level
11:56and even at the returning officers level
11:58to ensure
11:59that the transparency,
12:02the efficiency
12:02and the information dissemination
12:05regarding
12:05these transparent electronic
12:07voting machines
12:08reaches the grassroots.
12:12The EVM awareness
