00:00Taiwan's dairy industry is taking issues with the government's new proposed dietary guidelines.
00:06The new proposal cuts people's recommended daily amount of milk by half.
00:11Industry leaders say that lower tariffs for American dairy products will already eat into their market share.
00:18They also say milk is a valuable source of calcium and lower consumption will impact children's growth.
00:24The health ministry says that the new guidelines are still in the proposal stage and it's still open to adjusting
00:30them.
00:32We still have to consider the difference between the age of the year and the different types of changes.
00:39So I'm asking the State Department to collect more information and discuss with the experts.
00:47We will be able to change the changes in the future.
00:50Taiwan's current health guidelines recommend 1,000 milligrams of calcium a day for adults and 1,200 for children and
00:58teens.
