00:04The race to the sun was taken by the scruff of the neck on stage five,
00:08with Jonas Winkegaard picking up his second win in as many days.
00:11The Danish rider looks to have overall victory all but wrapped up
00:14as he's backed by some strong teammates who will perhaps have a chance to claim a win themselves on stage
00:19six.
00:22The climbs aren't as tough today, so it's more difficult for a rider to break clear on his own.
00:27We'll see, but a breakaway could get the win today.
00:34The day's run-in to apt will again require strong legs, but it's not as demanding as stage five.
00:39It was a big day too for EF Education Easy Post.
00:42With the white jersey, the green jersey and two riders in the top ten, they had skin in the game.
00:49It's clear that on paper, breakaway is written in big letters for the profile.
00:56But in modern day cycling, you can't predict anything.

01:05At the start, I think it'll be like yesterday, all out for two hours.
01:11Could it be a day for a breakaway?
01:13Probably not, with the sprinters looking to make the most of slim pickings.
01:17XDS and Astana were hoping to make an impression too, an add to Max Cantor's surprise win on stage two.
01:27I don't think it'll be a breakaway, I think it'll be a small bunch sprint.
01:31I'd expect 20 riders, not more at the finish.
01:34Potentially, Guermet's team could control it, even though that looks difficult on paper.
01:38There are riders like Brian Cocker who are on form, Kofidis could control it, Ineos for Godin.
01:45All the teams not in the breakaway will do something anyway.
01:47So for me, it's never over.
01:54There were 179 km for the riders to negotiate from Ba Bontan to Abt with that bumpy run into the
02:01finish that could cause some a problem.
02:03The recipe for victory looked like getting into the right breakaway and then holding off the peloton after a fast
02:08start to the stage.
02:13Indeed, after zipping along at an average of 48 km an hour for the first two hours and smothering numerous
02:19attacks,
02:20the peloton finally saw four men move clear.
02:23In the lead group, Josh Tarling for an Ineos Grenadiers team that has struggled so far,
02:28with him, Steph Kras of Sudel Quickstep, the champion of Luxembourg, Artur Klukas of Tudor,
02:33and one of UAE Team Emirates Spanish riders, Igor Arrieta.
02:39They put daylight between themselves, but the lead never got beyond two minutes,
02:43and Kofidis clearly had their own ambitions as they joined Wiesma-Lisebeik in pulling the peloton along.
02:48Into the last 50 km the lead was down to around 1 minute 30.
02:54As the breakaway's hopes of winning on the day dwindled,
02:57Jonas Wienegaard's hold on the yellow jersey got stronger by the minute.
03:01Coming into stage six, he was over three minutes clear, a winning margin not seen since 1980.
03:06Last year, Wienegaard's teammate Matteo Jorgensen won by a minute and 15 seconds,
03:11already a comfortable gap in a race often decided by just a handful of seconds.
03:19The pace dropped only slightly ahead of the third difficulty of the day, the Col de l'air del Masco.
03:28That was the cue for Lidltrek's Soren Kraag-Andersen, the champion of Denmark, to try to close the gap to
03:33the leaders.
03:34After this summit, there was just one more climb before the finish.
03:41At the top, the leaders had half a minute in hand on Kraag-Andersen and a further 20 seconds on
03:46the peloton.
03:50Kraas was dropped on the descent and soon had Kraag-Andersen for company.
03:58Slightly uphill, over three kilometres to the intermediate sprint at Saint-Martin de Castillon, the leaders had to keep pushing.
04:06Back down the road, certain teams no longer wanted to pursue the leaders, so it was up to Lidltrek to
04:11take up the pace.
04:14They upped the peloton's tempo, with Kraag-Andersen now leading the collective charge.
04:21With 15 kilometres to go, the lead trio still had 50 seconds in hand.
04:31Lidltrek were keeping the pace high though, so high that the peloton fractured with 10 kilometres left.
04:40Up front, Kluka's legs failed him, leaving just two riders at the front, to hit the Côte de Seigneur first.
04:49It was a climb that could see the leaders crack, just as it could break the will of the sprinters,
04:53as the peloton continued to splinter.
04:57After Lidltrek's push, Viktor Kampenert took on the pace.
05:00He left green jersey Luke Lamperti in his wake, along with other big names such as Binyam Gamay and Jasper
05:05Steuven.
05:07And after the lead duo had been swallowed up, the punchers saw their opportunity, with Leni Martinez the first to
05:14try his luck.
05:15Now Leni Martinez starts to open up. Look at this from Varian Victorious, and Leni Martinez is going to take
05:21a huge, huge risk.
05:26The attack splintered the field, and there were some 15 riders now out in front, when Harold Tejeda decided to
05:32go it alone with less than five kilometres to go.
05:35The Colombian maintained his advantage on the descent, before heading into the final kilometre with enough in hand to take
05:42the day's honours in apt.
05:47And Harold Tejeda has to continue to push on. He took the chance. He's only got 150 metres to go,
05:54and Harold Tejeda of XTS Astana is going to take the biggest win of his career.
05:59He wins in the World Tour, and he's a Paris-Nice stage winner.
06:04Harold Tejeda, the Colombian, wins stage six. The French champion is denied, and Darien Godin takes second.
06:13Third on stage five, Harold Tejeda finally celebrating a first World Tour win at 28 years old.
06:20The stage winner on the Tour of Colombia two years ago, Tejeda has hit the ground running in 2026 with
06:24fourth place on the UAE Tour in February.
06:28Tejeda also gives XTS Astana a second stage victory of this year's Paris-Nice after Max Cantor's triumph on stage

07:26Tejeda's win takes him into the top ten.
07:29The green jersey stays with Luke Lamperti, but Godin is now just five points behind the American with two stages

07:39As far as the King of the Mountains is concerned, that stays with Winkegaard too.
07:44Tejeda's efforts once again seeing him rewarded with a place in the top ten.
07:51And Steinhauser still has the white jersey ahead of Vauclain as the race's best young rider.
07:58Those two are also battling for a spot on the podium.
