00:00Could the Premier League be about to witness it's most shocking and unexpected relegation?
00:05That's right Tottenham Hotspur, I'm talking about you.
00:08Now let's be honest, Spurs are not in a good way.
00:10They finished 17th in the Premier League last season and now it looks like they might be doing even worse.
00:16However, this would not be the first time that they have actually been relegated from the English top flight.
00:21They last suffered relegation in 1978 but came back up at the very first attempt.
00:27Now Spurs, you have to say, are in good company because all of the other members of the so-called
00:32Big Six in the Premier League have actually been relegated before.
00:36The only thing is, you might not remember most of them.
00:38Before Manchester City became the Manchester City that we know and some people love,
00:43they were actually relegated twice from the Premier League in 1996 and 2001.
00:49Now in between, they were even relegated to English Soccer's third tier in 1998
00:54where they spent one season before earning back-to-back promotions to get back to the Premier League.
01:00Chelsea are a very similar case in that they have suffered numerous relegations throughout their history.
01:05The last of those came in 1988 and they spent one season in the second tier before earning promotion back
01:13to the top division
01:14where they have stayed ever since.
01:15As for Manchester United, they have also been relegated, although you might not remember it.
01:21That last happened in 1974, only six years after they won the European Cup for the very first time.
01:28They also came back up at the very first attempt.
01:31Liverpool were the English champions five times in the first half of the 20th century
01:37but they were relegated in spectacular fashion in 1954
01:41and it took them an incredible eight years to get back up to the English top division.
01:47Normal service resumed fairly quickly as they won two league titles in their next four years after promotion.
01:54And finally, Arsenal, who were last relegated in 1913.
01:59After two years in the second tier, they returned to the English top division
02:03but it was not without controversy, oh no.
02:07Instead of earning promotion on the field, Arsenal were re-elected to the first division
02:10as it expanded in 1919 after a hiatus for the First World War.
02:16The Gunners won a ballot to play in the top league ahead of six other teams
02:19which resulted in Spurs being relegated.
02:23Could Spurs be going down again?
02:24It's not looking good.
