00:18Jared, it's not the first time the two have played someone that, at least on the surface,
00:24has no emotions. I want to know why are you so fascinated by characters that doesn't feel
00:32anything on the surface? I mean, it's an interesting question. What are you referring to? What are the
00:38other ones? Are you referring to Blade Runner? Yeah, also, yeah. This one, now we are a program,
00:45so... Sure, yeah. Even more, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I mean, yeah, I mean, honestly, I just wanted to be a

00:54of the film. And there was, about 10 years ago, they sent me a script, actually more than that,
01:01I have to say. In 2010, they asked me to be in the last movie. Did I tell you this?
01:06No. Yeah,
01:07I just remembered this, like, last week when we were doing interviews. They asked me to be in Legacy.
01:13And I couldn't do it at the time. So that's a long time ago. It must have been 2008 or
01:199,
01:19because it came out in 2010, right? Yeah. So they asked me to be in that, and I really loved
01:25Joe, and I loved the film that they made. I thought it was fantastic. And then they were
01:31going to make a sequel to that, and they sent me the script. And again, it wasn't the right kind
01:36of
01:37thing for me at the time, but there was this character in it named Ares that they wanted me
01:42to play. And I said, well, if this doesn't work out, or if you're ever interested in pursuing this
01:47character and wrapping a film around this character, I'd be really excited. And then a year later,
01:53they said, hey, we're not going to make that other version. And here we are. Only took us 10 years,
02:00but we're here. And yes, it was more just about being part of the film initially than it was
02:06the character. Yeah. To everybody, since AI, it's our reality, it's not science fiction anymore.
02:17In your opinion, is it possible that maybe in the future, AI, like some of your characters,
02:23don't spoil it, maybe we'll have a spark of humanity. Do you believe it's possible or not?
02:30I think so. What about you? If they'll have a spark of humanity? Yeah. We're already there almost. Yeah.
02:38But I really think that these programs are just a reflection of the users. So I don't know.
02:47I mean, I feel that artificial intelligence is really just imitating based on all the knowledge
02:53that it has. Now, arguably, you know, is it, if you can't really tell, does it make a difference?
03:02But it's like, you know, this, I'm not sure that there's going to be, you know,
03:09I don't think there's going to be an Aries.
03:10Maybe one day it'll think we're the artificial ones.
03:13Maybe. Yeah.
03:14Yeah, I think AI is a big part of the subject matter of the film.
03:18I've learned a lot about AI on this journey.
03:21And I think personally, as a filmmaker and an artist, I'm a little bit mixed emotions about it, honestly.
03:31Like, I'm a little, some good guardrails along the way.
03:35But that said, I think it's, as most technologies, I think it can be used for good, you know.
03:41And I'm hoping that that is what we're going to do with AI.
03:45We're going to, you know, help cure cancer and, you know, other issues that we have.
03:53And so I have to somewhat be friends with it.
04:00And, but it's been a very interesting journey for me as a filmmaker and a storyteller making this movie.
