00:00Berlin's central station is one of the largest and newest transit train stations in Europe,
00:05but it's plagued by problems. 35 of the 52 escalators are out of service.
00:12Now even Berlin's mayor Kai Wegener has intervened. Wegener has told railway company
00:17Deutsche Bahn that he expects the problem, which has been going on for around three weeks,
00:22to be resolved as soon as possible. Until then, passengers will have to carry their
00:27suitcases and walk up the stairs. Much to the chagrin of the approximately 300,000 travelers
00:32who have to get from one platform to another.
01:07Deutsche Bahn has hired specialists from Finland to repair the escalators this week.
01:11Spare parts have been ordered from all over the world to restore normal operation as soon as possible.
01:17But it's still unclear how long this will take.
