01:12Did you know about this crazy story before joining the project, and how did you approach
01:19this true, but not so true, aspect of it?
01:23No, I did not know a thing about the story, but when Jamie Lee Curtis called me and said
01:31she wanted me to do this, I thought, well, let me read it.
01:37It sounds fascinating, and you know, it is inspired by the story.
01:43Yeah.
01:44You know, and we take off on another path, but a lot of the things in it are true.
01:50That's right.
01:51It's a completely new story, so personally, I approach it like it's a completely new story,
01:59so let's do the thing.
02:01It doesn't matter what happened for real.
02:06Okay.
02:10What was the most crazy characteristic to play about each one of your characters?
02:16For me, it was going from rage to deep emotion.
02:27I start at a very high pitch, and I only go higher.
02:32That's an unusual thing to play, but quite fun, actually.
02:38I would say I start out as one thing appearing to be quite together, quite slick, maybe a little
02:46charming, and then I sort of, over the course of these short six episodes, my character really
02:52runs the gamut from vicious and downright lethal to absolutely idiotic and completely out of
03:01his element.
03:03And then lastly, just really sort of this broken, sad, lost, desperate shell of a man.
03:11So it really was an opportunity in a very short amount of time to explore a myriad of character
03:18traits and emotions.
03:19It was just really thrilling to do as an actor.
03:22I was really glad to play the kind of undercover side of my character because I work for the
03:29association, but I want to rob them.
03:31So to play like on both levels, it was really cool.
03:36Yeah, yeah.
03:37It's like a revenge for all three of your characters.
03:41And how did you play these characters that are so over the top, but also so human, so grounded
03:49in a way?
03:50Root with the husband, Remy with the father, and so on.
03:56You know, that's the way we approach, that's the way we as actors approach most things.
04:02If it's not real.
04:03It's not funny.
04:04It's not funny.
04:05It's not funny.
04:05It'd become a sketch.
04:06That's right.
04:07Also, I mean, it's very human, right?
04:08I mean, in our lives, we know people that are over the top in their reactions to things.
04:13And, you know, no one wakes up in the morning, even if they're a terrible person, they don't
04:17wake up twisting their mustache saying, today I will be extra evil.
04:20You know what I mean?
04:21I mean, so people are people, and people in their private moments are ridiculous.
04:27And so it's like Guillaume and Margot said.
04:30We find the reality, and the more real the moment, the more honest and hopefully funny
04:36it will be when necessary.
04:38And if you don't plug to the truth, you don't want them to succeed.
04:43You're not afraid for them.
04:44You're not caring for them to succeed.
04:47It's just a sketch.
04:48Also, there's a thing to desperation, I think, I mean, for me, I find, and this is a terrible
04:56thing to say, but in the world of acting, I find desperation extremely funny.
05:03because, you know, I don't know.
05:07I don't know why.
05:08It's true.
05:08It's funny.
05:09Because it's a heightened real emotion.
05:11Yeah.

05:12They've done a show called Desperate Housewives, not by chance.

05:21Since this is a comedy, was there a particular scene during shooting that you had to shoot
05:26multiple times because you couldn't stop laughing?
05:31I think that happened a lot.

05:58I was going to say this, though, a distinction that's important, Federico, is this is a comedy
06:02and there are definitely funny moments, but the show is very unique.
06:06I think akin to a show like The Bear, for example, which is also a half-hour comedy, the
06:12show explores a darkness and a bent underworld, particularly one that we've never seen in
06:18this northern Quebec sort of world.
06:22There is humor, but there's also...
06:24It is laced with drama.
06:26It's laced with intrigue.
06:28Wouldn't you say, guys?
06:29Yes, absolutely.
06:30It's a very unique sort of genre, I think.

06:46A lot of shows are shooting Canada in the last years, but set in other countries.
06:51How it was to be a part of a Canadian show behind and in front of the camera?
06:57I fucking loved it.
06:59I'm Canadian.
07:00I'm from Toronto.
07:01And I can't tell you how many things I've shot in Toronto, in Vancouver, in Halifax.
07:04and they're, you know, oh, this is New York or this is Chicago or this is...
07:08I love that we are shooting Canada for Canada and I actually think that it might be one of
07:14the first times where it's not putting on a sort of, oh, this is Canada feeling.
07:20It's a real city with these dark, bent, flawed characters and I think, first of all, shooting
07:29in Montreal was a dream.
07:31A dream.
07:32Wonderful crew, beautiful locations.
07:34Your hometown.
07:35Yeah.
07:36Anyway, that was me.
07:38Guillaume, what do you think, pal?
07:39Well, I was glad to not fake Quebec in Vermont.
07:44Like, you know, and so we shot in Montreal so they can hire Montreal actor for real.
07:52So we have real French Canadian accent in the show and it's, it became the show more unique
08:01in that sense, in that way, you know?
08:03And the French Canadian actors are all doing double duty because they're speaking English.
08:11So it's like they're doing...
08:13And it's not our first language.
08:15That's right.
08:15It's not their first language.
08:17But they did, and I do have to say, Frederico, so obviously Guillaume, Margot, you know, we've
08:22got some great actors on the show.
08:23All of the rest of the cast, it's just one better than the other than the other.
08:27I mean, really marvelous actors.
08:29Margot and I were just saying, it was such a rich cast.
08:32I think people are going to be very pleasantly surprised.

08:37With the cameo of Jamie Lee Curtis too.

09:00Well, because so much can go wrong.

09:04In life in general, when these plans are hatched, when people are thinking in nefarious
09:09ways and thinking, you know, how can we do something that, you know, that we're not supposed
09:14to do, there are so many variables because people are people.
09:19And I think that's where the comedy comes in, no?
