00:14How much does it weigh now Cap's shield?
00:19It weighs the exact same amount.
00:21You know, he got the original shield from Steve Rogers
00:24and that's the same shield that Sam Wilson uses.
00:27You know, in terms of maybe emotionally how much does it weigh,
00:31Sam has really embraced the shield.
00:33He's our Captain America now.
00:34And what was interesting about this movie was
00:37it's one thing to accept the shield in theory.
00:40It's another thing to wield the shield in practice.
00:43So this story is also really about how Sam is defining his role as Captain America
00:48and leaning into his own unique superpower
00:51as somebody who's this incredibly empathetic individual.
00:54So it's very exciting to put him in a paranoid and political thriller
00:58where that element of what makes him so unique is being tested over the course of the story.
01:03Yeah, speaking philosophically, he now is also not only the heir of the previous Captain America,
01:13but also of Black Panther because his wings come from Wakanda.
01:18So how important was it to you to really bring on also Black Panther's legacy?
01:24Well, you know, there's such a great history in terms of how these characters interplay and connect.
01:30And, you know, those wings that he receives are a big part of what defines him as this new Captain
01:36America,
01:37as this hero who flies.
01:38So you see elements of, you know, Wakandan energy and you obviously you see how this Wakandan tech works.
01:44He's got a vibranium helmet as well, which is one of the really exciting things that was cool to bring.
01:50I pitched that early on and I was so glad that it was embraced by the team at Marvel to
01:55give him a helmet
01:56and really allow him then to soar in the air and very cool action sequences where we get to see
02:02him even go at mock speeds.
02:04But in terms of that Wakandan element, it still is something that because Sam had these wings before are uniquely
02:11Sam.
02:12And it's also what makes him his own unique Captain America.
02:15And we will soon see the Young Avengers.
02:19I want to know if you're excited about it.
02:22And do you believe that Sam could be a mentor for them?
02:27Well, Sam is a character that, you know, especially as Captain America that anybody can look up to, you know,
02:32so I'm excited for everything that's going to come next in the MCU.
02:37But first and foremost, what I'm most excited about right now is Captain America Brave New World
02:42and sharing this story with the audience and sharing this incredible cast, Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford and Carl Lumbly
02:49and Tim Blake Nelson and Danny Ramirez.
02:51We've got such a great group.
02:53And, you know, of course, the great Giancarlo Esposito as well.
02:57So the movie is going to be very, very exciting for audiences in a few weeks.
03:02And speaking about your cast, I was transforming Harrison Ford into Red Hulk.
03:07I'm still pinching myself that we got to do that, you know.
03:10It was awesome.
03:12Harrison really cares about the work he does.
03:15And it was very important that there was a clear through line from what he was doing as that as
03:20Ross to what needed to be done as the Red Hulk.
03:23And even just the details, right, Ryan Minerding and the visual development team at Marvel, all the work that was
03:29done.
03:29And then eventually with Weta, who did the visual effects, you know, you see these incredible details.
03:34The little the scar on Harrison's chin is there in Red Hulk, the shape of his nose, his eyes.
03:41All those things are a part of it because the emotional through line in this film that we have, the
03:47story about empathy between Sam Wilson and Thaddeus Ross has to continue through the action of the film also with
03:55Red Hulk.
03:55So as fun as it was from a kind of geek standpoint and from an MCU fan standpoint, it was
04:02just as much fun as a director in terms of themes and character and performance.
04:07And Harrison made sure that that through line was consistent from his human form to his Hulk form.
04:13And we have also Daniela Mirriott, as you were saying, is the new Falcon.
04:18Is he worthy?
04:19Of course he is.
04:20Danny is somebody I've been a huge fan of for a very long time.
04:24And he brings so much charm and so much excitement.
04:27You know, it's fun to be a superhero and you feel that infectious fun from Danny.
04:32And he's got this great dynamic as well.
04:35It's a big brother, little brother dynamic between Sam Wilson and Joaquin Torres and a real sense of brotherhood, too.
04:41You know, Sam has had a real, you know, history with his wingman, you know, going back to Riley, who
04:47we, you know, we came to know of in The Winter Soldier.
04:50Now it's Joaquin Torres.
04:52And that bond between them also pays off in a really, really powerful, emotional way in this film.
