00:02Actor, fitness icon and former supermodel Melian Soman believes the era of larger-than-life
00:09global superstars has largely passed, further nothing that today's entertainment landscape
00:15is far more fragmented than before. In an exclusive conversation, the actor noted that
00:22as audiences become more fragmented, stardom will become more Nietzsche. The actor further
00:28discussing his early days in modeling and the admiration to continues to receive across
00:34generations. Melian reacted on how the idea of iconic stardom has evolved over the years,
00:41stating that audiences today are much more fragmented.
00:45It's worth it to people who enjoy it. But what I feel is that that whole era is over,
00:51not only in fashion modeling, not even internationally, everywhere, even if you see actors,
00:58they always talk about these are the last superstars. Whether it's in Hindi movies,
01:03whether it's in English movies, these are the last superstars. You will not see a star like Clint
01:08Eastwood anymore or Arnold Schwarzenegger anymore or Tom Cruise. Who is the next? Where are they?
01:15So you look here and you say, okay, Amitabh Bachchan was there. There's nobody like Amitabh Bachchan anymore.
01:20And in every field, it's like that. You look at music. Where is Michael Jackson? Anybody to take
01:26over? Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna. There's nobody who has achieved that kind of
01:34stardom, that iconic presence. It's not that because the audience doesn't want it. It's so fragmented today
01:41that everybody likes their own genre of whatever it is. I listen to only this kind of music. I watch
01:47only these kind of movies. I see only that kind of series. I like only this fashion because everything
01:53has become fragmented today. And the more fragmented it gets, the smaller the stars will be. Because
02:00they're all niche. Nobody is overarching everything else anymore. There's only one Rajni Rajnikant and
02:06one Amitabh Bachchan. That's it. Talking about his professional front,
02:10he will next be seen in the upcoming series, Kataan, which also stars Vijay Sethupati.
