00:00Hi, nice to meet you.
00:01Hi, nice to meet you.
00:09Jake, you have got a beautiful voice.
00:19We heard you sing on Broadway.
00:21You've got so beautiful and expressive eyes,
00:24but you really love physical transformation.
00:27Why do you love so much to change your body
00:30and work on it for a movie?
00:32I mean, I always love to, first of all, thanks.
00:35That's very nice.
00:36Thank you.
00:36But I think that I always stay in physical shape.
00:44You know, it's important to me.
00:45You know, I think that as actors, you know, performers,
00:49you'd say, you'd say, you know,
00:50it's good to take care of, as they would say, your instrument.
00:54You know, it's like, this is what we use for our work.
00:57And as you get older, it's really important
00:58to make sure that you stay in that.
01:00It always makes me feel good, you know,
01:02physical, for mental health, all of those things.
01:04So I always stay in good shape.
01:06I love to do that.
01:08I'm very active.
01:09In order for roles, it's just, it's fun.
01:13You know, I mean, I find that fun too.
01:15I know some people might think that that's odd,
01:17but I don't.
01:18And I love really like digging in and getting in
01:21and working hard as well as digging into the words
01:25and digging into the ideas of the story.
01:28It's the same thing in the physical.
01:30I love that too.
01:31And I almost need it.
01:33So to have a role that combines both for me is ideal.
01:36And Daniela, you in the middle of all that testosterone,
01:41your alley has got such an attitude.
01:45And do you believe that the thumb is stronger than the fist?
01:51Especially as a Portuguese girl, I think so.
01:56Because, yeah, at least my experience,
02:00I'm not saying bad things about Portuguese men
02:04or men in general,
02:05but with a Portuguese girl,
02:06we're used to be the ones,
02:08at least in Portuguese,
02:09we say that we put the pants on in every house, you know.
02:14Yeah, and I try to take a little bit of that
02:16for my character, of course.
02:18Not as hot blood as the Latinas, you know.
02:24It's a different kind of fears.
02:27But, yeah, but I brought the Portuguese,
02:30that Portuguese side.
02:32I can relate because in Italy we have the same, same.
02:35Ci mettiamo i pantaloni.
02:37Ah, really?
02:38Nice.
02:39And Jake, your character says that he's not the hero,
02:43but another character says to him
02:45that is either, is neither the villain.
02:49Do you believe that we need more complexity in movies?
02:53How much do we need critical thinking
02:55also in stories?
02:58I think it's essential.
03:01That's actually one of the lines I loved.
03:02There are a few lines in the movie
03:04that made me want to do that film.
03:06and that was one of them.
03:08I think, yeah, the complexity of a character
03:11and the human experience and who we are
03:15is not binary.
03:16And I really think it's important
03:19to even in a big movie like this,
03:20even in the sort of sense of humor
03:22and the fun and the joy and the playfulness of it,
03:25to be able to communicate the complexity of a person.
03:31You know, that's what I loved about Dalton.
03:33You know, he had this experience
03:34and as you enter the movie of like regret
03:38and all the things that he,
03:40history that he carried with him,
03:41but he uses it in a way, I think, to move through it.
03:45And he's a very complex person.
03:47Their relationship I love because of that as well.
03:50You know, I don't want to give too much away,
03:53but I love that it doesn't follow
03:55the same trajectory that we're used to.
03:57So there are things in it
03:59and that's what makes a Doug Liman movie so original
04:02is that you always know
04:04you're going to get something fun to watch,
04:06but you know you're always going to get
04:08a complex character.
04:09And for me, it's always important,
04:11even in a big fun movie.
04:12And to you both, you have a Titanic style scene
04:17in this movie.
04:18How was it?
04:19Did you call yourself Jack and Rose
04:21during that scene?
04:23Remember the end of the kissing scene?
04:26Yes.
04:27But do you remember at the end of that scene
04:28we were supposed to fall into the water?
04:30Remember we were supposed to,
04:32they cut that out.
04:33Yeah, we like fell into the water.
04:34But then we didn't,
04:35but I remember that on the last take
04:38I ended up falling.
04:40Remember on the water?
04:42There was a time where like,
04:42we'll just try to fall.
04:43You were like,
04:44you're like trying to pull me down with you.
04:48But we didn't,
04:49we didn't,
04:50we didn't call each other.
04:51Yeah.
04:52No, we had a good time.
04:54That was really fun.
04:55And by the way,
04:56an incredible location.
04:57Yeah, that was so cool.
04:59Like a sandbar in the middle of the ocean.
05:01So cool.
05:02In this movie,
05:03the characters say that family runs deep
05:06and JQ are an uncle
05:10and I'm an auntie too.
05:12I have two nephew,
05:14two twins.
05:15They are almost two.
05:16So I want to ask you,
05:17so we are all in the secret society
05:20of aunts and uncles.
05:22We are members.
05:23And I want to know,
05:25would you watch this movie
05:27with your nephews
05:28and what do you think
05:30they will say about you
05:32in this movie?
05:34You know,
05:35the thing about my nieces
05:35is that they're just always,
05:37they're such,
05:38first of all,
05:38they're such brilliant people
05:41and they have such big hearts
05:44and they're so encouraging.
05:45It's one of the things
05:46that I love about them so much.
05:47My sister and brother-in-law
05:48have raised
05:49such wise,
05:52thoughtful individuals.
05:54and so they see me
05:56probably better
05:57than I see myself
05:58and they support me
06:00no matter what.
06:02Don't make me,
06:02don't get me emotional about it
06:04because I feel like I am
06:05when I talk about them,
06:06but they make me so proud
06:09and I know that they would encourage me
06:12no matter what
06:12and I will be there
06:14for the rest of their lives
06:15doing the same thing.
06:16I can totally relate.
06:18They are amazing nephews
06:19and your character says
06:24I'm afraid more
06:26than you can even understand.
06:28To you both,
06:28do you believe that
06:29being afraid,
06:31fear,
06:32sometimes is a good emotion,
06:34sometimes can be an asset
06:36or not?
06:37I think taking risk
06:38in one's life
06:39and one's work
06:40always requires a bit of that
06:42and I think that courage
06:44is such an important part
06:45in stepping into
06:46all those spaces.
06:48I don't know how
06:49I feel that
06:53most of my fear
06:54comes from the feeling
06:56of responsibility,
06:58so that's nice
06:59to have that awareness,
07:03but as long as we don't
07:05let the fear
07:06to take over our lives
07:08and to be
07:08the biggest feeling
07:10that we feel the most
07:12on everything,
07:14yeah.
07:15Thank you so much.
07:17Thank you.
07:17Bye.
07:18Thank you.
07:18Have a wonderful day.
07:20Thank you.
