00:00Hi Valentina.
00:01Hi, nice to meet you.
00:20So, you both were questionable mentors in Clone Wars and in Flesh and Bone.
00:28Now, here, you are both questionable heroes.
00:33So, first of all, why are you keeping setting a bad example for everybody?
00:40And second, what makes, in your opinion, a good mentor, a good leader?
00:45I think setting a bad example is amazing.
00:51I love it.
00:52Those are the people that push the buttons.
00:54And I think they're the people that, I don't know,
00:57I think you learn from those people that kind of, like, go out into the world
01:01and don't necessarily follow the rules.
01:05I think they sometimes open up, you know,
01:08sort of visions of life that you don't necessarily see.
01:11If you think about artists that are like that,
01:14the ones that kind of break the rules are the ones that we know and love, you know.
01:18So, you know, it's like Van Gogh who has, like, laughed at in his time.
01:23But now those paintings are absolutely wonderful and they change the face of the world.
01:28So, I don't know.
01:29I think people that set a bad example or what is a bad example?
01:34You know.
01:35Yeah, it's good.
01:36It's a perspective thing, really, on what do you think is a bad example or not.
01:39So, what makes for a good leader?
01:41Actually, I do think that a good leader is quite opposite of someone who, well, I don't know.
01:48Maybe not.
01:48I don't know.
01:49It's hard, that, isn't it?
01:50It is hard.
01:51It is hard.
01:51I think a good leader, though, maybe sticks to what they believe firmly
01:57and sees the truth and the just in that direction and sticks to it, maybe.
02:05But then that means they can't really change.
02:07If they, you know, maybe they could learn something.
02:11Maybe a good leader listens as well as gives.
02:16That's true.
02:17Clearly, you're a better leader than me.
02:23But you lead us in the chaos.
02:25Yeah.
02:27But what fun that chaos would be for fun.
02:34Your characters gain their powers because they both make a leap of faith.
02:40So, how important is making leaps of faith in life?
02:43And how can we do it?
02:44Because it's not so easy at first.
02:47I think it's always exciting to leap into the dark sometimes.
02:53I think staying in the light a lot of the time is great and it's comfortable.
02:58But to take a leap in the dark sometimes is really risky.
03:07But it makes you feel alive.
03:09And, you know, so, you know, if possible, and no one is going to be harmed by it,
03:14take the leap into the darkness because you never know what's on the other side.
03:20Yeah, I think that's tough because I think without leaping into the darkness,
03:27you know, you don't get some of the change that's needed.
03:30and there are other perspectives.
03:33And I actually have to take this back to the show.
03:35I think Sheldon says that, that there's always another way to do something.
03:41So, as much as he actually says that to Brandon, which is interesting,
03:44he only sticks to his one way.
03:47So, yeah, it's kind of interesting.
03:49But, yeah, I think that you just kind of need a bit of both.
03:52I really think in the end of it all, like life is about balance.
03:56I think happiness is about balance.
03:57I think you need to leap into the darkness at some times.
04:00And I think you need to have your stability and your, you know,
04:04your kind of pillars over here.
04:06And super deep question, actually.
04:09But, yeah.
04:09Yeah, not too much dark side.
04:11Yeah, yeah, we know that.
04:14And I think that these characters are so fascinating because we see them in the 20s
04:20and then 19 years later.
04:22So, in your opinion, how important it is to know our past, our history?
04:27We can know where are we going if we don't know our past.
04:32So, how important it is for you knowing history, knowing our past?
04:35I think we all, you know, we all carry our lives around with us.
04:42And I think if you can learn lessons from your life, and life isn't always great.
04:51You know, it can be tough and it can be dark sometimes.
04:55And it's just trying to, yeah, like Matt said, kind of like live in a kind of balanced way, really.
05:03But if you can learn from your past, you know, your past can, you know, support you.
05:11Or if you let it, it can bring you down.
05:13Or sometimes it brings you down anyway.
05:15But it's inescapable, really.
05:19And I think that is the same for the characters in the show.
05:22Their pasts are inescapable, ultimately.
05:25I think what we see happen to them in the present day is because of those relationships that were already
05:32there in their 1920s.
05:35I think that one of the main lessons that I remember from 7th grade social studies, along with studying hurricanes,
05:43is that history repeats itself.
05:45And I think that's a phrase to really understand and remember.
05:50And actually, last night, I was watching a World War II documentary.
05:53And history repeats itself.
05:55I think what that really means is we all need to learn from our history that hasn't worked and also
06:00learn from the history that has worked and start, you know, whittling away to get to a better place in
06:06the future and in the present day.
06:08So I think that certainly applies.
06:09And it applies in the show.
06:11I think that the younger characters are struggling with that.
06:15And, you know, I think you need to understand what works and what doesn't work in history in order to
06:20move forward.
06:21Thank you so much, guys.
06:23You are my two favorite characters and actors.
06:26Great work and thank you.
06:27Bye.
06:28Thanks very much.
