00:10Let's start off with episode one of Ballads and Bloodied Blades,
00:15written by some eget called Declan de Barra
00:17and directed by some genius called Sarah O'Gorman.

00:23Hi, my name is Declan de Barra.
00:25I'm the showrunner on The Witcher Blood Origin
00:27and I'm going to take you on a wee trip around Arborfield Studios,
00:30where we're filming.
00:31And we're going to start in our tiny, tiny wee, wee, wee little stage one.
00:35It's a tiny, tiny little place where we're building our tiny, tiny little sets.
00:42This is my new favourite building.
00:43It's props.
00:44They're all talented, cool kids in there.
00:47It's just a madhouse of cool things.
00:50I can't really show you anything.
00:52I can show you one thing.
00:54This is, when they say no animals were harmed,
00:56we built all around animals.
00:58So we needed fish.
01:00They built him a little scarf.
01:02Very smart eel.
01:03Sorry.
01:04So one of the best parts about writing a show like this
01:06is creating something on paper and dreaming it up.
01:09And then these talented people here bring it to life.
01:13This is one of our sets.
01:15This is one of our underwater sets.
01:17Not many people know this,
01:18but Blood Origin is set completely underwater.
01:20It's the origin of the elves.
01:22They have gills in this particular world.
01:24This will actually be repurposed in season six of The Witcher,
01:28where it becomes a drowner bar.
01:30Another thing that I really like about this season
01:32is that we are using real beasts.
01:35No CGI, no nothing.
01:37So we've actually genetically engineered our own beasts.
01:40We store them here.
01:41in these containers.
01:43We feed them three or four times a day
01:45with recalcitrant writers.
01:48We need COVID testing,
01:49and we do that constantly to make sure everybody's safe.
01:52This is where we test our ghouls.
01:55And despite this being a huge place,
01:56as you can see,
01:57it's massive and it stretches on and on and on,
02:00it's not going to be big enough for the world
02:02of The Witcher Blood Origin.
02:03So we're going to have to take you somewhere else.
02:09We're not just going to be filming on set.
02:12This is an epic show.
02:14So we need epic.
02:17You know, something like
02:21the earth has vomited up mountains out of nowhere.
02:25Yeah.
02:27That'll do.
02:29So the fun thing about Blood Origin
02:31is that we get to tell the story
02:33of what happened before the books,
02:35before the conjunction of spheres,
02:36the big calamitous event that happened
02:38that merged the world of monsters and men.
02:41And that is going to be
02:42the world of The Witcher Blood Origin.
02:45And we can't wait for you to see it.
