00:03Ho sentito storie su di te, Witcher.
00:09The theme of power is very important in The Witcher.
00:13So, what does it mean to be a powerful woman in the world of Witcher?
00:16Ooh, I'm gonna let you guys kick that off.
00:18I don't know about powerful woman, but there's just...
00:21All the women in The Witcher have such strong attributes
00:25and that's something that we explore in this series.
00:29Speaking from Yennefer, I feel like how unapologetic she is to be fierce,
00:38to show all the ugly side of emotion, to explore her rage.
00:45That's something that I took from her, you know, her independency,
00:48how empowered she is in her body.
00:50I think those are strong attributes and the things that inspire me
00:54from the women I look up to in my life.
00:56I think what's so exciting is such kind of strong characters have been given to us.
01:02You know, it's such a brilliant opportunity to be able to play characters
01:07who are multi-dimensional and it's not as simple as just they're powerful
01:12because they can fight, you know.
01:15You know, for Ciri, you see a lot of her power and her strength
01:19in her most vulnerable moments.
01:22And I think sometimes with strong characters, it's about, you know,
01:25being able to kind of sympathise with them even at their weakest of moments.
01:30Absolutely.
01:30And that's what creates, you know, such a strong character.
01:33And that's why I feel like we've been given...
01:35Yeah, in all women characters we've been given that.
01:36that's been great.
01:37Yeah.
01:38And what about your relationship with the world of Witcher before walking on the show?
01:43I had read the book The Last Wish before I came on the show and it was fantastic.
01:48And it actually remains my favourite book in the series.
01:50I think it so beautifully demonstrates this world and sets the foundation of it,
01:54the politics, the characters, their relationships with one another.
01:57And to me it was an ideal sort of launching point for the series.
02:02TV shows, books, movies, we are surrounded by fantasy world.
02:07And The Witcher is an exception in the fantasy world and why?
02:10Oh man, you know, I think that The Witcher is an exception for a couple of reasons.
02:15One, I think we dive into magic and monsters a lot in a way that hasn't been done on television.
02:20But to me the most important thing is about the characters.
02:24I like to say that you can take away all of the bells and whistles of the show.
02:28You can take away the violence, you can take away the monsters, the magic, the sex, the blood, the swords,
02:33all of it.
02:33And what you have is the relationships between three very broken characters.
02:38And that's the core of the series.
02:41Did you feel a little bit of oppression working on the show?
02:44That The Witcher has a very strong fan base.
02:47A little bit.
02:48It felt like oppression.
02:49Just a tiny bit?
02:50Just a little bit.
02:52Yeah, I had no idea of how many fans there were of The Witcher until I came on this project.
02:58I think shutting down my social media before I entered this job was a good thing
03:05because it meant that I could focus on my job and creating this character.
03:12I think for me at the start that wasn't even something, I was just so excited for it
03:17that it wasn't even something I was really kind of thinking too much about.
03:20I was just so excited to have actually got the role and to be doing it.
03:25It's flattering too.
03:27I mean to have the privilege of working on something that people love so much.
03:32It's really flattering.
03:34We all know that the show is based on the books, but can you tell me if the video game
03:40characters
03:40have influenced your artistic process in some way?
03:44I mean for me they did not.
03:46I played the video games, but to create the characters and to create the world I used the
03:50same inspiration the video games did, which are the books.
03:52Yeah, no. Again, I focused on the source material, which were the books and the script that we had,
03:59giving a backstory to a lot of these characters. So that was all in our new script.
04:06And what is your relationship with binge watching?
04:10A relationship? It's always good, isn't it?
04:13Short and sweet.
04:14Yeah.
04:16I mean I binge almost all of my television.
04:19I go through one show to another show to another show.
04:22It's the way that I love to watch.
04:24It means I get less sleep because it's really hard to turn off sometimes at the end of a night.
04:29Yeah.
04:31I'm not much of a binge watcher to be honest with you.
04:33I know that's not a great representation of, I'm not a good representative of Netflix.
04:39No, but I'm like, I actually really struggle to focus on TV shows.
04:43I probably jump around quite a bit, personally.
04:46You can do that on Netflix too.
04:49Yeah, exactly. There's a lot to jump around.
04:51There you go.
04:51There you go.
04:52Thank you so much.
04:53Thank you.
05:03A tremendous calamity on all of us.
05:08A superb adventure in the spear.
05:11Let's take off of the siege of the laundress.
05:16Awesome!
05:16Incredible Habitation.κι
