00:00My mom wanted her kids to be musicians, so at six years old, I was placed at a piano for
00:06two hours every day, and I went to a performing arts school.
00:09So my whole life was music, and my dad enrolled me in NC State University because he thought I would
00:15starve to death if I was a musician.
00:17And after taking a radio and television course, I went to my professors and I wanted to change my major,
00:21and my statistics professor said, no, we're after the drop-ad point here, you'll have to stick it out.
00:26I went back to my fraternity and my brother said, oh, that's ridiculous, just sign your professor's name to the
00:31drop-ad card.
00:32So I did, and then three months later, a chancellor sent a letter to my dad saying that I was
00:37being suspended.
00:38And then I got a job sweeping the floors at Rick D's station, WKIX, and that's really how I got
00:44started in radio and television, and eventually ended up at CBS News and then CBS Sports, and they needed music,
00:52and that's really how that happened.
