00:30He wasn't just Adam Goodes, the footballer, he was Adam Goodes, the angry Aboriginal.
00:36My mum is Indigenous, my dad is Irish, Scottish.
00:42Growing up, I actually didn't know what it meant to be an Indigenous person.
00:47Suddenly, for Adam, here was a history of invasion, of shooting, of separating children.
00:55I don't think most Australians understand what is racist and what isn't.
01:01Casual racism is there, it's alive and it's flourishing in our communities.
01:07All anyone ever wants is to be respected for who you are.
01:12The 2014 Australian of the Year, Adam Goodes.
01:17I believe racism is a community issue.
01:20It's remarkable, it gives you goosebumps.
01:24And that's why racism stops with me.
01:27That to me was the moment that summed him up.
01:33It's important that we give courage and voice to those people who do want to stand.
01:40Adam Goodes, if you're watching, this is for you.
01:45The more I learned about what it meant to be Aboriginal, the more proud I got.
01:52He's a champion.
01:54And he always will be a champion, Goodesie.
01:59My hope for him is that he can show others that there's a path.
02:04From the worst of Australia, to the best of Australia.
