00:09John was in love with the idea of Downey playing the part
00:11and we all felt so sure about him on a creative level
00:16because he wasn't instantly a slam dunk approval
00:19I suggested we have screen tests.
00:24I remember walking in with Robert Downey Jr.
00:26the day of the tests.
00:28He was laughing and in great spirits and completely at ease
00:32and he got in front of the camera and started seeing the lines.
00:35I assure you the day weapons are no longer needed
00:37to keep the piece all happily transist
00:38to manufacturing bricks and beams for baby hospitals
00:41making hemp pants and the like
00:42but until that time can I get you a drink?
00:44I don't want to call it an out-of-body experience
00:46but it was one of those rushes
00:48that I'm sure like somebody would feel
00:50if they're about to play a big sporting arena
00:52playing for the ring or something like that.
00:54It was just like am I going to pass out
00:56or am I going to nail this?
00:57On that day that Robert screen tested
00:59it was clear that there was no one else
01:01who can play that part.

01:08with Kevin, with John, with everyone
01:10that we all wanted to have that feeling
