00:55while accelerating the green transition.
00:58Over the last decade,
01:00the Southern Gas Corridor
01:01has connected Caspian Gas Reserves
01:04with a European market.
01:05But today, that agenda moves beyond gas.
01:10The meeting signals a broader discussion,
01:13greener electricity, interconnectivity
01:15and long-term energy resilience,
01:18recognising an increasingly volatile geopolitical climate.
01:22We have decided in the EU
01:24that we want to get rid of our dependency on Russian gas.
01:27This then, of course, raises the challenge,
01:30how do we then get the energy that we need?
01:33One part of that solution is that we use less gas
01:35because we use more renewables.
01:37The European Union remains one of the principal partners
01:41in this initiative,
01:42co-chairing the Advisory Council
01:44and reinforcing the strategic nature of the corridor.
01:48These meetings are extremely important
01:49because obviously when dealing with something
01:52as complex as energy policy,
01:55the need to have a dialogue,
01:57to facilitate deals,
01:59to facilitate also solving
02:02of some of the more technical problems that arise
02:04is really there.
02:06The Southern Gas Corridor now supplies
02:09billions of cubic metres of gas annually to Europe.
02:12But leaders here stress
02:13that the next phase must combine stability
02:16with sustainability.
02:19We've delivered what we promised.
02:21And generally, it was a case in the oil,
02:25it was a case in the natural gas.
02:27It was always a case,
02:28and even during the difficult times,
02:30Azerbaijan ensured an uninterrupted supply
02:32of the much-needed energy to Europe
02:34and the other regions.
02:36And our European partners,
02:37they highly value this.
02:39They are telling us that Azerbaijan
02:40is always a reliable partner,
02:42we are a strategic partner for the Europe.
02:44This corridor is of big importance
02:46considering they diversify
02:49the sources of supply of gas,
02:51not only from the Caspian region
02:53and from the Siberian region,
02:56but also from the Southern Gas Corridor.
02:58And by this means it's of importance
03:00not only for security of supply,
03:03but also for the competitiveness.
03:05You know, when you have divisive sources of energy,
03:08you have competitive price of gas,
03:10which is good for the economy.
03:12Collaborations and diplomacy
03:14across the region and beyond
03:15highlights the corridor's
03:17geopolitical importance beyond Europe.
03:19Incredible transition
03:21in terms of the energy supply,
03:23different routes,
03:23and Azerbaijan has proven
03:25to be a very reliable
03:26and trustworthy partner.
03:27The sheer fact of the member
03:29of the countries represented here
03:30speaks to that effect.
03:32I think Azerbaijan now supplies the gas
03:34through the Southern Gas Corridor
03:36to 16 countries.
03:37Ten of those are the European Union members
03:39and Slovenia is proud to be one of them.
03:41The role of gas remains vital for stability,
03:44yet there are suggestions
03:45for a parallel acceleration for renewables.
03:49There's no doubt that the role
03:50of the Southern Gas Corridor has changed.
03:52It's now a connector linking security,
03:56sustainability,
03:57and regional cooperation.
03:59But alongside hydrocarbons,
04:01the Green Energy Advisory Council
04:03highlights a parallel ambition,
04:05exporting renewable electricity
04:07from the Caspian to Europe
04:09through new transmission corridors.
04:12Socar Green has numerous projects
04:14already underway.
04:15We are proud that we have achieved
04:17many milestones.
04:18We have a portfolio of 1.6 gigawatts
04:21under development together
04:23with our partners such as Mazdar.
04:26With Mazdar we have 1 gigawatt,
04:272 solar, 1 wind.
04:29With BP we have 240 megawatt
04:31solar PV project.
04:33And with our Chinese partners
04:34we are developing 420 megawatt,
04:37three separate 400 megawatt
04:39in total projects.
04:41As leaders conclude their discussions
04:43in Baku, the message is clear.
04:45Energy security is no longer
04:48just about supply.
04:49It's about partnerships,
04:50diversification,
04:52and preparing for a greener
04:53yet more resilient future.
04:56Thank you for joining us,
04:57too.
04:57Thank you,
04:57you're welcome.
04:59Thank you.
