00:12It's an incredible 3D experience to watch this film
00:20I've wanted to do something with flying creatures for a very long time
00:23So when I saw this
00:25I thought oh my gosh we can just take that to places that you've never been before
00:28Just let me show you
00:33We knew from the outset that 3D was going to be integrated into this film
00:37And so we thought well probably the best thing we have to offer is the flying sequences
00:43Okay there bud we're going to take this nice and slow
00:49Up there in the clouds feeling that vertigo of the land way beneath and the sky up above
00:55And putting that camera on the back of the dragon with Hiccup is really the best way we could conceive
01:00of taking advantage of the technology
01:02You feel like you're flying down towards the water
01:05You're going through archways and the cliffs
01:07And they'll remind you of different places you've been or different fantasy worlds that you've dreamt of that you want
01:13to go
01:13You watch that and you go that's my dream right there you know flying through the sky
01:19Thank you for nothing you useless reptile
01:22How to Train Your Dragon is all about the life in the other world of you know living like a
01:27viking in that village
01:28And anything that can put you into the space and make you feel like you're really there with them is
01:34something which always helps
01:38We talk a lot about 3D being kind of about the dynamic shots you know the roller coaster effect or
01:44things reaching out
01:45Which is definitely a very powerful effect of 3D
01:48But for me what gets really interesting is when you're looking at a character at a peak emotional moment
01:54And you're drawn in and you really feel like you're looking into the eyes of the character
01:57And so for me just the detail that you see in the surfacing
02:01And the level of modeling that you know the detail that's built into these sets and the lighting everything that
02:06comes together
02:073D just brings that alive
02:08All right i admit it this is pretty cool
02:12I think the emotional connection is going to be what really sells
02:15This movie just evokes such emotion it's really really really special
02:203D dragons and action and vikings and to be a part of something like this is a huge deal
