00:07The Grow House was very important to establish the seriousness and the scientific approach to this business.
00:12It is an amazing set because of the legal restrictions of shooting medical marijuana,
00:18which is legal in California, but you can be sued everywhere for showing real marijuana in a film.
00:24We had to create synthetic marijuana.
00:28It's very hard to create that glow.
00:30There's a mist on good marijuana that you feel.
00:33There's a crystalline effect. It's really the THC.
00:36But I have to credit Thomas Voth, who is our production designer.
00:39He is a worker and a beast. He's there. He's hands-on.
00:43And Patrick Formay, our dope consultant, did a great job to work like a demon to make that synthetic marijuana.
00:51It couldn't look phony otherwise.
00:53We also have big close-ups of it, you know.
00:55He got that by a lot of experimentation.
00:57We went around to several grow houses in California, all different styles, low-end, medium-end, and certainly some high
01:05-end ones.
01:06You know, it's a burgeoning industry here, and it's a serious business.
01:09People can make serious money if they grow enough plants.
01:14But I can guarantee you that not one ounce of real grass is on that movie set.
