00:23So you're watching it wondering how they pulled it off
00:25And just when you think you understand what it is
00:27You're surprised by something else
00:29So the fun of that game with the audience
00:30I think distinguishes this movie from other heist movies
00:33I grew up watching heist films
00:34And when I thought of the movie Now You See Me
00:37I thought what could I do differently
00:39And I thought what if this wasn't about the money
00:42That when they do get the money
00:43They give it away to the audience
00:44And that's a twist that I've never seen
00:47The deeper we went into the process of developing the script
00:49And the more real illusionists and magicians we talked to
00:53And started to hear about the basic principles of magic
00:57Things like misdirection
00:59And the trick has already been done
01:00Before the audience even realizes it's done
01:03And fuse those principles into the writing of the screenplay
01:06The story itself is sort of a magic trick
01:08And a surprise and a twist
01:10It's so rare that you actually open a script
01:13And you have to keep turning the page
01:15And you don't know what's going to happen next
01:16And when you think you know what's going to happen next
01:18The opposite happens
01:19And when something like that comes along
01:21It's kind of your responsibility to bring it to the world
01:23So we really felt it when we read it
01:25And to be able to get behind someone else's script
01:28And nurture it
01:29And to be able to sell their idea to a studio
01:31And have that come out
01:32Is so gratifying and so great
01:35It's really awe-inspiring to see what they did
01:37To the script that I wrote three years ago
01:39And then showing up and seeing hundreds of people
01:41And all the thousands of opponents
01:43That are dedicated to making this work
01:46It's incredible
01:48It's completely new material
01:51It's a big high-concept movie
01:53That has great action sequences
01:55And this is a nice mix of something you are familiar with
01:58A heist movie but then done in a totally original way
02:00Through illusionists who are a team
02:02And who aren't in it just for the money
02:03They're in it for something bigger
02:04They call themselves the Four Horsemen
02:05One of their missions is actually to steal from the rich
02:08And get back to the poor
02:09What's interesting about the Four Horsemen in the movie
02:12Is that at the beginning of the movie
02:13You know, you feel as though they are these criminals
02:16FDA, hands where I can see them
02:18Technically, we're stealing money
02:19We're not necessarily good guys
02:20But at the same time, we're doing it
02:22To get back at these people who we feel
02:24Don't deserve that money in the first place
02:26And ultimately, they do transform
02:28Into these incredible Robin Hood
