Trascrizione
00:03Il film è stato fatto che è stato fatto che è stato fatto a 180 pages long
00:07con alcuni actors in it, scritto in tre acti di Aaron Sorkin
00:54I knew it would be very unusual to play a woman who I'd never heard of, and actually most people
01:00would never have heard of Joanna until this film comes out,
01:03but she really was like his work wife and very influential in terms of how he functioned as a person,
01:09how he dealt with the people around him day to day.
01:11She really made him toe the line and helped him in a way to be the best version of himself
01:18that he could be in terms of personal relations.
01:24So the film is written in three acts, really like a play, and each act is pretty much 45 minutes
01:32thereabouts of continuous real time backstage prior to the moment of the launch of a new product.
01:41So it's a very heightened pressure cooker type atmosphere that is created by the intensity of the writing and the
01:48pace at which the story is being told.
01:53And it's just very cleverly done, because as an audience member, you feel a part of it, you feel present,
02:00you feel that you're backstage with those people,
02:02you feel as excited and nervous as they are to walk on that stage and launch this product.
02:12He just took it all on. He just handled it all. He was the right balance of utterly terrified and
02:17completely determined at the same time.
02:19You know, no actor is free of nerves, ever. I would hope not.
02:24And I really do mean this. I have never seen an actor conduct themselves in a more professional way than
02:30Michael did.
02:31And no fuss. You know, he just knuckled down. He had his own strange system of how he went about
02:38things.
02:38He didn't particularly want help after hours with running lines. I would often say to him,
02:42Listen, I'm, you know, I'm happy to meet up. We could just run a bunch of dialogue and go, No,
02:46no, no, it's okay.
02:47He would just do it his own way. And I'll never forget a profound moment, actually.
02:53We all came into the rehearsal room having filmed Act 1 and 2 to start rehearsals for Act 3.
02:59And we had a cold table read. Everyone sat around the table.
03:02And every single actor, myself included, had our scripts in front of us.
03:07Michael didn't even get his out of his bag.
03:09And it was only because he knew all his lines and he wanted to prove to himself that he'd nailed
03:14it.
03:15And that's a real actor. You know, he was not only setting the bar incredibly high for all of us,
03:21but he was doing as much as he could to cement his own confidence in playing that role
03:27and making the choices that he wanted to make.
03:31So Joanna's constant managing of Steve really did come from a place of genuinely wanting him to just stop,
03:39calm down, take a breath and be real, which often wasn't his strong point.
03:46And she really did manage him and he really couldn't cope without her so often.
03:53The one thing I will say that set Joanna and Steve's relationship apart from all his other working relationships
04:00was that she didn't need anything from him.
04:02And I would say that the majority of the people working with him, they needed something from Steve,
04:08whether it was that paycheck or whether it was to work their way higher up the ladder,
04:12to learn from him, to gain from his success, to ride on his coattails, whatever it was.
04:16Joanna genuinely didn't need any of those things.
04:20And it's quite remarkable how I think that changes the central dynamic of their relationship.
04:25Because she could just be utterly honest with him.
04:28She never felt threatened by him.
04:30She never felt that her job was in jeopardy.
04:32She just wanted for him to be the best version of himself as a person, as a man and as
04:38a father that he could possibly be.
04:40And that I think is what makes their relationship feel very warm and quite profound actually.
04:52I really hope it will surprise people.
04:54I mean, Seth is brilliant anyway, as we know.
04:56Seth is a genius.
04:57Seth is hilarious.
04:58Seth is, you know, the reason that my children are begging me to let them watch Pineapple Express.
05:03You know, Seth is untouchable.
05:06There is no one like him.
05:08You know, you really can't compare him to any other actor out there.
05:11Certainly no other actor of comedic brilliance that he has.
05:15But this is different.
05:17You know, Seth isn't funny in this film.
05:20He's extremely sincere.
05:21Really very touching.
05:23And fascinating to see him play something so different.
05:33Well, we're all used to a certain degree of improvising or changing things up or just mixing a few words
05:40around to just make them feel a little bit more comfortable or natural to say.
05:43But, you know, Aaron Sorkin writes it in a way that is natural, does sound as though you're improvising.
05:50And as though these characters are coming up with these thoughts in that moment.
05:55And that's what makes Aaron Sorkin, Aaron Sorkin.
06:02Somehow, yes, it's about Steve Jobs.
06:04But it's also rather brilliantly about how we all now live our lives because of that brilliant man.
06:11And one can't help but feel tremendous admiration for Steve.
06:16And also a certain degree of gratitude as well that he was as brilliant as he was because he has
06:22enforced how we communicate today.
06:26And, you know, if used correctly, there's something just brilliant about that.
06:33Steve Jobs.
06:34I'm sure he'll never rejoice within his games.
06:36But he says he's not the ever véahah gaprotl, but I tried to not try to make it so commonORE.
06:38He loves clarifying, but he'll never resolve the rejecting other new strategies and do nothing at all.
06:38As soon as Andrew Harris and Gawna Bullet International, he will more than him.
06:39I have noعد Кто-elect Wellness.
06:39But first of all, I've heard him talkaked in 2020.
