00:15I'm Christine Everhart, this week on a special edition of Newsfront, the world the hero leaves
00:20behind. What is the final cost of intervention from groups like the Avengers? Who do they
00:25answer to in the wake of their actions? Joining me on the program is political correspondent
00:29Will Adams. Thank you for being here, Will. Thank you for having me, Christine. Are you scared?
00:33No, I'm fine. We're friends, so, and friends who disagree, so this is going to be interesting. Let's get at
00:40it. Okay. Our super-powered advocates have intervened time and time again in international incidents to great effect, but who
00:46accounts for the devastation they leave behind? Well, the question for me, Christine, isn't if or even should our heroes
00:54be allowed to operate independently. It's why shouldn't they?
00:57The discoveries are still being made in the massive cache of classified material released by former S.H.I.E
01:02.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, and the leak clearly details how the organization known as HYDRA was able to infiltrate
01:08the highest ranks of S.H.I.E.L.D. and had organized a massive conspiracy on the civilian population.
01:14Romanoff's actions, independent from oversight, saved us from what could have been a catastrophic outcome had HYDRA been able to
01:21remain undiscovered.
01:22Romanoff's actions, along with the actions of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark and others over the years, may have been
01:30admirable.
01:30Their actions saved hundreds of thousands of people.
01:35But that's not the question. We're talking about the collateral damage.
01:38This week in our ongoing special report, we'll look back on the events in New York, D.C., Sokovia, asking
01:45you, the viewer,
01:47if the growing concern from governments around the world should see the Avengers submit to international oversight,
01:52or if they should remain free to act independent from government regulation.
01:57I look forward to you trying to convince me that anything they've done is less than admirable.
02:01You look forward to me winning.
02:03We look forward to hearing from you throughout the week.

02:11On behalf of Will Adams, thank you for being here.
02:14Thanks, Rob.
02:14And myself, thank you for watching.
