00:08Ben Affleck, Col Guido, Ray Fisher, Ezra Miller, and Jason Lamour!
00:30Ever since I was a little boy, I always wanted to be a father.
00:36But never in my life did I ever think that I would be an actor.
00:43I was raised in small-town America, surrounded by hard work, cornfields, and pigs.
00:50My uncles and grandfather were the hunters and builders of the Midwest.
00:56I was raised by a strong single mother.
01:00My mom's an artist in every way.
01:03She's a painter, a photographer, she's a wanderer.
01:08Always searching, always seeing.
01:13I guess you could say my mom gave me her eyes.
01:18My mom introduced me to skateboarding and rock climbing.
01:22And I absolutely love her for that.
01:26Because skateboarding, it gave birth to a style for me.
01:31It wasn't just the skating, it was the music.
01:33It was the crew, the underground.
01:37Architecture was forever changed.
01:41You wouldn't believe how much fun you could have on a curb.
01:46And climbing, it made me face my fears and my doubts.
01:51Explored the impossibles.
01:53Problem solved through movement.
01:55I learned to trust my hands, find my feet.
01:58I found balance.
02:00And I found my passion.
02:03I wanted to see the world climbing.
02:06I craved the road, the wild.
02:10I wanted to get out, explore it all.
02:15Camping, fires, playing music, telling stories.
02:18Living in the dirt.
02:21Eating crackers and sardines.
02:24I was a dirt bag.
02:26There's not a care in the world.
02:31I packed up my life.
02:33And I put it on my back.
02:35Free to wander.
02:38Everywhere.
02:38From Tibet, to France, Italy, Japan.
02:42Everywhere, USA.
02:47My travels make me happy.
02:48I made me a student of life.
02:52Somehow, that path led me to a crossroads.
02:55And at the end of that road, acting cornered me.
03:00She seduced me.
03:03For an anxious young man, it finally allowed me to be anything that I wanted to be.
03:10The wonderlust gave way to direction and purpose.
03:14I could be a barbarian or a bartender.
03:17I could be a savage coal.
03:20Or the king of Atlantis.
03:23Nineteen years I've been doing this.
03:26I'm an actor.
03:28I'm a director.
03:29I write and I produce.
03:33I found my path.
03:36I'm a craftsman.
03:40My craft is storytelling.
03:43And then it happened.
03:45She came.
03:47My muse.
03:49The love of my life.
03:51My partner in crime.
03:53I fell stupid, crazy, madly in love with her.
03:57My wife gave me three beautiful, feral kids.
04:01Zozo bear.
04:03Lola bear.
04:05My lovey.
04:06And the wolf.
04:10And with them, my dreams finally came true.
04:14I'm a father.
04:16I found my place.
04:18My home.
04:23And like any father, we want our children to see us doing what we love.
04:29But now, my passion for storytelling pulls me away for long periods of time.
04:36And that scares me.
04:38The nomadic lifestyle that once inspired me.
04:41And now takes me away from the things that I love most.
04:46My ohana.
04:47My family.
04:50I'm afraid of what I'm going to miss.
04:53The laughs.
04:54The cries.
04:55Being able to help them.
04:57Teach them.
05:00I don't want to miss those moments.
05:04If I think about it.
05:06I only have five more years.
05:09Five summers.
05:11And I'm not the center of their universe.
05:19I decided to surround my children with who I am.
05:22With music.
05:24Painting.
05:25All my art forms.
05:27Cause if I teach them to skate, then they can surf or snowboard.
05:33Ultimate balance.
05:35Bold and brave in any terrain.
05:38And if I teach them to climb.
05:41Then they can push themselves to the limits.
05:44Gracefully move through fear and doubt.
05:54To learn respect for our natural resources.
05:58Cause if they can admire nature's truest colors.
06:01Then they can begin to see the beauty in all things.
06:04To be aware of those inconspicuous and overlooked details of life.
06:08I want to give them my eyes.
06:11They will know art.
06:13They'll paint.
06:14They'll sculpt.
06:15They'll understand light and darkness and composition.
06:18To find their soul.
06:20And that's where the music lies.
06:22The soul.
06:24You teach them to play.
06:25Cause if they can play, they can sing.
06:27And if they can sing, then they can dance.
06:29And when you dance, you celebrate.
06:32It is all connected.
06:36These lessons will teach them expression of self.
06:42And if I build it, then I can teach them hard work.
06:47Dedication.
06:48Integrity.
06:49A moral code.
06:53Now every time my children play, they can feel that their papa is always with them.
07:03Since the moment I left my mother's house.
07:06To the moment that I built a home with my wife.
07:10From the ultimate highs.
07:12To the lows that brought me to my knees.
07:16There has been one constant.
07:19Something that stayed with me through all of this.
07:24Like a home on the road.
07:27A comfort disguised as armor.
07:30I see it every time that I look down at these tattered old pants.
07:36In my battlefield.
07:39From the paint.
07:41To the stitches.
07:44Every scratch, ding, laugh and cry is recorded in these pants.
07:50Every mark is a memory.
07:52Every tear adds up to the life I always wanted to live.
07:58Everything I am is in these pants.
08:02And there will come a day.
08:05When I will be gone.
08:07And my children.
08:11Or my grandchildren.
08:13They will find these beat up old cards.
08:15In a dusty corner somewhere.
08:19And they will know.
08:22This is the canvas of my life.
08:24At the abdomen.
08:26By making my hand.
08:26By making a decomponyithered gentle ×’'oves lid.
08:33This is the canvas of tablet apple.
