00:02I remember the first time I saw the movie, that pivotal scene blew me away.
00:08The fact that Smurfette ends up being destroyed and then brought back to life because they basically pooled their love.
00:16It's so moving. I remember saying to myself, God, there's like two minutes where there's no dialogue.
00:21And this is such an amazing scene. This would be an amazing spot for a song, for lyrics,
00:27because they would feel like they were coming from this character.
00:30And everyone kind of said, but it needs to feel like Smurfette's voice.
00:34And I started thinking, I have an old friend of mine with a wonderful voice.
00:39I'm going to call her and see if she'll do this as a demo.
00:43And so I called Shaylee and she recorded it and I heard it was great.
00:51So I brought Kelly in and said, I'm going to play you something.
00:54If you think it's worth something, we'll play it for everybody else.
00:57And so I pressed play and he watched it and he just looked at me and goes, oh my God.
01:03I said, we have to have this in the movie.
01:05It enhanced the emotion of that moment completely.
01:08So it was in the movie from that point forward.
01:10And it's the perfect moment in this film for this kind of song.
