Project Coldblood takes Jason Statham to new levels as an action star because it puts one of the world’s best warriors into a position where a man of honor is being subjected to a horrific process which turns him into something he once thought was completely impossible; a reptile-human hybrid. The images of this transformation are the kinds of images that will haunt you for hours after the movie ends – the sight of dark green reptilian skin spreading over a body built for battle, yet the face under the skin looks recognizable, yet heartbreaking, like a man is desperately trying to fight back from inside himself the monstrous creature he is slowly turning into. Dwayne Johnson stars as the cold-blooded architect behind this nightmare with an unsettling sense of detachment, a commander who sees people as nothing more than data points and disposes of them in mass graves, 32 at a time, buried in unmarked tanks on the grounds of the prison facility he constructed using government funds and no conscience.

Charlize Theron gives possibly the emotional center of this entire concept trailer as the geneticist who wanted to create a better future and found herself standing in front of a room filled with glass tanks containing the tragic evidence of how her genius was misused. As Jason Statham escapes and Dwayne Johnson sends Idris Elba as the most accurate and merciless hunter the program has to offer after him, the action chase that ensues appears to be less of an action sequence and much more of a confrontation racing through the desert and through city streets at full speed. A monster fighting to remain a man, a scientist with evidence that could bring down the entire program and a hunter who never stops – enjoy watching this until the very end and tell me if this is the action concept that should be turned into reality?
