00:19And his opponent, all the way from France, world ranked number 34, Melville Siena-Manico
00:53Joseph White of Australia, taking on Melville Siena-Manico of France.
01:03Day one of play here, the Australian squash open and Amlise Aitken joined in the commentary box with former world
01:11number two Jenny Duncalf.
01:12Good evening, Jenny.
01:13Evening, Lise.
01:16Well, we're very lucky to have you here given the work that you're now doing with the National Junior Pathway
01:23coach and obviously very heavily involved with the national set up here.
01:30Yeah, it's fantastic. We've obviously got four wild cards on display tonight.
01:35Jess van der Waal couldn't get much joy in the previous match.
01:42Joe is our top male player.
01:47Well, Melville Siena-Manico is having the season of his life.
01:52Big breakthrough players, just 20 years of age, and he had a massive week at the Texas squash open.
01:56This is round two against Mohamed El Shibagi.
01:59Mohamed El Shibagi, a former world number one world champion, was kind of dipping in and out of this, Jenny,
02:03whether he was interested or not.
02:05He was having niggles there going on with the left leg, but all credit to Siena-Manico.
02:10He got over the line and he managed to back that up against another former world number one, Karim Abdel
02:17-Gawad.
02:17This was on a different court, very different conditions as well, but I was so impressed with the way he
02:23was constructing the rallies,
02:24the way he took the game to Gawad. He's very light and nimble around the court as well, but he'd
02:28done his homework coming into this
02:30and he's a very talented player coming from France.
02:33Yeah, an unbelievable run at that event. I first saw him play actually in France for the World Junior Championships.
02:41And the improvement is incredible. That was four years ago, still just 20.
02:46And I love the scenes as well as celebrations, winning those matches in Texas.
02:50It was quite sort of cute the way he just couldn't believe that he'd beaten those two guys.
02:55And even though perhaps Shibagi was in and out, not many people can still put him away.
03:00And the nerves that you get on the cusp of big wins like that showed some metal as well to
03:04get over the finishing line in both of those matches.
03:07He's at his highest world ranking of 34 and after that run thoroughly deserved.
03:12He has been over here, this side of the world. He was another player coming from New Zealand.
03:16Passed out in round two to Ian Yao Ong. Three games to love, but quite close.
03:21Eight, nine and eight after getting through against Henry Leung of Hong Kong at five sets.
03:25Half time.
03:25Yeah, Yao really didn't take him lightly. And of course, why would you?
03:30He had, as I mentioned in the studio, just really impressive attacks from behind.
03:34Really high skill level.
03:37Probably not enough to trouble the Malaysian overall.
03:44Joseph White, 28 years of age, based over here, based over in America, sorry.
03:51He's spent quite a number of years over there now.
03:54Yeah, he's a real hard worker, Joe. Glad to see he's dressed up for the occasion.
03:57But 28 years old now. He's based over in Connecticut. He's been there for a while.
04:05As you mentioned, works heavily with Rodney Martin, who really helped him improve his game.
04:10And then now a bit of a change onto Cameron Pilly.
04:14So fantastic to see Aussie, former Australian players, giving back to our young crop.
04:21Just one meeting on tour in the past, and that was November last year.
04:25The White Oaks cut round of 16.
04:28Melville Cianni Manico getting through that three games to love.
04:33Relatively recent meeting on tour.
04:36Yeah, Joe hasn't played that much this year.
04:40Opted to sort of get a good block of training in ahead of New Zealand and Oz Open.
04:44There's also a busy schedule coming up with Oceana Regional Tournament.
04:47Big PSA points up for grabs there.
04:51And then World Champs qualifying in Melbourne as well.
04:53So a busy spell that he wanted to prepare well and not compete in January, February.
05:03Paul Kennett, the match referee for this one.
05:06Backed up by Glenn Carson in the VR seat.
05:14Great opportunity this for Joe White getting to play in his home backyard here in Australia.
05:19This crowd certainly arrived for the wild cards that are coming into tonight's play.
05:24Yeah, they have. It's been pretty vocal.
05:27Not many points on the board yet.
05:30But Joe, eight years older here, more experience.
05:33So I think he'll quite like this draw.
05:38Now we'll Cianni Manico just getting some extra solo practice in.
05:41You'll have August Dussault, his team mate from France in his coaching corner.
05:45He's already through to the next round after beating Sanjay Jeeva of Malaysia 3-2.
05:51So he's had a big battle today.
05:53Gosh, he's had many a battle on this court.
05:56You saw he was a real character in last year's Oz Open.
06:01Looks like he's barely just come off court.
06:08Well, there he goes, Ryan Koskelly, our co-commentator this week.
06:12Quick change of t-shirt.
06:14They're pretty strict with us like that.
06:16We've got to be in the old squash Australia gear.
06:18But yeah, huge insight.
06:20He obviously, Ryan Koskelly's just moved about a year ago,
06:24working with the national set up.
06:25He works every day on the Gold Coast at our national performance centre with Stuart Boswell.
06:3015 seconds.
06:42Squash Australian Open, 2026.
06:46Men's round of 32 match.
06:48Malville's Cianni Manico of France to serve.
06:51Joseph White of Australia to receive.
06:55Best of five games.
06:58Lovel.
07:03Here we go with the first match off this evening's session.
07:07Yeah, there's always an extra little buzz in the air when the sun goes down,
07:11the bats are flying around.
07:13I like an evening.
07:15Yeah, everyone's a bit nervous about them.
07:17Yeah, well, I saw them.
07:18Between 6pm and 7pm, they come out and they try and...
07:21It's the best time of the night, Liz.
07:23They try and gather the nectar, Jen, and I nearly got whacked in the head with a few last night.
07:27There's far scarier creatures to be as scared of in this part of the world than bats.
07:40Well, we watched Joe White.
07:43Oh, that's a lovely straight kill.
07:44We watched him play in New Zealand.
07:46We commentated on them together, Jen.
07:47What are you looking to see him do here tonight against the Frenchman?
07:52Well, a bit more of the same there, Liz, with that winner.
07:54I think just he wasn't the result.
07:56It was more just quite inconsistent with his timing of the ball.
08:00A few unforced errors which were really sort of miscued.
08:06And sometimes that happens when you haven't played competitively for a couple of months, which he hadn't.
08:10And obviously, Pajara's had that run reaching his second ever silver semi-final.
08:16So he played a player in form, but I think he's definitely going to have to improve his overall just
08:24target hitting.
08:26And the movement's always been not a struggle, I would say, but a little bit difficult.
08:33He's obviously tall, but quick onto the ball there.
08:37So sometimes if he's on the back end of rallies, he can get a little bit, little bit leggy.
08:43Yeah, 190 centimetres.
08:47Stature.
08:50Always been a good professional, worked at his game, tries to get everything out of himself.
08:57Originally from Northern Territories.
09:11Yeah.
09:14Hand out.
09:15Two, three.
09:17Quite elastic movement.
09:18He's got that great adaptability if he's sent the wrong way.
09:20He's obviously a very light frame.
09:22Hand out.
09:24Forward two.
09:25He's quite nimble around the court.
09:27He's obviously light and agile, and his adjustment steps if he gets sent the wrong way are very quick.
09:32Yeah, it's a fantastic base to have, and he's only 20 years old, so that's only going to get better
09:37and really turn that into a strength as he continues to grow in the PSA World Tour.
09:45A good start here for White.
09:47It's going to settle the nerves if there are any.
09:50Try and get the momentum.
09:52Get the crowd behind him early on.
10:02Really trying to push in front, isn't he?
10:03Obviously we mentioned the height.
10:04It's a great feature to have if you want to volley across the middle and take control of the game.
10:11And just felt like, at times in New Zealand, he lacked that ability to really push up and test himself
10:16physically, get onto the ball early.
10:18A bit submissive.
10:20Yeah, he plays his best when he's across the short line like most squash players, I guess.
10:24But I think for him, yeah, making sure his ball is striking and his accuracy and he's actually hitting his
10:32targets.
10:35Because if he's loose, then like I say, sometimes it's hard work for him moving tough movements into the corners.
10:44That's lovely, lovely finish.
10:48Handouts, 3-5.
10:51Well, look at this, Jen.
10:52You had the privilege of being here last year and this is new territory for me and this is up
10:57there, I must say, one of the best venues I've seen.
11:00Yeah, spectacular.
11:01We've got the green and gold lights going on tonight and it only gets better like many events around the
11:07world.
11:07The first couple of days tend to be a little bit quieter with the ticket sales, but once we hit
11:13quarters, semis and finals, this place will be rocking.
11:18First piece of action for Glen Carson.
11:23It's quite a way away from the ball, didn't know too much about this, he got wrong-footed.
11:28Yeah, trying to cover short shot, got it a little bit wrong and stuck there, but it was his own
11:34doing, so I think White's going to struggle there.
11:37No let, decision overruled.
11:40Sanemanako has two reviews remaining.
11:45Both players get two reviews at the start of every match.
11:49And one each if it goes to a fifth and final game.
12:06That lovely snap of the wrist, the Frenchman doesn't even.
12:08Yeah, it's great control, just solid as a rock across that short line.
12:13Five all.
12:13So he's got that kind of low sense of gravity, but he still sort of gets down to the ball,
12:19doesn't take anything for granted.
12:24Backhand volley looks very comfortable.
12:29Backhand volley of the ball.
12:37Stand, hand out, 6'5".
12:55Still only played 80 matches on Toursiani Manicot, under the 100 mark, we don't see
13:01that with players playing at this level.
13:04Yeah, and he's going to have gained a lot this year, playing the likes of, obviously,
13:10Shafaghi, Goward, and just getting across the line against players like that early on
13:17in your career is always a big help.
13:24We talk about Goward's front left area, the court's backhand drop, and the way he can
13:29instruct rallies to give them opportunities to hit into the front left, and that
13:32day, we were just speaking about there, Tiani Manicot is just as good, if not better, hitting
13:39in and exposing the movement of Goward.
13:42That's pretty cool, through the legs, no panic.
14:16Oh, a bit of fortunate bounce there for Joe White.
14:21Hand out, 7-6.
14:2624 degrees.
14:29Dropped.
14:30It has dropped.
14:31We were in the 30s at the beginning of play at 2 p.m. local time.
14:54Just going to make sure his width from right to length, right to length, right to left.
14:59It's been a lot of squash already, Lise, don't look at me like that.
15:03It's on point because the Frenchman does look good across the middle.
15:08The longest rallies of the match so far.
15:22That's fantastic quality from Tiani Manicot, really moving quite around the court.
15:28Front right, sorry, front right was good.
15:35Hand out, 7-0.
15:395-0.
15:39Business end though, this first game, crucial for White.
15:43Yeah, he had a good start since the last sort of 2-3 rally is the last phase.
15:48Ciano Manicot has been dictating a little bit more and White's going to have to make sure
15:52that he's getting him off the tee.
16:00Yeah.
16:02That's costly.
16:02That's massively costly at this point in the first game.
16:058-7.
16:07That's what we saw a little bit of New Zealand just he's got to eradicate these
16:11three points that every now and again gives his opponent a couple of game.
16:32Timing of the Frenchman's movement is exemplary. French always known to move well, naturally.
16:40This is good from whites.
17:21Oh, it's awkward at the body. He's dealt with it well.
17:24Well, Australians known for their cricket.
17:27Handouts 8-4.
17:29Look at the body of Joe White and he's improvised extremely well.
17:37It's all.
17:43It was a better rally than Joe White, really hitting his targets and making good decisions,
17:51keeping it out of the tin.
18:08Cross courted well.
18:10He's deceptive to read on that cross court.
18:12The snap of the wrist is quite late.
18:14Handouts 9-8.
18:16The movement, like you mentioned, at least that French players have always been known
18:20for throughout the years.
18:24Not been that many tall French players, but extremely, extremely good movers.
18:44Oh, that's a lovely shot. What a touch from the vocal court.
18:48Tonight's game ball.
18:50Wow. Well, we saw a lot of that last week in New Zealand and what a time to play it.
18:56Caresses the ball. Sacre bleu.
18:58Yeah.
18:59Two game balls for the Frenchman.
19:03Down.
19:03Oh.
19:04Barely made an arrow so far.
19:06Handouts.
19:0619.
19:07Game ball.
19:09Go, Joey.
19:10Go, Joe.
19:10Go, Joe.
19:12Go, Joe.
19:12Go, Joe.
19:12Go, Joe.
19:12Go, Joe.
19:12Go, Joe.
19:13Go, Joe.
19:13Go, Joe.
19:15Go, Joe.
19:20Go, Joe.
19:21Go, Joe.
19:30Oh, dear, two game balls squandered for Sianni Manicol.
19:34Two backhand dropped-ins.
19:35Two points.
19:36A little rap of the knuckles against the sidewall showing his frustration.
19:41A great chance for Joe White here to sneak this first game.
19:57cross court such a difficult shot
19:59for white to turn
20:01his frame round
20:03and reverse the pressure
20:20where did that come from
20:22done it again
20:23he's brave
20:24very very brave
20:26he's shaking his head there
20:27but that was pretty good
20:30I think he was more saying
20:31why am I going for that
20:32in a moment like this
20:33his shot selection was a bit wayward
20:35the whole rally to be honest
20:36that is unbelievable
20:38the open stance
20:39the open racket face
20:40lack of a follow-through
20:41just kind of stuns it in there
20:44very high risk
20:45he plays it from behind him
20:46done that too
20:47two higher shots
20:49we've got the winner
20:49forehand drops from behind
20:55Joe White just saying
20:57let's play on
20:59take the
21:00oh well the court cleaner's
21:01coming on anyway
21:02so a little bit of a
21:03breather here for
21:04the players
21:05tough conditions
21:07tough conditions
21:07he won't be used to this
21:08outdoors
21:0924 degrees
21:12oh he's struggling there
21:13with something
21:13been a bit of contact
21:16thank you
21:19that's unbelievable
21:20techers
21:24handouts
21:25looks like he was slightly
21:25wounded but seems to be a fine note
21:27game ball
21:27go Joey
21:35down
21:35that's another error
21:37three errors
21:38two backhand drop errors
21:40and now
21:40the angle
21:51it's a lovely line from White
21:56it's error followed by winner here
21:59hand out
22:0112-11
22:02great to watch
22:03not a furious coach probably
22:04but it's
22:07very very brave
22:09another game ball for Sianu Maniko
22:33oh you could see he lined up for it
22:35didn't quite find the result he wanted
22:38sat up
22:40frenetic stuff
22:41there's fourth game ball
22:47this is good from White he's chopping it around
22:50he's taking it to Sianu Maniko
22:52he's having to defend
22:59oh and the error
23:01another costly error
23:02crucial moment
23:0313-11 game to Sianu Maniko
23:05Joe White
23:05Sianu Maniko leads
23:07one game to Love
23:11oh beautiful
23:12backdrop for this match
23:15here all week and I can't wait to
23:17continue to look at this as the squash unfolds
23:2116 minutes for this opening game
23:23it went all the way to a tie break
23:25but it's Melville Sianu Maniko
23:26that sneaks at 13-11
23:31well a fairly lengthy first game here under the Brisbane skyline
23:36Joe White started very confidently
23:39nice positive play
23:41sitting his targets fairly well
23:43but then the Frenchman sort of settled in
23:45took control of the short line
23:47took him four game balls to convert
23:51there's a bit of a mixture of his own errors
23:53or winners
23:55so the Australian
23:56can try and dictate the play a little bit more
23:58and not sort of rely on winners and errors
24:00from his opponent
24:03but still
24:03he'll be positive going into the second game
24:05hoping to give the Australian crowd
24:07something to cheer about
24:12much better performance that from the Australian
24:14taking
24:17taking
24:18taking
24:19those
24:20recommendations I reckon Jen
24:21from you in New Zealand
24:24see you saw there being
24:26expressive as ever
24:30the VIP area in the background
24:32that's going to get busy
24:34there's our co-commentator
24:36Ryan Koskelly
24:37busy man tonight
24:42player will resume in 30 seconds
24:45definitely doesn't get much sun for an Aussie

24:51this
24:51he's been on a break

25:24well here we go
25:27second game underway
25:28tie break
25:29for that first game
25:33oh dear
25:36that was not what the doctor ordered
25:37for this opening rally
25:45you can see a few more bodies
25:47a few more heads there
25:48in this evening sessions
25:50as you'd expect
25:50with all the Australians
25:53two more to come
25:54after this
26:24I'll see you next time
26:32Oh, tough work. Couldn't quite get down to that boast.
26:36A good little lead, good start for the Frenchman as we see some of the locals.
26:43It's quite a cosmopolitan crowd here in Brisbane.
26:47Well you did warn us earlier that we might see some fancy dress.
26:52Australians love to dress up. I'm sure we'll see that over the weekend.
26:58Oh, it's in the towel box.
27:01What is the towel here?
27:03It's just a normal Tuesday night in Brisbane that lease.
27:06You got one of them at home? I'll bring it tomorrow.
27:10Can't wait for that for the Envision segment.
27:13Pre-show is going to look good.
27:18In all seriousness, what's going on there?
27:22There's always things going on around this part of Brisbane.
27:26We're at the South Bank Piazza.
27:28Lots of events held around here.
27:30Oh, that's a lovely finish. Listen to the crowd.
27:34Pinpoint accuracy from Joe in the back and drop it.
27:38Yeah, quick hands.
27:40Not letting that ball go past him.
27:55That was deceptive. I love that.
27:57That was brilliant.
27:57Twist and turn in the shoulders.
28:00Three, two.
28:00Yeah, showing the cross court.
28:01Sliding it straight.
28:18Down.
28:22Stroke to San Manico.
28:25Yeah, contact.
28:26There.
28:28Referee deeming.
28:30Stroke.
28:32And it prevented San Manico from playing his shot.
28:35Head out.
28:36Three, all.
28:38Clips him on the backswing on the shoulder there.
28:40Clips him on the right shoulder.
28:41Clips him on the right shoulder there.
28:43Clips him on the right shoulder there.
28:47Right.
28:48It's not quite...
28:48Worry a little bit over his width from his full hand crossquart.
28:53Get it wider.
29:08Oh!
29:08oh that looked nasty i just slipped out of nowhere yeah he did he's up quickly oh he's
29:18absolutely fine thank goodness i think we were more worried about that than
29:25fortunately he slipped on the court there must be you droplets of sweat there and he's just
29:30committed as the heel goes down and it's right ankle this will be a good one oh yeah it didn't
29:40look nice though if you see his right ankle he gets stuck behind and then slides forward could
29:48potentially jar the ankle there but he's got up quickly did ask for the light bulb but was given
29:57the no let no appeal bit of an awkward one yeah very unlucky
30:18jenny manico just practicing his backhand drop now lift four three lift conks
30:26a bit of a stinger that one a double blow when you slip and then you're not getting anything out
30:30of it
30:31well as long as he's okay that could have been worse it didn't look great
30:36seems fine still playing i like his body language jen we didn't see him be so upbeat i know he's
30:41got
30:41the home crowd here playing in australia but it's very positive for me i mean he lost that third game
30:4711-1 against paris and we were talking about the resilient factor
30:53yeah he does look slightly he started the first pretty well
31:00it's just the frenchman so smooth and just a concern for white is just keeping that consistency
31:09and keeping it out the tin when it's just a couple of errors here and there so quick across the
31:14middle
31:14the middle there sianna manico oh i'm glad he didn't hit that yeah i mean he's a nimble mover but
31:23it's not superhuman it's not superhuman it's not superhuman it's not superhuman it's not
31:424 5
31:43down pick up was good i mean it was a great straight kill reminiscent of camera pilly i was going
31:50to say
31:50tori malik actually but who hits it better tori malik or cameron pilly i'd have to edge it with pilly
31:57there
32:01do you take him on little bruise on the knee
32:13oh just looked out yep conceded as well by white seven four
32:33do you try encourage the players to come back that are overseas and spend some time with the
32:38up-and-coming players yeah of course it's difficult when they're competing as you can't really
32:44base yourself here in terms of travel and um recovery so they tend to base elsewhere and play
32:52runs of tournaments but whenever there's a spell of events here like now that all the players will
32:57come to the gold coast beforehand and and afterhand we've got a good little group staying at what's
33:02known as the squash house um on the goal coast so which we've been trying to trying to have that
33:10for
33:10years really since i started the job a few few years ago and got some decent funding to allow
33:16that to happen so when the juniors are kind of transitioning out of juniors into seniors there's
33:22somewhere they can train in a really good daily training environment with stuart boswell and ryan
33:26caskelly and myself their numbers we could do with some more numbers but it's a great little group and
33:33when the likes of joe and jess and whoever come back and also traveling international players as well
33:40encourage them to get on court game ball game ball for a two love lead
33:57it's a lovely lift
34:02oh dear tell you what he wasn't missing those in texas
34:28a lovely finish
34:32backhand drop
34:34real strength
34:35not been happy with it tonight though
34:38he's been practicing this backhand drop
34:40any opportunity that you can
34:43that's better
34:44do with that one
34:45good sign, a bit of a perfectionist
34:48you find lots of players doing that
34:50in between games when they're not happy
34:52that is the new casino in Brisbane
34:56another lovely back drop there
34:58nine minutes for this second game
35:0028 minutes in total and it's a Frenchman that leads
35:02two games to love
35:04I've been here for 10 years and not ventured there
35:06it's only been around two years
35:08I've still not been but a lot of the PSA crew
35:10have that were here last year
35:16it's a tough second game for the Australian
35:18Joe White, stuck in there
35:20at the start, it was touch and go
35:23but seeing the Manico
35:24looking pretty comfortable, avoided any
35:26injury with that slip
35:29but doing a lot of work
35:31the Australian and needs to cut out
35:32the errors
35:34Siano Manico only made about one or two on the drop
35:39but it's a big mountain to climb now for Joe White
35:47I was thinking about
35:50the mindset of Siano Manico, obviously he's had the two big wins
35:53against Mohamed El Shabagi and Kareem Abdel-Gawad
35:55and obviously that went pretty viral for obvious reasons
35:59do you think that's something he's now going to struggle with in terms of pressure
36:03or is he going to just take that confidence
36:05I mean every individual is so different aren't they
36:06how they deal with it
36:08I think he'll take it with confidence
36:10like most good junior players
36:11he's shown that he's got the ability to get those wins
36:14that's not easy to do whatsoever
36:16he strikes me as a confident player
36:19he never shies away from what I've seen
36:22which isn't a lot
36:23but doesn't shy away from showing us his skills
36:26and he's a nice attacking style of player
36:29I think his physique is something that's just going to
36:31get better and better as he gets older and stronger as well
36:35he's a good physique for squash
36:37nice compact figure
36:43oh well
36:44that is cool
36:45that's right outside
36:47this amphitheater here
36:49and that is where we are
36:50Brisbane
36:51very cool
36:51nice little photo opportunity there
36:53for all the squash fans
36:54yeah there's an even bigger one further down the road
36:57huge Brisbane sign
37:04third game underweight
37:06at this point in New Zealand
37:08two games to love down against Ike Pajares
37:10that we saw quite unravel a little bit
37:14yeah he's got to stay strong
37:16at the start of this third game
37:18don't think Sianna Manico's level
37:21is going to fluctuate too much
37:35it's good
37:35nice lifting from the front
37:37from Y
37:37but again it's just the execution
37:39hand out
37:40lacking
37:58count
38:01two
38:02one
38:26lovely backhand drop that practice in between games
38:29Lise obviously did the trick
38:31yeah it's flowing in nicely now
38:33Curtis Malik
38:36tomorrow will be playing
38:37the winner of this
38:39I'm sure he's here
38:40he is actually here
38:40and the crowd have seen him
38:41in fact
38:42I'll tell you what
38:43he goes to pretty much every
38:44match
38:45he can at tournaments
38:47whether he's playing
38:47resting
38:48already lost
38:49quite often
38:50see his face
38:51trying to learn as much
38:52oh yes
38:53look at this
38:54it's a butterfly
38:54a yellow one
38:55that's the sort of wildlife
38:57I'm up for seeing
38:58not the snakes
38:58and the
38:59yeah
39:00that won't be the first insect
39:02we see on court this week
39:03that's delightful
39:05what a lovely colour
39:06there's such good organisers here
39:08that they've
39:09managed to get the yellow butterfly in
39:13Papillon in French
39:20well we're just going to have to
39:21wait a second
39:22in the lights
39:23there's always a few mozzies around
39:25yeah they're not so nice looking ones
39:27do you play on here Lise
39:28it's going to have a job catching
39:30catching the butterfly there
39:33nice mood lightener
39:36don't think he's
39:38going to get that
39:39so he won't be
39:41oh it's still
39:43flapping around
39:44on the court
39:45tell you what
39:46it's going to be the crowd favourite
39:48if he ends
39:49this poor butterfly's life
39:50oh Joe
39:52through the strings
39:53I think there should be
39:55a bonus
39:55bonus points
39:56for whoever catches it
40:01good teamwork
40:02yeah no that's great
40:04let's get this little cutie out
40:06on hand
40:07well done boys
40:10can't see him
40:10he's just crushed that
40:11in between his hands
40:13no he hasn't
40:14I won't say that
40:16you'll get him reported
40:17to the virus PCA
40:19from the right box
40:21he's literally just
40:22taking that around the back
40:23tread on
40:29no all the Australians
40:30take care of their
40:31wildlife hit
40:343-1
40:35we do have the botanical gardens
40:37just nearby
40:38just across the river
40:40lovely place to visit
40:453-1 lead
40:46in this third game
40:47for Sianni Manico
40:53again
40:55catching
40:554-1
40:56fortunate bounce there
40:58it's just
40:59good width and depth
41:01isn't it
41:03it's intense
41:04Sianni Manico
41:05is always to take it early
41:06the initial movement
41:07is always to the side
41:09and then if he has to go back
41:10he'll go
41:11but
41:11great intent
41:12with his movement
41:24oh
41:24that's more like it
41:26from Joe White
41:27that's what the crowd
41:28have come to see
41:29hand out
41:302-5
41:31showing us what he can do
41:47yeah I mean that's
41:48that's brilliant
41:49from Sianni Manico
41:50head out
41:516-2
41:52White just
41:52flapping around
41:53well he's just caught
41:55a bit far back there
41:56you can see him
41:57winding up for that
41:57cross court nick
41:58good shot
42:02love a vantage point here
42:04that's so good
42:05I can't wait
42:06at least
42:06for the latter rounds
42:08it's just going to get
42:09bigger and bigger
42:10rowdier and rowdier
42:17around 1200 people
42:19can fit in here
42:25when I moved here
42:2610
42:2610 years ago
42:28to be around
42:29South Bank
42:30all the time
42:30and would often
42:32say
42:33definitely needs to be
42:34a glass court
42:35in this amphitheatre
42:36so fantastic
42:36to see it come
42:37come to light
42:39since last year
42:40what else happens here
42:41when the court's not
42:41there
42:42all sorts
42:43Christmas concerts
42:44any kind of concerts
42:45markets
42:46shows
42:528-2
42:56for the right box
42:57good
42:59good
43:00going Joey
43:27All right.
43:40All right.
43:41Stroke to white.
43:43Just clipped him ever so slightly as he's turned to look for the ball.
43:49Hand out.
43:50Three, eight.
44:18Out.
44:21Four, eight.
44:23Still a healthy lead for Sianu Manico.
44:26Joe White just making life difficult.
44:31I think the approach here from White has got to be to, you know,
44:36don't give any cheap points away, make the Frenchman win the rally.
44:41Keep the ball in play.
44:44Player review, White on the stroke decision.
44:50White sending this one to Glen Carson in the VR seat.
44:56Sianu Manico no practice in the forehand drop.
44:59He just floored his first practice one.
45:02Improved on the second.
45:04So the stroke originally given.
45:16Good opportunity these video referee decisions for the players to go and use their towel.
45:23It is the only opportunity they get.
45:25But I don't think he's got much of an option to swing, to bring his backswing back there without clashing
45:31with White.
45:38Stroke to Sianu Manico.
45:40Decision upheld.
45:41White has one review remaining.
45:46Hand out.
45:47There's our Australian power couple they almost look like there.
45:53Ryan Coskelley and Stuart Boswell.
45:57Two more Australians coming up.
46:00Madison Lyon and Dylan Molinaro in the next two matches.
46:04Not much joy so far, unfortunately, for the local crowd.
46:07Yeah, just two left, Jen.
46:09It's going to have to be a great end to the evening for the Aussies.
46:12Otherwise, tomorrow is going to look a bit bleak.
46:19Good opportunity, though.
46:20They'll learn a lot.
46:22I think that, Claire.
46:23Yeah.
46:25Looked out.
46:26Just touching the line.
46:29Hand out.
46:31Five-nine.
46:32Got the angle this week to see it.
46:34Oh, yeah.
46:34Yeah, well out.
46:56He's played it.
46:57Let's go.
47:34Oh dear.
47:35Well you can see just how he was shaping up.
47:37He had a few different options there.
47:40Probably over thought it.
47:43And he's fiddling around with his ankle.
47:46Yeah he's not comfortable here at Seano Manico.
47:50Does feel distracted to me.
47:53Joe White serving quickly.
47:55Not a bad idea.
48:02Oh lovely tight work down this backhand line.
48:08He's stopped moving.
48:13Seven nine.
48:14Well he's not far away from getting this job done.
48:17So he might see some of those very late behind the body drop shots from the back of the court.
48:25The magic that he was providing at the end of that second game.
48:29Margin does two points.
48:45It's a lovely shot.
48:47It's a lovely shot.
48:47And the outright winner.
48:48Hand out.
48:49Ten seven.
48:51Match ball.
48:51Match ball for Seano Manico.
49:10Yeah got what it deserved didn't it.
49:11He went for the cross court and it completely missed the mark.
49:14Opened up the court for White.
49:15Eight ten.
49:17Match ball.
49:18It's an animator Joe White.
49:20Senses that he could make one final push here.
49:35Yeah.
49:40Yeah.
49:40Yeah.
49:53again another drop shot on the forehand side gone floating in inviting light to counter-attack
50:02just one match ball left for the frenchman
50:12well it was there for the taking on the serve
50:17oh it was awkward wasn't it didn't read the cross core got tucked behind him
50:22tiani manico not comfortable at all out here slightly winded earlier in the match and
50:29quite clearly struggling struggling to get some oxygen in there perhaps a little bit of a sore ankle
50:36as well they've got the racket on that last shot just couldn't quite get it up
50:46well the home crowd just giving one big last round of applause for joe white 43 minutes
50:53he goes down to melville ciani manico 13 11 11 5 11 9
51:06so melville c cian manico i'm going to get that name wrong all day ciani manico it's not that hard
51:13is it um it's safely through but as lisa was alluding to there looked like he was struggling
51:17a little bit with his breathing and i know you
