00:30...the most successful, I guess, global women's sport and also most paid, so it's great to see that and I'm
00:40happy for that and I'm proud of that, so I think it's in a good place.
00:45Match question, just tell me what you thought about your opponent's level today and how satisfying or you take any
00:53pleasure with players of the Serbian descent, you know, around the world, coming up, you know, probably inspired by you.
01:01Yeah, it's not many of us, so it's nice to see, you know, Alex, who I really like as a
01:07person and I get along very well with him, you know, I know that he's got a Serbian background, his
01:14entire family, so...
01:16Yeah, we get to practice a lot, we get along very well on the tour and we haven't faced each
01:22other many, I think maybe only once in play before today's match and...
01:27I watched a little bit of the highlights of his matches in this tournament and I thought he just felt
01:33the ball very well, I mean, he was striking the ball great and today...
01:36I don't recall really facing someone who is not that tall, I mean, he has a decent height but not
01:44really tall and to be able to serve, you know, that well and hit his spots in the box is
01:52just...
01:52was really incredible, I mean, I wasn't, you know, maybe feeling my rhythm on that return very well today but
02:01he was just making my life very difficult returning the serve, I mean, he was just...
02:06acing me all over, getting a lot of free points, couldn't really serve at all, that's what I told him
02:13at the net, I mean, he was...
02:14had a tremendous serving display today and, you know, he's on the right path, I mean, he's just...
02:20and I always, you know, like the way he plays and one-handed backhand, it's so rare nowadays and he's
02:29so very... he's very talented, he's got...
02:31he's a great ball-striking player but I think he was lacking in the last few years consistency, he was
02:40making a lot of unforced errors, I think he has brought that down and...
02:45I mean, I know his coach and he's worked with Tiafo and a few other players and it seems like,
02:52you know, whatever they're doing is working, you know, he's serving great and he's playing really well, I mean, he
02:57has had some wins...
02:58great wins this week and today really was anybody's game until the last couple points, so, I mean, the only
03:05that last game of the third where he missed some first serves, gave me looks on the second and I
03:11used it, you know, that's pretty much it, you know, I...
03:14I mean, yeah, it was very unpredictable he was going to win until the end.
03:19One more minute, Chris.
03:21Hey, Novak, I have a question about the term tennis IQ.
03:25Very broad term, a lot of people have their own specific definitions for it but I'd love to hear what
03:30your own definition is and how important do you think it is to have a high tennis IQ, you know,
03:36at the elite level?
03:40I mean, in a simple way to put it, it's like finding a way, finding a way through, finding a
03:45solution.
03:47I think tennis IQ can be described in different ways but I value the adaptability a lot, so being able
03:59to have your game so complete,
04:07and obviously the tennis IQ that you see on the court in matches, I think it's very dependent on, at
04:14least in my case, the way I see my evolution in my game and the other guys, most of the
04:19other guys, is what you do before you get to the official match.
04:23You know, how diligently you approach your everyday life, does everything revolve around tennis and about...
04:35Do you nurture the mindset of trying to improve and get better and not only rely on your strengths and
04:43kind of, you know, pray that your weaknesses are not exposed but rather trying to improve the game as you
04:51go along because everyone else does it.
04:52So, I think it's like a diligent, you know, holistic, multidisciplinary approach that really defines the IQ in the end,
05:02you know, when you have a lot of shots in the arsenal on the court, then you feel more comfortable
05:14and finding solutions, you know, when you're facing a wall mentally, so to say, when you're not...
05:23...particularly happy with the execution of your plan A or plan B, you've got to have plan C, D, E,
05:30F, or whatever, you know, you have to adapt to every player's surface conditions and...
05:36I mean, that's, that's obviously much easier said than done and it takes years of development and the whole thing.
05:43I mean, I'm just, I'm talking on the highest level.
05:45Of course, you know, you have certain players that are just more gifted than others and, you know, when you
05:51see them playing on the court, you know, maybe they have a higher tennis IQ than others which gets them
05:57out of the trouble.
05:58But what I'm talking about is the consistency, you know, of long lasting career and successful career.
